  • And who has ever heard of Richard Thompson?

  • I always thought the G stood for "gay". But I think gay people are cool, so I'm glad it doesn't stand for "gay". It probably stands for "gag", which is the reflex that occurs upon hearing Kenny G's sickening sonic pukings.

  • Yes, KG sucks HARD. I gotta tell you though, this parody sucks too. Oh well.

  • Critics experience the sublime when they perceive something transcendent that, they fear, may have escaped an artist's capacity for expression, and these all-knowing critics hint at an other-world reality, the holy, the mystical, the immortal, the unity of truth and beauty that they have seen or felt in flashes of epiphany, and they know they have a calling and a mission from God to let the artist knows he sucks, lol

  • Love the song. I don't really hate Kenny G, but to call him jazz is an insult to jazz musicians and listeners everywhere.

  • It's sad R.T. would take a shot a K.G.

  • oh my god. Criticism on Kenny G coming from a man with songs made of 3 chords and the singing-skills of a vacuum cleaner... keep on sucking matt pathetic´s, i mean pat metheny´s dick!!! way to go...

  • @PeakResetProductions well if you catergorize kenny g as a JAZZ musician you are going to hear criticism. John Coltane, Wayne Shorter, Julian "Cannonball" Adderly, Michael Brecker, Charlie Parker. These are great sax jazz musicians. Even Grover Washington

  • @PeakResetProductions You obviously know nothing about Richard Thompson. This song is but a joke (you know, it never hurts to have a sense of humour) but you should probably listen to his real stuff.

If you don't, well... it's your loss.

  • @PeakResetProductions -You don't know squat about Richard Thompson if you think his songs are "made of 3 chords". The man is an incredibly talented guitar player. His vocals aren't the greatest admittedly. Oh yeah....Kenny G is the lamest, most limpwristed garbage ever recorded.

  • @PeakResetProductions I suppose someone who thinks Kenny G. is a "musician" obviously is unable to recognize more than three of the many different chords that Richard Thompson uses.

  • A Pat Metheny/Richard Thompson Puritan is a person who is haunted by the fear that someone, somewhere is having fun listening to the "'Dumbest music there ever could possibly be"',,lol

  • There was a joke on Saturday Night Live. It was during a Weekend Update segment and it went like this. He was going over the release of another Kenny G. Christmas album. It went like this. "Happy Birthday Jesus, oh and here's some crap."

  • Yes! Incidentally, better than anything Kenny G ever composed...

  • Whatever. This is just a shitty lazy song. I expect to hear this on the open mic at the local comedy club. Playing to the cheap seats, Mr Thompson?

  • FANTASTIC!

  • Brilliant, this!

  • It's funny watching idiots taking sides on music.

  • LMFAO!! I like both Pat Metheny AND Kenny G....I guess that makes me a Jazz schizophrenic.... ;) This vid is hilarious!!!

  • Once my dentist was drilling on my teeth, and I started laughing. He stopped and asked me if everything was OK...I told him that the drilling didn't bother me, but Kenny G on the 'soft rock' station in the background was much more painful!

  • @dboard99

not all dentists play that kind of music.

  • @dboard99 You could sue him for that.

  • Kenny G jazz? Maybe "Flaccid Jazz".

  • <3

  • @ollyworld I Rarely talk about Kenny G. I don't talk about him as much as I use to especially on my old account in which I slammed and dissed him every single day

  • @GDelva2003 The only time I mention Kenny G its in the same phrase as 'talentless' or 'fecking annoying and in need of a good kick'.

  • It makes Britney sound like Scat???? did i hear that right? HAHAHAHAHAHA

Man i don't usually like this type of insulting parodies but to me Kenny G apart from not being especially talented, has that 'Lust' and sensual demonic spirit of Pop

    music.

Best to avoid in my opinion

  • @smoothbabic Scat singing - it's a type of jazz vocal. Nothing to do with shit (Unless Kenny G is involved, of course).

  • If Pat Metheny is smooth jazz, then Kenny G is shitty jazz. Kenny G doesn't even get the right to be under the title of shitty jazz, nor having jazz tagged along his genre at all. Therefor Kenny G is shitty.

  • so the band is: Kenny G on sax, Otmar liebert on guitar, richard clayderman on keys, yanni playing bass on a synth and we are short of a drummer... people make fun of drummers but there is no drummer fit for the lineup... we need a drummer of a bashable rep fro this line up

  • @14luisalonso There is such an surprisingly obvious choice i'm surprised you missed it: former Genesis skin-basher and Tory shitpop-warbler Phil Collins.

  • @14luisalonso I've got TWO!!! Those faggots who go by the name of Safri Duo.

