Seriously impressed. Landings smooth as butter. You say its challenging for yourself, but you sure don't make it look that way. You back country pilots are REAL pilots. I would love a chance to get some of that experience. King airs and lancairs get boring after a bit.
i have seen a couple of your videos and i have just thought it was amazing,, just out of curiosity have you thought about doing what you have done to your super cub to a carbon cub??? none the less it is amazing, i am only 19 and i have my commercial pilots licence here in australia and one day i hope to be able to do the flying you do over there, just out of curiosity have you ever nosed over with that type of flying???
Incredible flying, and just look at that scenery. So much of my life so far I've wanted to be a pilot of sorts, like many, I think of airline jobs, corporate jets etc..which I'd love to do. But since I've discovered the Bush flyers and pilots, I'm realising this is where the real incredible skill is, and amazing rewarding scenery and terrain to fly in. This is life...I'd love to do this someday. Thanks for posting this mauleguy, greatly appreciated. Happy flying to you from Australia.
This is one of the best videos i have seen on youtube so far. Many thanks for taking the time to make it and share it with us all over the world. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.
I could do this. Wait till my video comes out featuring an ultralight version of the cub. It's called, Pebbles and broken props. featuring all the great stuff these expensive machines can do but in a machine a tenth of the price.
That's a great demonstration on speed/ decent control on landing. The challenge I see is to be at low enough speed that by the time ground effect is entered and flare is initiated, most energy has been dissipated so the dang thing won't float down the LZ. That is the holy grail of tight landings.
@mauleguy I remember you from the Alaskan STOL fly-in! Did you see that one crash? I subscribed to you! Beautiful plane! This was a kit, correct? Consider maybe putting the flaps all down on takeoff, and when you are in the air, reduce them to the normal setting, as to not encourage flap stress. You get off the ground quick, and dont damage the flaps! Beautiful plane though...flying is the only thing that amazes me!
@Corvette35000 not to sound harsh, but pretty sure that in order to fly like this....you need hundreds upon hundreds of hours in your A/c to be comfortable with it....pretty sure greg knows what he's doin
Thanks for sharing superb :)

Awesome angle of climb there. Whats the thrust/weight ratio? Have you tried prop hanging it? ;)

how much coast a super cub?
rafanhoo 1 year ago
@rafanhoo A super cub, all though somewhat draggy can coast quite a ways, Just keep it in the best L/D speed and she'll coast pretty fine.
