  • Lovely machines...........I like the US Special Forces!

  • the Taliban have the right to be scared

  • Not to take away from this totally badass video, especially since I work with some former members of the Regiment, but a couple places in there you still have the MH-47D....they've all been upgraded to the Golf model.

Still, totally awesome video and one I'd be proud to show the folks at work. Oh, BTW...I work at Boeing in Ridley Park PA, where we build the -47's.

Thanks to all those who serve!

  • nsdq

  • does the 160th fly apaches ever?

  • @TheDevenrocks No, but there was a project to implement them instead of the MH-60 DAP. There was a competition, but the Apache crews 'lost' (DAP crews had a higher overall score).

So no, they never used them.

  • @MH6M oh thank you. but what about Kendall M. Amazaki, Jr the apache pilot who got in trouble with taking special info. he was in the 160th and flew apache. Was back in 2007 or 2008.

  • @TheDevenrocks As I stated before, there are no Apache helicopters in the 160th. Guys who flew the AH-64 do try out fro the Unit, some are accepted, some are not. Their skills are valuable when they go to Six Guns (AH-6M Little Bird attack company) or other elements in the 160th. Officers ususally man staff posistions, where the actuall flying is done by Warrant Officers. But that is not a solid rulle.

  • @MH6M - im signing up with a 11x MOS with an option 40 contract, i really cannot wait to start my military career. I hope that i will manage to get into the 75th. One thing i truly cannot wait for is to fly on choppers flown by the nightstalkers. Its just amazing what these guys can do with a chopper

  • VERY good video THANKS!!

  • Whopee

  • when i was at ft. hood, putting gas in those awesome machines, even we would talk about "tha 160"! much respect, and I'm glad they got bin laden, let's get tha rest of em too fellas! 27th msb, 1st Cav.

  • Good job getting Bin Laden boys!

  • The 160th SOAR has been around for years - they're not going any where as long as there is a threat to the US. We'll just get better.

  • Night Stalkers

  • so glad there is not some stupid rap song playing right now

  • lol, theme music to the original Unreal game on PC.

  • I love helecopters

  • my dad flew for years since like the 1st day of the gulf war never shot down yet was rejected to join. how much experience do you honestly need their standards are too bloody high...lol nerd rage but i really was hoping to join

  • @TheGnomelandSecurity Its largely based on past perfomance and your reputation as a pilot. NCOs have higher chances to get in but....then again they don't fly the helos. The 160th IS a Special Operations Unit after all...

  • @MH6M Yeah :/ i just fear i wont join before its de activated... i just have a gut feeling it will be :/ maybe i'am beeing silly

  • @TheGnomelandSecurity What gave you that silly idea?

  • @TheGnomelandSecurity One thing about defence, there is always a reason people are rejected, not accepted or withdraw from courses etc. I guess, its up to your father on how honest he wants to be with you as to exactly why he was not accepted into the 160th.

  • 109 sheet heads have viewed this vid.

  • and not one CRAPache helicopter was shown in this video. i don't know why the army decided to waste money on the CRAPache when they could have kept the Cobras or just created more attack Hawks.

  • @cellblock131 apache's arent in this vid because this video is about the 160th... the 160th is for getting the spec ops grunts in where they need to be and back out. the apache is an ATTACK helo. they dont carry troops. this units mission doesnt require apaches. only transport airframes.

  • @junmiguel2007

Hydra rockets are forward firing, but Hellfire missiles are slaved to the TADS system (sp) allowing for greater adjustment.

  • very good video !!!

im more a fan of russian coppa but this is still great !

  • i love Chinook (mainly because it's the only one i have flown in) i got to fly in it for my MJROTC class

    it was just plain aweosme

  • NEVER FORGET... 0:27

  • night stalkers don't quit!

  • I' m x Army(82nd Airborne) had the chance to take flight test, one of the biggest mistakes I ever made not taking it.You keep on top of it man. Good luck hoowah!

  • @Mh6M if I went Warrant as an aviator; I could potentially join the 160th?

  • @Romad33 By all means, if they decide you have what they are looking for.