  • JAJAJAJAJ VIVA THOMPSON AND METHENY!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful World is a pretty sappy pop tune, what's all the bother about? Louie didn't write it, he sold out by singing that crap in the first place. It's no more jazz than Kenny's music is. Sorry but reality, people!

  • @suzukigs It may not be the greatest song ever (although there are worse) but that's not the point. The point is that Louis Armstrong is one of the absolutely foundational figures in jazz, and Kenny G is a crappy soprano sax player who should have had more taste. I personally like the argument that Kenny G really is a jazz musician, because if he is, then he has to be judged by the same standards as any other jazz musician - and on those standards, he totally sucks.

  • @lexo30 Kenny G is a pop/ instrumentalist, not a jazz player. Check out some Grover Washington Jr.; he's Kenny's idol, not 'trane or any of those guys. You probably hate Grover, too; so what?????

  • @suzukigs Metheny argues that since Kenny G plays saxophone and improvises at least some of the time, then he ought to be considered a jazz musician. P.M. goes on to argue that Kenny G ought not to be judged by special standards (i.e. as a 'pop instrumentalist') but by the same standards as anyone else who picks up a sax and plays improvised instrumental music on it. And by those standards, Kenny G is a crappy player. I don't give a shit who his idols are; he is either bad pop or bad jazz.

  • @lexo30 well that's an inane argument, then. Is Brad Paisley to be judged by Wes Montgomery standards because he plays a solo in every one of his songs? See the difference? You don't have to like Kenny's music, you don't become a 'cooler' person by bashing him either. Cheers!

  • @suzukigs Brad Paisley is a damn good guitarist - in fact, I would rather listen to Brad Paisley than Wes Montgomery, but that's partly because Wes made arguably more bad records than Brad Paisley has yet made, but also because I am not a jazz snob. I appreciate good playing in whatever context. Kenny G plays badly, therefore I don't appreciate him. Also, I have never been cool, and therefore I don't need to try to become any cooler than I am. Cheers yourself!

  • @lexo30 well let's agree that Brad is a hell of a country picker and move on. :-)

  • @suzukigs

    Country Music Sucks.

  • @GDelva2003 Spoken like someone who has never been spooked by Hank Williams.

  • @suzukigs Agreed. Peace. :)

  • Kenny G's dub over Louis Armstrong is a piece of shit for sure, but he's committed FAR worse crimes, I think, say... HIS WHOLE FUCKING catalog.

I will admit, though, Kenny G's stupid dub didn't piss me off as much as Celine Dion raping ACDC( They might be brainless pentatonic guys themselves, but I don't care, I grew up on that shit, and at least THEY have some energy to em'.)

  • @MikeBsMovies

    who's he?

  • For Kenny G Fans and the others?, i'm a jazz muso for 20 yrs n i don't enjoy kenny g music and i hate people getting kenny g and kenny garret mixed up. however, ironically, kenny g's music is kinada what got me into jazz n soon i discovered sydney bachet and stan getz and bird n coltrane, dizzy , miles, cannonball n all that. so, kenny g worked sorta like doorman of jazz for me. his music maybe just a premeditated commercial shit but i n many others should give him that! oh n i fxxx hate SNOBS!

  • I'm sure Kenny G. would love to play in the same league as Pat, Kurt Rosenwinkle, Brecker, Bill Evans (sax), etc. But, he can't. If he could, he would. He doesn't have it- he can't hear it or feel it. If he could he would hire DeJohnette, Herbie, Dave Holland or similar and make one motherf%$king burning CD, but he can't.

  • @curiousnomad very funny..dude kenny g is the best player in the world ...show me somebody who has the speed, the sense of melody and the ear always to play the right notes at the right time ,the albumsells, the million dollars, the cars, the houses, collobaration with the greatest musicians (walter afanasieff, david foster, george benson, mike landau, babyface, dan huff, mick guzauski, nathan east, mike thomson,) ,grammy awards, soundtracks, star on "the walk of fame"....whoooooooooooooooo?????

  • kenny g sucks!!!!

  • Kenny G sucks? Really? And guess what... trees are made of wood.

  • @ollyworld you're shit

  • @ollyworld Ugly old drunk man with a horrible voice? Thompson's perhaps the greatest songwriter AND guitarist that has gone, for the most part, under the radar throughout his prolific career. That makes him the perfect person to poke fun at Kenny G, who without talent and without taste, sold those millions of albums to tasteless fans. I don't mean to be spiteful, but seriously what Kenny G does as a musician and a performer is embarrassing. Watered-down and the most compromised music you'll find

  • @ollyworld "kenny is rich" - Doesn't mean he's talented.

"friend of the creme de la creme of musicbuiz" - So he's a name dropper and a crawler.

"and sold millions of albums.." - Nobody lost any money UNDERestimating the taste of the public.

