Where does Gene live now? Some of his songs indicate he's from Texas, but just kinda lost track of him, but always loved his voice and choice of songs, especially Love in the Hot Afternoon! Wow what a song!
I attended Gene`s concert at the Riverside Club in Mission Texas back in March of this year, this man is the best I have ever had the opportunity to witness.
He always takes the time to tell his fans how grateful he is & sits & signs autographs & lets his fans take all the pictures they want. He is an extrsordinary entertainer!
Saw him Thu.night 9/30/10 at fair in Paris Tx. HE STILL KICKS ASS!!! His band did too. What a voice...none better!! He is staying plenty busy these days too. GOD bless him.
Don LeMaire, the fiddle player was sitting in on this recording session for a friend. Great fiddle kick off of the song. LeMaire was known for the old Ray Price style of fiddle playing. Where is he now?

As Haggard and I listened to Lefty, Hank, and ET in Oildale Ca.( the 50's) on the radio, I think back at how good they were. Gene Watson would have fit right in.

I miss the time when CMT had a country music segment showcasing the "signature" songs of various artists. That was around 14 years ago at least. It makes me wonder if CMT's selling out to some other outfit has caused a lot of the good music to go to the end of the line.

Back in the eighties when I got back into country me and this friend would go to this two-stepping bar in Phx called Charlie's. Invariably we'd be dancing to some AWESOME song that we'd never heard before and be like "Wait, who is this?" Eventually we learned it was most likely Gene Watson. One of the best.
this Gene song makes me both happy and sad, used to be one of my mom's FAV Gene songs, her and I used to blare the car radio, sing it to the top of our lungs on our way to her hospital appts. at Dover AFB years ago; we used to go see Gene with our whole family/friends for many many summers at Sunset Park in West Grove, PA, and that brings back "VERY sweet" memories for me... Great singing, music, fans, hanging out with Gene and the band, lol. Mom died sadly, and I think of her when I hear this.
This man has one of the most unique voices ever! It's a damn shame, they just let him slip through the loops! He's one of the best of all time ever! cks ps.. ty for sharing a great song of his.. he's special to me.
