  • could someone please tell me in which cartoon one of the character sings a part of "As time goes by" ? many thanks

  • @3:21 "nice looking chapeau"

  • AAAAAHAHAHAHAHA.......I'm a disgwace to da wegiment! LMAO!!!

I love these old cartoons. They're the best!

  • I love that minstrel show ending.

  • no one is stoping African Americans from making fun of 'THE MAN" in cartoons...this is NOT racist...it was common back then. he didnt SAY anything remotely racist. It looked like a tribute more than a put down. It's a shame they snipped the ending off t prints that ere show non TV (TBS, NIK, etc)

  • 6:18 It's so funny when he cries cuz he can't catch Bugs. XD

  • I knew Bugs was racist but you too Elmor? Please say it ain't so?

  • Elmer got fat.

  • 6:20 poor Elmer ='(

  • toss us all in a blender and then see what colour we are. Time for the world folks to grow up!!

  • I Love When Elmer Cries he sounds so funny

  • Oh my...

Does watching Elmer chase Buggs around EVER get old? I don't think so! :D

  • mounted police.lol.Never got that as a kid

  • Oh now I get why the guys at the ending look that way. They were sort of depicted as the black americans before.

That is, I wasn't sure before when I first watched this cartoon why they were looking like that. Now I get it.

How come I've watched this on TV but says this cartoon is banned? I need an answer.

P.S. I'm not a racist in any way.

  • TH94FREIHEIT: The reason this version is "banned" is because of that final scene. The version you see on TV now is edited - that last scene "irises out" as Bugs is singing "Dixie," and goes straight to the outro.

The version shown today does not have this final scene with Bugs, Elmer and the firing squad singing "Camptown Races" in the middle of a Southern cotton field.

  • Oooh. Ok, thanks so much. Now I understand. :)

  • lol rabbit, elmer, rabbit, elmer, rabbit, elmer, hot lady, elmer.... elmer looks bac to see the figure of the lady XD lol classic

  • my fault.i accidentally made a rating of 1 out of 5.forgive me.

  • Whoa! This is so risque! The pin-up model captioned "Mounted Police"! The picture of Bugs Bunny made to look like Hitler!

  • "conduct unbecoming to a wabbit"

LOL I wonder if that "Conduct" had anything to do with the end of A Feather in his Hare.

  • did elmer fudds name use to be little egg head

  • Yep

  • lets not bring all this racisim talk into this if your a true fan of bugs bunny and his crazyness then it shouldnt be mentionaed at all

  • People keep talking bout the racism in cartoons. Look at the dates on these cartoons. When these cartoons were created it was a time of high racism so of course the cartoon is gone reflect the time period just like shows and movies that are created today. It should be looked at in its context. Besides us black people make racism jokes all the time and don't nobody complain about it....

P.S I been black for 22yrs and it's still funny to me

  • Exactly! I don't understand why people don't look at the time period. It's a reflection of the way society was back then. Besides the fact that, even today we have racist stereotypes of black people. Being that, they're all 'gangstah thugs'. Mostly, anyway. No one seems to comment on that.

  • @ninjapiratess

Hell that doesn't make it right. It's all wrong and blackface is offensive. If these were adult cartoons it can be considered a satire but since it's for kids it's inappropriate. They may get the wrong idea.

  • @ninjapiratess Well Said, couldnt have said it better myself :)

  • 5:51 to 5:58 is just plain lol!

  • Classic <3

  • At first I was wondering why you were all saying this was racist, then I saw the ending olol

  • it aint fair how white people cant say racist things without becoming a national hysteria but blacks can go around saying whatever they want about whites..thats dumb

  • Comment removed

  • @jumpinDJ4Jesus

said in cartoons,... i dont think so

  • @BlueDolphin2011 You're both wrong. Looney Tunes were originally shown in theatres (to which children rarely were allowed access) right before the movie. And to jumpinDJ4Jesus, anybody spouting racist comments is usually seen for the idiot they are, it's just some people remember the times when blacks were not even allowed their own opinions, and through guilt make lest protestations than they ought. In other words, darling67 is right.

  • Funny that Elmer uses Bugs as a gun and Bugs goes Bang! Bang! Bang!