  • @ollyworld Kenny G is rich and has millions of dollars. He is also a shit musician. Louis Armstrong was a great musician, but he was never anything like as rich as Kenny G (that has something to do with the fact that he was black, by the way.) I don't mind you liking Kenny G, but he can barely play his instrument. Just admit that you don't give a shit about whether the music is good or not, as long as the player is rich and famous, and then we know where we stand.

  • @lexo30 ok...think about what you said::kenny g is a shit musician..ok

walter afanasieff, david foster, babyface etc worked with kenny and love him and his playing..

you little peace of nothing wouldnt even be able to play a note on some of their records..

the people who say hes no good musician just express their simple hate for kenny cause they hate the person and the music...thats way too easy

just utube a little and watch him play when he demonstrates a sax at namm w/O a band...

  • *WARNING* THE FOLLOWING TWO WORDS WILL PERMANENTLY DISCOURAGE ALL KENNY G FANS FROM EVER LIKING HIM AGAIN...

    John Coltrane

  • @musicis101 Finally a voice of reason. Timeless, creative music with the the depth of the ages will be here for all time. Kenny G. - I think not. Oh- but I heard he has a good golf game....

  • After thinking about this, I think Richard's next career move should be to write songs that trash ALL popular music. He could move by decade releasing each one as a double and maybe triple CD set.

    "Richard trashes the Big Bands"

    "Richard trashes Be Bop"

    "Richard trashes The British Invasion"

He could be like Weird Al ---- without the humor. I see millions.

  • @chaosIsTheOnlyPower

"After thinking about this, I think Richard's next career move should be to write songs that trash ALL popular music."

Not likely, considering the fact he does a show made up entirely of covers of popular music from all those categories, and more. The man might trash certain "musicians" a little too much, but his appreciation for a very broad range of music, including popular, is well documented.

  • Got lots of friends who like Kenny, most have never heard of you. In fact we saw a Kenny concert on a cold night in Minneapolis. He was fine and gracious on stage and had a band that have been with him for years.

Pat Metheny is the one who sounds all the same to me. Along with you scouser folkies.

Get your own life and lay off the other guys.....Richard....or Dick....whichever you prefer.

  • Comment removed

  • @chaosIsTheOnlyPower - So your reason for saying that Kenny G is a good musician is that a.) he has a nice stage manner and b.) his band has been with him for years? The same is true of both Pat Metheny and Richard Thompson, who is not (by the way) a 'scouser', as you would know if you actually knew what a scouser is. In the meantime, please go on enjoying the shitty music of Kenny G and I hope you won't mind us small minority of good music lovers despising your taste in rubbish.

  • @lexo30 ooo ooo ouch. Boy you really cut me there, man! Boy was I wrong and boy did you teach me a big time lesson.

Richard Thompson is such a god man. He is so, so cool that he can get a bunch of cheap laughs by picking on an easy target! What a stellar guy. What a clever man. God I respect him so much more because you told me what for.

    My whole life has changed!

  • @chaosIsTheOnlyPower - Really? Glad to hear that I've made such a difference. Go in peace, and sin no more.

  • @lexo30 The folkies are united! Run for your lives! They will rubbish anything that isn't true, hard core acoustical "truth." They will rubbish anybody who dares to rubbish a guy like Richard who gets his rocks off by rubbishing guys he doesn't "respect."

I have heard so much about the GREAT Richard Thompson. But all he does is whine - whine about his bad marriage, whine about his hard luck, whine because we all don't love him enough.

    He's a big bearded child.

  • @chaosIsTheOnlyPower - Um, many of RT's songs are written in character. And as for whining - well, you could say exactly the same about pretty much every blues singer (and most country singers) that have ever lived. If you don't like sad songs, tough luck, bubba.

  • @lexo30 hhiiiiiiiiihaa,i love it to discuss on that low level niveau..to let out all the garbage inside..

but dont worry,mate.. kenny is not even 1% of the music i hear...everything at the right time..

    yeah,and i love michael bolton as well,hiiiiiiiiiiihaaaaa!!!

and i also listen to "real" jazz, rnb, hardrock, reggae, funk, country etc....

but never say kenny is no good musician...i play guitar for 30 years on a high level and know when somebody is good& talented...so i laugh at kids like u..

  • @ollyworld Um - didn't understand quite a lot of that but insofar as you argue that Kenny G is a bad musician, I disagree with you.

  • yes. :)

  • !!!!

  • It's interesting how someone who has nothing good to say about others spends their own creative energy on a song that does nothing more than judge other people. What this guy may not realize is this song says more about himself than anyone else. Take a look in the mirror Richard, is it Kenny G that your judging or yourself.

  • @FreeChoiceTV This is a very, very clear review of this song. It says more about the guy throwing the muck than it does about Kenny.

