hi dr been watching you vids for some time love em all was wondering if you have an answer for me ive been trying to find out the capacity of a lennox M# hs22-411-3p i cant find any info online if you can help id appreciate it thanks
I work for a retirement village. One time I was able to get away with mismatching the A-coil and condensor by adjusting the size of the oriface. I can see your points though on systems with a TXV, or capillary. Anyway, thought I would trow that out there...lol. I love your videos by the way ;)
I use that freon detector. (office supplied it) I've tried a few others but I like the 2 settings and no dial to tweak or fiddle with. Have only had to replace the tip one time I think and not sure how long it was in service before I got it, hehe. M@
Every customer that bought the Mighty Pump that had a questionable problem with the hoses were sent out new replacement hoses at no charge. We have always done business like this. Quality of a product should always be a priority.
Hey Doc. You are right about Payne systems. I installed a 5 ton Payne split system in my home which had a compressor rated at 4.5 tons. It is common practice in this part of the country to install an air handler rated a half ton larger than the condensing unit. On my 5 ton system Payne simply went down half a ton on the compressor.
@DrZarkloff Edcontact which proves my previous comment offensive and unecessary. I do sometimes speak without thought, but I don't make a habit of it.
I work in Aspen and I always "miss match" my equipment. I always use a smaller condensing coil because our temperature rarely breaks 80o f with15% humidity. If I match up the equipment then I also have to install a low ambient kit. The key thing is to size the TXV to the CC.
I'm not an HVAC guy - just a homeowner. I purchased a mighty pump based on your videos and have been very happy. I, too, did receive the extra hoses like you. Thanks for the recommendation.
Worked for a company years ago , where common practice was to bump up evap coil 1/2 ton, to the condenser .. . ( 2 ton Condenser=2.5 ton evap coil , never the reverse) .We always try to go with same Ton drive on the inside blower unit as outside unit ...
Glad to see you posting again !!! Dr. Z that Super Tech, interactive DVD you turned me onto actually lets me do Superheat and Subcooling, with a print out I can give customers !!!
Thats some good product support!, normally it takes a lot of complaints and having to request replacement parts!
My first workshop split system was a mis-match mini split and we got it to work pretty good, but the amount of refrigerant had to be increased to allow compressor subcooling. it was a 6.1Kw Mitsubishi condenser on a 8.8Kw Fujitsu evaporator, and it worked fine with the correct charge, but without adding gas, the comp would loose sub cooling and overheat.
My car a/c barely cools, even when I added a can of 134a, it cools the exact same as before. What could be wrong? Condenser fans run, compressor clutch engages.
@Metalcastr I'd check the comp discharge pressure after getting the system recovered and charged with the recommended amount of gas (its probably overcharged now) and clean the coils on evaporator and condenser!, car coils get plugged up bad!
if comp head pressure is low its prolly worn out, if not you may have a plugged/faulty TXV

what about if the the unit is freezing up and the fan is running and its not a freon issue, what else can cause a system to freeze up
bobodiddle 1 year ago
@bobodiddle A dirty air filter can be the problem. You could have a clogged restrictor, be it a TXV, capillary or piston.

@astranine It's funny how it confuses so many techs that aren't familiar with the product.

You are advertising their product for them. The company is showing their appreciation with the extra hoses.

@grawey77 - I got extra hoses as well as I purchased from them within the last few months. It wasn't just for advertising purposes.

@Aussie50 Was this on a mini split ductless system? I didn't even know that you could use mis-match the manufacturer parts.

best to take it to a Auto AC expert.