  • oh the hell with u people. this is just another great classic bugs bunny cartoon. it really doesn't bother me at all.

  • this is acceptable the way it is acceptable for blacks to be racist today

  • Well, not that I am trying to defend anything, but alot of "urban humour" uses the same kind of stereotypical imagery and mocking with stereotypes to white people as they used to do for the colored folk back in the day. It's entirely the same kind of insensitive treatment today as it was back then. How its deemed appropriate to laugh at someone for being white and not the other way around is incredible to me.

  • lol i rememebr the cartoon but grown up now and seeinng the ending is funny but yet makes me sad but funny but sad

  • Well that's good you feel that way. If you didn't then that would mean you're ignorant on human relations. But yeh, I appreciate these cartoons as the benchmarks of the mentality of the times.

  • wesisting an officer, assault and battewy, twespassing, disturbing the peace, miscellaneous misdemeanors, pubwic nuisance, twaffic viowations, going through a bouwevard stop, jay walking, twiple parking, conduct un-becoming to a rabbit, viowating twaffic wegulations

wow, quite a criminal history for bugs bunny

    rofl & lmao!!!

  • LOL Elmer wears a girdle

  • I remember this cartoon! We had a tape of it when I was a kid. ^^

  • Me too! It was on a tape with "The Wabbit Who Came to Supper" and "Case of the Missing Hare". The ending is simply a product of their time. For some, it's funny (I'm not saying it can't be). For some, it's offensive. To all, it's racist and stereotypical. But cutting the ending's like saying that blackface never existed. I consider this a history lesson and a childhood memory.

  • Elmer looks less fat than his previous cartoons, not to mention his next cartoon restores him to his original size.

  • quit hating these are the best cartoons ever enjoy them while they last

  • is thewe an episode whewe Elmew finally kills the fuckin wabbit?

  • Wow...that end surprised me, but I'm not mad at it because this is how it was back then (just like Bugs kissing a man wasn't considered homosexual). Now if they pulled something like this now, let's just say there won't be some happy campers.

  • the old looney tunes dealt alot with stereotypes and had more violence. The Golden Age of cartoon was the best compared to the crap they have now on t.v.(camp Lazlo, My Gym Partners a monkey)

  • lol yeah I actually noticed that! Another thing was that, obviously, a guy kissing a guy or a guy cross-dressing was actually considered a funny thing( Bugs kissing Elmer Fudd, Bugs dressing like a woman to trick them).

  • @WillbotProductions Hey, Camp Lazlo was my favorite nostalgic CN cartoon.

  • get over the fact that america is racisct

  • America isn't racist. Back then nobody, even african americans, never found that racist. By today's standards, it's offensive. It's important for you stupid republicans to remember the time this was made. And stereotypes have existed since Adam and Eve.

  • lol!!! elmer is SUCH a crybaby in the end!!

hee-ho,"waaaa!im a disquace to the wedgeimense!!!waaaaaaa!!!" oh,brother!that STILL makes me laugh!!

  • Anyone have "Elmer's Gold" pls, post if u have it!

  • I never understood the wolf whistle for that certain key..can somebody explain it to me.

  • It's the key to his girlfriend's apartment.

  • There used to be a custom in the 20's of keeping lingerie in a locked wardrobe. It was the wardrobe key.

  • They need to release this cartoon on the next Golden Collection DVD set. They need to release ALL OF THE CLAMPETT BUGS BUNNY SHORTS ON THE NEXT LOONEY TUNES SET

  • Actually, that could just happen. The next set (which will be released on Oct. 30th) will have a disc for Bob Clampett cartoons. Although, I don't know why I'm talking about Bob Clampett on the comments for a Friz Freleng-directed cartoon.

  • This was made by Friz Freleng

  • Total nonsense.

America...and the world...is full of racists. America has always practiced racism.

The creators of these cartoons knew what they were doing. They were racist. It was just more acceptable back then. But saying no one was offended is bullshit.

  • if this is racist then what about using the word nigger in rap 'music' lyrics, or whoopi goldberg using the word nigger on the view, or ted danson showing up in black face, or blacks on sports teams refering to each other as nigger,.... need i continue?

there is a word for it and it is called

    HYPOCRISY!!

