George HW Bush was one of Richard M Nixon's proteges; i.e., Nixon was GHW Bush's mentor.

Nixon and Bush were both 'spooks' during the Kennedy Administration. Both claimed they can't remember where they were the day Kennedy was shot, but both were spotted in Dallas on 22 Nov, 1963 and were photographed. Bush, standing in the doorway of the Texas Book Depository Building minutes before JFK was shot, and Nixon,spotted by a cabbie, as one of his fares that day.

...The photographs of Bush and Nixon and their henchmen in Dallas on 22 Nov 63 fell into the hands of the Democrats, who Nixon thought would use them during their Convention to raise suspicion that he and Bush were involved in the assassination. On the White House tapes, it is suggested that Nixon's repeated mentioning of "that Bay of Pigs thing" refers not to Operation ZAPATA, the CIA/Bush's scheme to invade Cuba, but was 'code' for the plot to kill Pres. Kennedy.
