I am sorry but the ELECTORATE of this country are fully to blame for all of this, because in the last 30 years there has been no proper representation of this country, its jobs or its workforce by the numb nuts and numb wits YOU elect.
Don't blame others for trying to protect their jobs, or their pensions, when the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the sleazy, corrupt goofballs which the electorate put into office at their whim!
@rmckim Time this country realised, that whether we are under Socialism or Conservatism, that both arms and legs will be screwed out from under us, because both parties along with the third, will either follow America at whim, or dance to the tune of the European Parliament.
Parliament does not represent our country any more, not Conservative or Labour, they have not done so for the last thirty years and if you can't see that by now, then we really do deserve all we get...
what rubbish is this? It is perfectly fair that people should get what they pay for in terms of pensions, the talks are still open and the system is what everyone else has. Why should teachers, who are supposed to have done their job because they want to help, strike over their pensions being made normal. The notion that they are entitled to such a generous (and unsustainable) system to the extent they are willing to hold the public to ransom is outrageous. Striking should be made illegal.
Maybe if people like yourself had elected sensible polticians into office, instead of idiots this would not have not been necessary. However, Instead being angry with those who wish to keep their their pensions. Perhaps we should be angry at why they can't.
How much does for instance has it cost to maintain a war in the Middle East, first Kuwait, then Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya. Then we bail out the banks, then we bail out Greece and Ireland. Then there is the cost of the EU itself!
@Sliepnir2006 We should stop thinking about the rights to keep pensions, they have that right! How many jobs have been lost to this country to other areas in Europe while our politicians have fiddled? How much extra charged in fuel because OUR politicians prefer to prance like ballerinas on the world stage rather than work out the problems at home.
And just how much of our money has been poured into the banks while those who work in them have been paid millions in perks?
Yes, we waste money which we shouldn't do. So what? Does that mean we should waste more? Why are teachers entitled to more generous pensions than the rest of society and why to the extent that they should cause significant amounts of social and economic damage in order to achieve this?
@somepersonoverhere Fair enough comment, if we were to apply that to every area of Government expenditure, but let's face it teachers pensions are a tiny fragment of what has become an economical disaster of epic proportions. Even if teachers were to give up everything they had it would not touch the debt our economy has.
Thirty years of neglect and bad Government is responsible and we now no longer have the manufacturing industries or small private companies to uphold the public sector.
@somepersonoverhere Even if I were to agree that the pensions of teachers are disproportional, it is still only a drop in the ocean compared to other areas of Government expenditure. This problem has been brewing for years and been covered over with various lame excuses by successive Governments.
The lamest excuse being that people are living longer, tosh. The reasons why we cannot now afford pensions, is because of continuing and massive wastage, until this is corrected, it will get worse.
@somepersonoverhere I could never support that striking be made illegal, that would begin the swing back in the other direction and give politicians and the unscrupulous even more right to walk all over us.
But if we had a listening Government instead of ignorance, ineptitude and sheer uncompromising arrogance from our politicians and I am not just talking about teachers here, there would be no need for strike action, because these numb nuts would be working for the people and our country.
These people need to get in the real world. The pension plans are fairer and everyone in the private sector has been forced to accept pension reform and the public sector should not be immune.
Anyone striking today should be fired as it is insulting to those fighting for employment to see people striking. Don't like the pension plans, teachers? Quit. It's very simple.
i dont understand how it is possible to logically calculate what is the correct rate of pay or pension to give public sector workers, there is a balance between what price the employer can afford to pay and what the employee demands, but when you are employed by the government this mechanism is not there because the employer is able to go into crazy amounts of debt which no private sector employer could, and so the pay can easily get over-inflated, that is how i see it
The public do not want your stupid strikes. You people are evil scum out to wreck Britain! The English Defence League is the fastest growing political movement this country has ever seen and with stop you stupid morons from wrecking Britain!

anyone who doesn't support the strike is a scab simple as that. People read the bullshit in the tabloids and lap up the divide and rule shit - stuck in a crap job they want to see everyone brought down to their level instead of sticking together and trying to improve things for everyone
@ihatetories The lazy strikers should be sacked. Don't like pension reform? Then quit. There are plenty of hard working private sector workers looking for employment and they can take the place of the ignorant striking public sector workers. No one is immune from pension reform.
@Dendiol Divide and rule, where do i start! believe all the tabloid shit and lets go for the race to the bottom so that everyone is below a living wage. Start fighting for better rights for YOURSEF and you may be less bitter towards those with the guis to fight!
@ihatetories I don't listen to the tabloids, I use my own brain. This is nothing to do with divide and rule, but the fact that the large majority of the general public do not support the public sector strikes. Everyone in the private sector has faced pension reductions and seen their working hours increased at some point. But did they strike? No, they kept on working hard. The public sector should not be allowed to drag our economy down through sheer greed and laziness.
