If only tonight we could sleep in a bed made of flowers if only tonight we could fall in a deathless spell if only tonight we could slide into deep black water and breathe and breathe... Then an angel would come with burning eyes like stars and bury us deep in his velvet arms And the rain would cry as our faces slipped away and the rain would cry Don't let it end...

Ich hoffe das the Cure 2012 wieder ein Album produziert wie damals 1987 oder 1986...mehr Bässe, Piano, kraftvoller Sound und Gothic....keine Pop Songs...

Oh I love this Song!!! And the most I love about it is the guitarr solo from robert!! he plays it with such a feeling...Man this guy is awsome!! It's a shame I never heard them live...Does anybody know if the will play again in germany??
@TheCureRSX I hope you're joking. Bloodflowers is their best by far. It's maybe just too deep and non-commercial for the regular Cure fan I guess. I still hope you're joking.
végén a plébános 2002 novemberében a show Tempodrom Berlinben, 1943 körül épült, Robert Smith a klasszikus gitár "kiáltása" a két epikus éjszaka több mint három órányi felvétel ..
Beautiful, haunting & melancholic love song, the layers of guitar are mesmerising......always loved this song & this live performance is so soulful & atmospheric.
I've been trying to figure out what the alternate tuning is that the backup guitarist uses in this song. Does anyone know what the tuning is? I would really appreciate the help on this! Thanks!
Disintegration Remastered is #1 in sales in the new wave category in Amazon and #50 in general sales for now.
So it means that 1) we -"hardcore fans"- are more in number than the newbies like you. Or 2) More people know that Disintegration is WAY BETTER than all the latest albums with jason pretending to play the drums.... :)
@80musikaG I think you'll find that those number mean nothing at this time because for a while 4:13 for a in the TOP TEN OF GENERAL SALES AND PRE-ORDERS on Amazon.
It proves nothing until the chart comes out, which while the remaster might get higher in the UK chart than 4:13 dream did, I can't see it getting higher than number 7, 8 or 12 like Self-titled, Bloodflowers and Wild Mood Swings respectively.
@80musikaG Worst in what sense? In the Billboard 200 chart Disintegration peaked at 12, as did WMS and Bloodflowers while Self-Titled peaked at 7. I agree with you that Disintegration was better (maybe not than Bloodflowers) but to completely disregard facts is complete bullcrap.
Disintegration is only loved because people can't let that era of the band go and because its gained some sort of mythical cult-status. There are at least 2 better albums.
Kyle Brofloski shouted: Disintegration is the best album ever and I agree :)
Talking seriously, I've been a fan since 1985 and after hearing my Disintegration LP (Vinyl) for the first time, I thought that I've heard their best work until then. That was my opinion in 1989 and remains until now.
I love that compact wall of sounds from instruments that interact perfectly one with the other. It's perfect. Also I loved those uncommon drum patterns of Boris, not present in any other Cure drummer.
Yes it was...but this was played after the bloodflowers set as an encore song along with the song "The Kiss", both from the 1987 kiss me kiss me kiss me album... great show
By the way, just one observation. You say that The Cure isn't even awesome and then you include them in your "elite" list of great bands. First make up your own mind. Your own contradictory statement is in itself a proof of their greatness.
There is one problem with Radiohead, though. They can't write catchy pop sounding songs like The Cure. In terms of variety of moods conveyed in songs, no-one can match The Cure.
Robert Smith is a great guitarist. Simon Gallup is a fantastic bass player also. You can see why the Cure were picked for "The Crow" music score.....Just class.
This kind of music sounds so versatile, you could stick it in so many genres of movies and videogames and stuff, and yeah, Smith is a great guitarist, although admittedly the first time i saw this song on tv i though it was an instrumental, like a bunch of other Cure songs.
Yes, you are right. Actually, one of the things I find objectionable is that "best guitarist" is often judged only on how skilled one is on the guitar rather than how a mood is created on the guitar (and this depends a lot on where to play and when to play as well... like making use of space). Robert Smith is a master of that. I think people like him will always be underrated because everyone is looking for a Steve Vai or a Van Halen to crown. Great guitarists but nothing sticks in my brain!
very eloquently put. i have seen more than my share of technically brilliant guitarists playing in blues bars...sure, it's hard to do, but hardly captivating. the silence and precision and.....i don't know...atmosphere he puts into seemingly simple riffs is something worthy of more praise than a face-melting key-changing, blindingly fast riff. anyone can play the opening to 'a forest', but few can make those 5 notes sound like he does. thank you....
@MarkusCallaway2006 I'm not so sure he's that underrated. Some pretty well known and successful guitarists and musicians name him has a major influence.. Dave Navarro being one of the most vocal about Smith's overall abilities and style.
@MarkusCallaway2006 and so humble about it too. I remember seeing him interviewed where he was saying he was a rubbish guitarist, compared to people like Johnny Marr.
still gets the hairs on the back of my neck standing to attention all right. Especially in some of the 80s live versions of The Forest, where he just goes hell for leather
I just can't help but say again and again that this is a great composition. This track along with so many other Cure tracks will always stand the test of time.

There is one problem with Radiohead, though. They can't write catchy pop sounding songs like The Cure. In terms of variety of moods conveyed in songs, no-one can match The Cure.
ajittffcure 2 years ago 3
why is that a problem?
you wouldn't say "the thing with Jimi Hendrix is that he wasnt' very good at writing 18 minute concerto's"
or
"you know, Miles Davis was great, but he never really cracked the heavy metal market did he? "
I know what you mean, and I do utterly love their catchy pop stuff, but being diverse doesn't make them better. just different
