Or maybe you're talking about weeks? "Fully conscious" is a slippery attribute though, it's believed that "full" consciousness isn't gained before the age of 13-15. Conscious is also a vague attribute.
And I doubt that the first heart beat is within 18 days. We're talking about Very early stages here.

But just like we cant allow a person to commit suicide we cant allow a person to kill a body in a body. why? It takes her food, and water and genes to develop a into a separate entity.

The euthanasia is about letting people who want to die go their way and not extend their life. The abortion issue is about a woman's right to do with her body what she wants. As I see it, the two major problems with the death penalty are that 1) it doesn't work as a deterrent (and sometimes the opposite - when some nut in Japan goes on a killing spree, a lot of the time they turn around and say "my life is hell - give me the death penalty") 2) you can never be completely sure that every person convicted actually committed the offense in question.

Or maybe you're talking about weeks? "Fully conscious" is a slippery attribute though, it's believed that "full" consciousness isn't gained before the age of 13-15. Conscious is also a vague attribute.
And I doubt that the first heart beat is within 18 days. We're talking about Very early stages here.

The euthanasia is about letting people who want to die go their way and not extend their life. The abortion issue is about a woman's right to do with her body what she wants. The death penalty refers to the worst of the criminals that, you could say, true deserve it.

As I see it, the two major problems with the death penalty are that 1) it doesn't work as a deterrent (and sometimes the opposite - when some nut in Japan goes on a killing spree, a lot of the time they turn around and say "my life is hell - give me the death penalty") 2) you can never be completely sure that every person convicted actually committed the offense in question.