@Dendiol some people are just so gullible and have such lack of self pride it is pointless debating. If you were forced to clean the bog floor with your tongue i am sure you would just do it then moan that people in other jobs AREN'T cleaning the bog with their tongue. Stop thinking you have any stake in the economy ! The millionaire tax dodgers are laughing at the likes of you, squabbling amongst other people in your class
@Dendiol "Everyone in the private sector has faced pension reductions and seen their working hours increased at some point. But did they strike? No, they kept on working hard." There speaks the voice of the brainwashed slave.

@kerouac50 um, sorry for jumbling up the responses. Yes Kleine is considered 'left wing' but her book is worth reading, and then trying to come up with responses to her arguments, rather than just dismissing it out of hand. Ideological blinkers make ignorant fools out of the best of us!
What about a global economic system that is actually based upon supporting all us human beings, instead of just the movement of money: /watch?v=4mkRFCtl2MI
The video opens by saying we've had to pay the banks £1.3 trillion and obviously we're in much more overall debt than this, but it goes on to say that we shouldn't be making cuts and should support an alternative. I didn't see any explanation as to what this alternative is though (because there isn't one).
Seriosly anyone who believes the crap UKuncut come out must have the IQ of a high-end vacuum cleaner.
Oh and UKuncut, please don't taint Arcade Fire with your retarded views.
@kerouac50 LOL first of all, congrats on a very angry comment. It is well known that UK Uncut campaigns for proper corporate tax and the closing down of loopholes among a series of other things well explained on their website. This video is to promote the strike. As for your insults, thanks for revealing what a hate filled person you are. :) Feel better soon! Xx
@LaSofia What can I say, stupid people make me angry. The fact is that they can moan about bankers and rich people having to pay for their mistakes all they want, it won't work. You could tax them all 100% and it would make no difference because their simply isn't enough of them. I don't know about you but I'd rather listen to the views of the IMF and all the other organisations that support cuts, they are slightly more qualified than the people who made this video.
@kerouac50 you'd rather listen to the people who didn't see the big financial crash happening? You really should read Globalization and Its Discontents by Joseph E. Stiglitz, former chief economist and senior vice president at the World Bank, and Shock Doctorine by Naomi Klein.
@ohmyliver01 I've heard of the first one but I thought it was largely criticised because of his political bias. I hadn't heard of the second but from what I can gather it's largely left-wing propaganda.
Anyway the problem we face, as this video implies, isn't simply the banking crisis. It is the shocking state our country's finances are in after Labour's last 13 years in power (and whether people support the Tories or not, thay can't possibly argue about this). IMF or Ed Balls? Hmmmm
@kerouac50 if he was really criticised for being 'left wing' it's a really bad case of shooting the messenger. He's a former head of the World Bank. That organisation noted for its left wing radicalism.... erm... or actually it's one of the institutions of international capitalism.
The problem we face is the result of 30 years of neo-liberalism 'trickle down' economics (which in fairness should be called pour up economics, as it rapidly enriches the top 1% at the cost of the other 99%)
@domnal No if they were sacking doctors and nurses that would mean fewer (yes you guessed it!) doctors and nurses. They're sacking all the people with totally pointless admin jobs which simply wastes money.
@kerouac50 Just the same don't have an accident in traffic because then you will find out how well off you really are . Particularly as you seem to think they are only sacking the pointless admin staff - you know the ones who make sure the doctors get the correct records etc. Good luck and BOYM.
@domnal Obviously admin staff fulfill a vital role in doing, well, admin. But in many cases the NHS, like many other public services, employs several people to do a role that could be done by one person. I know it's hard for the people who will be losing their jobs, but these are jobs that shouldn't have existed anyway. It is the job of the private sector to provide jobs for these excess public sector workers who will lose their jobs.
This isn't true. 20% of the London Ambulance Service is being cut including frontline workers. Departments within the NHS including speech and language therapy and mental health services are being hit. The cuts go beyond just staffing - budgets are as important. How are social care services supposed to be paid for without one? Older people, disabled people and people with MH needs all over the country will be affected. Just ask anyone who works in or receives social care services.
And the claim that public sector pensions is unsustainable is a myth. It's already peaked in costs. Its at 2% GDP now, it's set to drop eve to 1.4% over the next 40-50 years. The real demographic timebomb is in the private sector - you got millions on rubbish pension schemes or opting out who as they retire will be less well off, eligible for means-tested benefits and in poorer health and more likely to need of [means tested] social care services paid for by the taxpayer.
Great video,all together,love it...