  • The Ted Danson thing made headlines because it WASN'T thought of as acceptable, so I don't see your point.

And just because rappers use the word doesn't mean it's okay. And that also has nothing to do with the cartoons from the 40's and 50's. Rap did not exist back then.

As to your hypocrisy claims...humans are hypocritical...newsflash.

  • if you are wanting parcel intent and meaning from the racist aspect then you cannot compare the cartoons of the 40s and 50s to what is going on today. besides black people go APE when a white person uses the word nigger but yet say nothing when rapper's use it or they refer to one another as niggers. it is called hypocrisy pure and simple. and actually ted danson in black face was considered perfectly acceptable when it happened.

  • The Ted Danson thing was absolutely not considered acceptable...if you are talking about the celebrity roast of Whoopi Goldberg. It made headlines because of the controversy. If you are talking about some other incident I don't know what you are talking about.

Your statement about black people and the n-word are ridiculous. You act as if all us black people think and feel the same way on issues and all agree. And of course blacks get made when white people call us that word. It is an insult.

  • have you even seen the episode of which i speak regarding ten danson. whoopi was laughing it up and yukking it up. she even has the nerve to use the word nigger on the television the view. whoopi is offensive and is a typical hateful, vengeful, and vitriolic female liberal, socialist, communist nigger that is offensive to many people. furthermore, she is a hypocrit for criticizing and setting a bad example just like the rappers spewing out their crap using the word nigger.

  • You obviously just like using the n-word and calling black people that. You are just trying to be offensive and have no point to your "argument". What Whoopi did has nothing to do with the original point...the old cartoons with the racist symbolism. Your hatred of Whoopi and rap add nothing to what you are supposedly trying to say.

  • a word in its own has no value. if a white man likes rap, and uses the word nigger(or nigga, rather) reffering to a black person, as a friend, or as a black man would to another black man(and i am not saying all blacks do that), regardless of his intent, the white man is still considered racist, and the black man will feel insultedl and that, sir, is hypocrisy. a thought measures more than the words expressing it.

  • if blacks can use the word nigger when referring to each other and white people cannot use the word nigger because it is regarded as being racist, there is no difference between the two. otherwise it sounds like hypocrisy or the high point of arrogance, hubris and a superiority complex that delves into deep psychological inferiority feelings which borders on the schizophrenic. if one group cannot use the word nigger then nobody should use it to be consistent. otherwise whoopi is a racist nigger

  • What people "should" do and what they will do are two different things. For example, the racist cartoons should not have been made but they were.

Like I said before you seem to think all black people think alike. There is no "group consensus" for the use of the n-word. And there never will be.

  • the fact is that these cartoons were made and censoring or banning them is NOT the answer because it is the tyranny of political correctness. should we ban the word 'mailbox' because it offends the female gender? we are not asking for group consensus just consistency because if whoopi and others denounce the use of the word nigger or any other word then they should themselves refrain from using it! otherwise it is hypocrisy and they lose all credibility!

  • Classic <3

  • I love this, to bad you rarely seem them now-a-days.

  • I remember seeing this cartoon when I was like... I don't know, maybe 5 years old.

The black-face ending didn't register with me at all back then, but now, wow, that's crazy. Haha, humor from another time, eh.

  • Could this be an early Elmer Fudd?

  • The other "fat Elmer" sightings were as follows:

*The Wabbit Who Came to Supper (1942)

    *The Wacky Wabbit (1942)

  • Thank's ClassicTVFan82

  • My guess is yes. Can you imagine that this was made in 1942, (if the date is accurate)? Help! I can't help talking like Elmer Fudd! :O]

  • these cartoons are lousy and wierd sometimes i think it's funny but then they still need funnier cartoon.

  • Yet another great cartoon with a very peculiar ending!

It's cartoons like these that prove Looney Tunes isn't just for kids! (Of course, that wasn't even the intention of the original animators and directors).

  • "Yet another great cartoon with a very peculiar ending!"

Which was never shown during the '70s on WNEW when I was a kid. It would end abruptly right before the minstrel number. In fact, this is the very first time that I have seen in it its entirety.

I have to say that full ending really surprised me, after seeing the edited version countless times in the past.