  • @MH6M Cause I'm Active Duty Air Force at the moment, was a spec ops job but they disqualified me because of a bullshit adopted vision standard.. im getting laser eye surgery next week then looking into Warrant Officer for Army; if it doesn't work out or get accepted then I'll go back to my spec ops job- but I'd LOVE to fly

  • @Romad33 Transfer for offciers from Air Force to Army has been made more easy in the160th lately.

  • props to the SOAR they fly us in and out of the thick

  • what are the main choppers that they use?

  • @jony1710 Highly modified versions of the UH-60, CH-47 and OH-6.

  • Yeah, no such thing as unmarked black helicopters. Back to American Idol.

  • The choppers these men fly and fight from are awsome weapons in them selves ....

But.... It is the young men who leap from them that will track, locate, fight, capture, or kill anyone or anything they are pointed at and unleashed against . May god have pitty on anyone who meet's these men in the night becouse we will not !

  • I live 1 hour away from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. I go there sometimes because my dad's in the Army National Guard. man o man I love that place. They got the 160th Soar,5th special forces group,101st Airforce Division, and something else stationed there...a GREAT base.

  • @sarge958 try the 101st AIRBORNE not airforce

  • @blackhawksoldier1

Best Crashhawk pilot I ever flew w/ was a female warrant.

That woman could make that bird tapdance.

  • get some !

  • i love the way they flare for landing, awesome bit of piloting.

  • That is such a badass into!!!

  • I love you all more than you know!

    3/75 RTLW

  • wow dude on a motorcycle. didnt know the military used motorcycles anymore

  • СУПЕР

  • loved to watch that video! very nice

  • Some badass chopper dudes here. I'm sure glad they're on our team. Hey bin Laden, better stay in that cave......look who we've got trying to find your sorry ass!

  • Why bother to title this video as "Best helicopter unit in the world - 160th SOAR(A)"? We already know they're the best in the world! Hooah!

  • Hooah to that

  • 160th SOAR is more than just bad ass Pilots. Its the Mechanics, Crew Chiefs, Door Gunners, Flight Medics. All of them make up the most bad ass Special Ops helicopter unit on the planet.

  • @ajr666

the 160th are the ones who take you to the gates of hell and bring you back home. Every single time.

    NSDQ

  • Respect to this fine unit.

Hopefully GAU-19, NOTAR technology and the MV-22 Osprey will find their way into the arsenal of the 160th

  • The've been tested. The GAU-19 is being used by DAP crews and mounted on AH-6M Little Birds. The NOTAR concept was tested but didn't meet the units demands. As for the Osprey - it's not a helicopter.....'nuff said.

  • @superwout super

  • little birds are amazing

  • @angusshipe

The reading at the beginning is from the prologue of a book called the Nightstalkers about the unit. Good book.

  • are there any apache ah-64s in the 160th?

  • Nope. There was a test to see which platform was better for weapons carry. AH-64 Apache and a MH-60L DAP were tested. Long story short the MH-60 DAP won and the 160th decided to stick with the MH-60. But the fact is that - at least at the time - MH-60 DAP crews had A LOT more range time than Apache crews, thats why they won. The 160th decided they don't need a dedicated attack helicopter like the AH-64 Apache. hope that answeres your question.

  • @headradioak the 30mm round is typically not needed in special operations. Two mini-guns are much more effective against unarmored personnel.

  • kickass:D oh and nice poem thing at the beggining :]

  • Thanks for pulling our asses out of the shit! luv the 160th Hooahh! 1/75 68w

  • bad asssssssssssssssssss

  • 160th! HOOAH!

  • i grew up around army helicopters and saw them do a lot of really cool things AA missions, refuel, evasive maneuvers, all practice and this movie still gave me chills. i can't wait till i can go to air assault school, this movie is awesome.

  • which chopper are you hoping to fly?

  • nice vid... nice clips and nice choice of music

  • Awesome Video .... Thanks to all of the Military and a Special thanks to the Night Stakers

  • Night Stalkers are the best helicopter pilots in the world PERIOD

  • Night Stalkers are the best helicopter pilots in the world PERIOD!

  • Thank you Sir/Ma'am, may I have another!!!

  • deer sir..

    the start is tey lamesauce.

    teh lolvideo why has 4.5stars?

lol owned noobs for saying PICTURESISCOOLVIEOS!!!!!

  • Could someone please tell me what this narration in the beginning is from. Please and thank you.

