It proves nothing until the chart comes out, which while the remaster might get higher in the UK chart than 4:13 dream did, I can't see it getting higher than number 7, 8 or 12 like Self-titled, Bloodflowers and Wild Mood Swings respectively.

@80musikaG Worst in what sense? In the Billboard 200 chart Disintegration peaked at 12, as did WMS and Bloodflowers while Self-Titled peaked at 7. I agree with you that Disintegration was better (maybe not than Bloodflowers) but to completely disregard facts is complete bullcrap.

Disintegration is only loved because people can't let that era of the band go and because its gained some sort of mythical cult-status. There are at least 2 better albums.

Talking seriously, I've been a fan since 1985 and after hearing my Disintegration LP (Vinyl) for the first time, I thought that I've heard their best work until then. That was my opinion in 1989 and remains until now.

I love that compact wall of sounds from instruments that interact perfectly one with the other. It's perfect. Also I loved those uncommon drum patterns of Boris, not present in any other Cure drummer.

Yes, you are right. Actually, one of the things I find objectionable is that "best guitarist" is often judged only on how skilled one is on the guitar rather than how a mood is created on the guitar (and this depends a lot on where to play and when to play as well... like making use of space). Robert Smith is a master of that. I think people like him will always be underrated because everyone is looking for a Steve Vai or a Van Halen to crown. Great guitarists but nothing sticks in my brain!

very eloquently put. i have seen more than my share of technically brilliant guitarists playing in blues bars...sure, it's hard to do, but hardly captivating. the silence and precision and.....i don't know...atmosphere he puts into seemingly simple riffs is something worthy of more praise than a face-melting key-changing, blindingly fast riff. anyone can play the opening to 'a forest', but few can make those 5 notes sound like he does. thank you....
