car sounds solid - no odd noises other than slight rear end or transmission wine at low speed... im sure only noticeable due to the fact that the camera tripod is attached to the floor
Found this video again. Keeps me motivated to get me a 64 Impala one day. But yet too young and without the money and living far in Eastern Europe. I'm kinda into the Lowriders so I'd love to have a 64 with hydraulics, but I love it how you keep it stock and clean just like you want it.
Wow man i give this thumbs up.!! your soo lucky you have this take good care of her n make sure your interior dont get riped up by the dog cuz iits a real pain to fix but Really nice wipe keep it old school for life.!
I'm from Brazil and I have a Chevrolet Opala 1974 4 doors. I'm crazy for 64 Impala 4 doors hardtop, the most beautiful car ever made. Very nice video!
Aw the sounds. Great! I grew up with a 64 witht he same 327/250 with air. The sounds bring back a lot of memories. Especially remember the 6 turns lock to lock on the steering! 4 Door Hardtops are the unsung heros of the collectable car market.
That is one beautiful car there! The 1964 Chevy Impala has always been and will always be my favorite car of all time! I can't wait to get mine and I want a convertible so I can enjoy the air while driving down roller coaster roads =)
And you have a really nice Impala there! And good driving skills there!
Boy, I swear everytime I see a 64 Impala I feel like your dog lol!
Thanks for posting this and have fun driving Betty around!
Thanks! A '64 Impala has always been my dream car, too. I grew up and learned to drive in one. Will have had Betty 10 years this February. More pictures at stories at my Web site gdwriter-dot-com
You are very lucky guy then! I havent got even opportunity to sit in Impala, but somehow I still like them very much. I live in Estonia(that's why my English is bad) and in Estonia there is no 64' Impala, I know only there is one 58', one 59' and one 62' and thats it! It's because Estonia is European country and we have only European and Japanese cars.
This video was shot mostly on Vitae Springs and River Road between Independence and Salem, Oregon. My dog was with me in the car; he's just quieter once we get going.
Ahhh, the good old days. 2 speed powerglide that was nice and smooth, steering that was umteen turns lock to lock (LOL) and they didn't need power brakes. They rode comfortable too. That's the kind of car that is perfect for a Sunday afternoon drive to "out there somewhere". When I see one trashed with air springs, and other childs toys, I feel sick.
Unfortunately the days of joy riding are coming to an end with gas being so high. Beautiful Impala too, I wish you'd have shown the whole thing. But hey the door is looking good.
Big older cars are trickier to drive. Especially with the rear wheel drive. But, seeing as how 16 year olds in the 60's had to drive cars like these, I can't see what the problem is, assuming the car is in good shape.
I gotta give you credit, you seem to be a pretty good driver. I wish everyone els on the road was that good. I bet 90% of the accidents you hear about could be avoided if that were the case...especially since I was a recent victim of one...but that's another story...
Nice job positioning the camera. That 327 purrs really nice, it has a perfect mild rumble to it. Dash looks nice too, you didn't mess it up with an aftermarket radio like so many others do. Is it a factory A/C car? I plan on getting a 63 2DHT soon.
No, I'm at about 178,000. I like to drive it at least once a week, but right now, it's been raining, and the car's clean, so it's been sitting in the garage.
Still a ways to go yet. Yeah, it's good to keep them running and the charging system from going bad. Do you use a buffer on it? What kind of mileage does it get?
Not at all. It's a very easy car to drive (power steering and brakes help), and the only time it feels big is when I'm parking in a tight spot. I learned to drive in a car like this, and I drive it enough that I feel completely comfortable.
You know, you could do that trip alot faster and do some fun cornering if you had my car. It's a '94 Ford Escord. Lets switch. Just send your Impala overhere and I'll return my Ford ;)
Wow, that thing really barks (and I don't mean the dog LOL). Looks like you got a nice Caddy, too. What year? Can you make a video of that one, too? Nice driving also, maybe you should consider being a chauffer.

great vid! How did you mount the camera?
railmogul2 3 years ago
I had it mounted on a tripod, with the tripod's legs secured by bungee cords wrapped around the seat-belt anchors.

Nice car!!
my dad found this and told me to take a look at how the roads wind and such.
I think it's pretty cool, because it is just like a roller coaster.
I live in FL and it's not like that down here.
&& cute puppy =D

Thanks! I love this road as well. I think of it as my personal roller coaster. The dog is pretty great, too.

Very true. This car is such a pleasure to drive. Chevrolet advertised the "Jet Smooth" ride, and it is.

As I tell people when asked when I'm going to put hydraulics on Betty, "around the 12th of NEVER."
My beautiful Betty will remain the way God and General Motors intended.