  • Intro from "The Night Stalkers" audiobook by M. Durant.

  • Thank you very much good sir.

  • thanks for that

  • @MH6M an excellent book :)

  • a black chinook.... how enthraling. *goes and studies of aeronautical science*

  • I was reading "Nightstalkers" by Mike Durrant and at one point he says blackhawk pilots remove their doors normally only when they are by the sea. Is that for quicker escapes in a water landing or what? and what about the littlebirds? do they ever put the doors on?

  • Doors are removed because its easier to see outside the aircraft. Little Bird pilots never put doors on. Its all in the book - a great book by the way =]

  • mike durant

    helicopter crash survivor in somalia

    great man

  • and if the doors are shut you cant get out cause of the pressure from the water

  • Yes. PJs that are part of Special Tactics Squadrons in the USAF Special Operations Command often work with Night Stalkers. As we speak there are special ops exercises in Croatia where PJs and other SOF units from Europe are training with the 160th SOAR(A).

  • if i wasnt joining the british army, that woud be the one i would join if i was american !! you guys are the best, you wont find a better regiment for delivering troops into battle !

  • you can still join the usaf if you get some american papers which can't be that hard

  • Respect

  • 4:25 he is waterproof ? stop just for fun =D nice vid dude !

  • Yeah my buddy was in mogadishu and was an operator that landed on the roof of the target house. He said these pilots r amazing. ok he said A-MA-ZING, but in either case he said that there isn't a better group for delivering soldiers in the world and anyone who disputes that quite simply doesn't know what they r talking about.

  • They were the pilots in the Battle of Mogadishu(Black Hawk Down)

  • MH6M is right read Night Stalkers it is a good book about the 160th SOARs deployments and creation.

  • Isn't this an excerpt from "The Night Stalkers?" lol Favorite book, read it at least 6 times. It's the reason I'm going into army aviation, that and my semi-romantic relationship with helicopters lol i love them.

  • Yes, the very same.

  • Thought so, thanks for the response.

  • Excellent.. Thank you for sharing this with us...

  • are night stalkers ground combative?or do they just stay in choppers.

  • FARP teams are trained in ground combat.

Read "Night Stalkers" by M. Durrant and S. Hartov to learn more.

  • Did micheal durrant write books? kool

  • nice video ..

    greetings from brazil

  • My brother joined the 160th soar just a couple of weeks ago.

    badass video man =]

  • I wish him the best.

  • thank you.

  • nice helicopters i wish i will fly in one of this one time

  • What a bullshit.

  • I wonder whats more hilarious - your comment or the fact that you are a 25-y.o. airsofter putting up a vid of you doing a failure drill using toy guns ?

The gene pool needs more chlorine....

  • Speaking bout this airsoft stuff from your own experience? No, sorry you don't seem 25, rather 16. You really think that guys from 160'th call themselves "operators"? They just do their job and laugh at guys like you - jerking off when they hear "they own the night". Probably the best military helo pilots in the world.

Stick to patches with morale boosters buddy. Wish you best - grow up.

  • Truth be told I'm a 23 - y.o. Army NCO.

    So, what now big man.

And no, they are not 'operators'. Do a little more research next time.

    Go away now please.

  • some of these ppl maybe need to realize MH6M seems pretty damn knowledgable and being around these guys umm... well his Username 'MH6M' should be a pretty damn good indicator that he pry is around them too.

  • I'm flatered =]

But I'm no Night Stalker, I'm not even in the US military. I'm a NCO in the Polish Army - no more, no less.

  • well im impressed on how much uk...u seem to know quite a bit..

    NSDQ

  • "they own the night" nicely finished

  • 160 NightStalkers RULES!!

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love how their are mostly rangers ropping out of the birds =]

  • Mostly, not all though.

  • Their attached to CINC Snake aren't they? Meaning they provide support to all spec ops units from any branch of the US armed forces.

  • Night Stalk Aka Death waits in the dark !!

  • they came out of darkness not because they chose to,but their capabilities & reputation preceded them. They were combat tested & combat proven...battles are about improvising, adapting & overwhelming your enemy the faster you learn to do that the better the outcome

  • We are the US of A. Do. Not. Mess. With. Us.

  • Intro sounds like someone talking about fucking mosquitos.