  • c) Are there this many bluehairs on here who feel the need to defend Gorelick? I mean, really? Let's face it: Yanni, Dave Arkenstone & Liberace have all been treated unfairly, too! These musical geniuses deserve recognition! I mean... Kenny fuckin' G? Really? Is it 1990?

  • Is this even an argument?

    a) Clearly Richard is having fun, and no genuine malice is meant. Believe me, someone as wealthy as Kenny G can take a fuckin' joke.

    b) Pat Metheny's original anger came when Kenny Gorelick dubbed himself onto a Louis Armstrong track. To even the most casual jazz fan, this should be in poor taste. To a musician who has dedicated their life to learning/playing jazz, it is an absolute outrage. His original comments are 100 % justified, fan of K.G. or not.

  • Metheny is just jealous of Kenny's hair.

  • lol :)

  • I didn't think I could love anything more than Pat's comments.... until this! XD

  • KENNY G SUCKS LMAO

  • Absolutely hilarious!!!

  • Comment removed

  • lucikin--are you serious? I hope not, because then you'd be dumb. Pat's never claimed to be perfect, but he's also never been so outrageously pretentious as to overdub Louis Armstrong on one of his records. Kenny G's 'music' is an abomination, and he's too enamored with his curls to care. Pat is, beyond any argument, one of the most distinctive and talented jazz artists anywhere.

  • @juantag

Seriously, let's just compare Pat playing Giant Steps to Kenny playing Songbird and see which one is better. Honestly. Christ.

  • @juantag pat mäthini is commercial smooth jazz, nothing more or less

  • @ollyworld Ur a fuckin idiot listen to James, or Bright Sized Life there is nothing "smooth jazz" about it. Kenny G SUCKS

  • I agree with Richard Thompson, now let's start on Michael Bolton!

  • what a wonderful artist Richard Thompson is.

  • "we lay off him and start on Michael Bolton"...LMAO!!!

BTW...I AGREE WITH PAT METHENY KENNY IS A BORING WEENIE...

  • please no ,no ,not micheal bolton gawd ;)

  • "Ha Ha Ha", nice one Richard.

  • You are a tool.

  • That's what I thought...

  • Lyle Mays is a keyboard God.

  • Kenny G is jewish music at it's finest.

  • That is an insult to:

1)Jewish Music (2)Music in general (3) Anyone named Kenny

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • @dannyLnyc Is Kenny Jewish?

  • im jealous and frustrated like pat metheny!real artists like james taylor or joni mitchell or ry cooder dont waste their time thinking about kenny g!

  • You ask James,Joni or Ry for their opinion of Richard Thompson, you wouldn't recognise a "real artist" if one bit you on the arse.

  • Great ditty!! RT can do anything. He's the foremost musician of our times.

  • to all you kenny fans out there, richard thompson is a legend, his career spans 40 years , starting with fairport convention in the 60's to the present day. if you think he's such a no talent idiot, check out his version of the song woodstock at the joni mitchell tribute on utube. kenny g's music is nice, but serious jazz it's not.

  • From Wikipedia: "[Thompson] was named in the top 20 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time"... "Thompson's songwriting has been recognised by an Ivor Novello Award, and, in 2006, a lifetime achievement award from BBC Radio." His '82 album Shoot Out the Lights "was ranked #9 on Rolling Stone's list of the The 100 Greatest Albums of the 80's [and] was ranked number 333 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time."

    Etc., etc.

  • hey G, why don`t you say something....

  • Is that true that Kenny G one time on his website he put "Kenny g, best musician in the history better than Beethoven. Mozart"...??

  • no.

  • Doubtful.

  • Search for "Beeswing" here on YouTube if you're inclined to argue the point..

  • If this rather silly song is the only RT song you've ever heard, you're not in a position to judge. Thompson is one of the greatest British guitarists and songwriters of his generation. Calling him "an idiot with no talent" is so silly that it undermines what I assume is your real point, which is that musicians don't gain anything by slamming one another.

  • no talent?? this guy made this song as a "joke"...obviously wrote it in a stupid way....check out his other songs...

    this guy is great

  • You are obviously talking out of ignorance.

  • That must be the first time I've seen or heard Kenny's name and the word talent in the same sentence.

  • Tycho, don't send a Kenny G fan to listen to a really great Richard Thompson song. That's like, oh, I don't know, expecting a goat to appreciate Impressionist painting. It isn't even fair, to the goat or the painters.

  • Easily the worst comment of all time.

  • Yeah!

Nice to hear the truth about the crap Kenny G puts out; as if he is entitled to use the work of a Master cobbled onto his lightweight noodling.

  • I Agree With Pat Metheny....

  • Well, he does have lovely, crinkley hair.

  • Damn hilarious.

  • Greatest. Song. Ever.