    "They own the night"

  • lol nice

  • LMFAO

  • I wonder why they attacked in the day time in somalia.

  • they were assualting a building where the meeting of some VIPs were going on.. and that meeting happened to be during the day.

  • The meeting they raided was during the day, whereas prior to that the enemy tried to use the cover of night as an advantage so they attacked at night. The enemy learned and adapted, key concepts in combat.

  • The intro is so godamed cool :-D

  • i salute the nightstalkers-CHF WRNT OFCR ALAN GIROUX

  • As inhumane as this sounds, I always thought it would be fun to mow down an infantry unit with a Little Bird sporting dual gatling guns. :o

  • Yup, sure would =]

  • Damn right...

  • I met two Nightstalkers 6 years ago - both had flown the mission in Mogadishu on October 3, 1993, the "Blackhawk Down" incident. It was amazing to see their tremendous humility and at the same time to be unable to shake the feeling that I was in the presence of gods. Warriors, these men, and the best damned pilots the world has ever seen.

God bless the 160th SOAR. Incredible, incredible pilots.

  • was he in one of the helicopters that got shot down or the other ones that didn't go down

  • Good video. I really liked the music. What is it?

  • I was in this unit

  • were you?

  • The 160th has the best helo pilots in the Army. I remember reading about them years ago. They get first crack at new kit and they utilize it to the fullest. I think they're the first ones to try inflight helo re-fueling in 85' or 89', I think it was 85'. They now fly the new CH-47G Chinook. A great helo.

  • Minor nit, it's technically a MH-47G.

  • ughhh man i would love to play with a DAP :(

and the shot of the chinook going through the river was prolly the most sickness in the video ;)

  • Great, our soldiers have "soulless eyes". Does the writer understand that is a BAD thing?

"Determined eyes", "relentless eyes" -- OUR soldiers are not supposed to be automatons.

Nice military porn you've made here.

  • actually he was talking about the helicopter

listen after he talks about the pilot

  • The music is the ending track for the first Unreal game made by Epic Games

  • oh man, this is a great video. Where did you get this song? it's awesome

  • Good video. I really liked the music. What is it?

  • God i hope i fly for them 10 years from now

  • Nice Job!!!!!

  • I loved the chinook and the modified blackhawk i did a little bit with the little bird but not much great guys there just like the green beret really mellow and fun to hang out with . Ssgt Ryan 1/75th rgt.

  • Nice vid, loved the movie Black Hawk Down, faved it and Subscribed

  • the funny thing is, during the last attack on mogadisue, the night stalkers flew in brawd daylight even though they are trained fo night

    NSDQ.

  • It wasnt an attack in Somalia, it was an attack in the Pakistan border area.

    They used DAPs.

  • SOAR = Special Ops Air Regiment?

  • Special Operations Aviation Regiment

  • 160th SOAR. didnt they operate in somalia??

  • Yes, Mike Durrant the guy who was captured and held prisoner was a Night Stalker. the whole Black hawk down event was about the Night Stalkers. they lost (i think) 4 choppers that day. but they are still the best. any other grp of ppl other then the 160th, Delta, and the marines that were there would have been slaughtered. i give them and any1 who fights for us ALL the respect i can.

  • 3 were shot down (two crashed in the city, Super62 made a controlled crash landing on the airfield).

  • They werent Marines they were Rangers and Delta

  • Great video!

I enjoyed all the "FLIR" footage, many of those images are new for me.

Do you think that the "armed" UH-60 is the american answer to the Mi-24? (it is: an armed helicopter that still can transport some troops?)

  • No. The MH-60 DAP is the brainchild of Cliff Walcott, and was made to support the Regiment's operations where earlyer they only had the AH-6 as a pure offensive helo - a "killer hunter".

The MI-24 was made for the Red Army and it's purpuse is to do fast attacks on enemy targets and instalations. In Afghanistan it reacked havoc among the mudżahedin.

  • Thanks !

  • Night Stalkers by M.Durrant and S. Hartov

  • that is an awesome book..hav u read in the company of heroes??

  • Yup. I really enjoed the part when he could not fire the damn miniguns because of some burned out fuze. Talk about bad luck LOL

  • that would be wicked to get raided by some badass us special forces
