redefining the old 911 has gone on for too long... it was fantastic the first few time.. but now its just getting irritating... i'm pretty sure after a couple of years even the design engineers wont be able to recognize which 911 is from which year as there's been so many already to keep track... locate some money to pay some actual designers and design sth new.....

I dont like it. It looks now more like aston martins maseratis and it has lost specific porsche personality. And it hasnt eroticy that was typical for 911. It is more sterile now. Designer is asuring us that it is still 911 but I thing there was just essence of it left.

It's amazing, the average car guy looks at it and goes: love it or hate it. But the designers have too to take into account every curve, every indent, every single line of the car and make sure it all works together. This is a beautiful car. It takes the 911 and makes it one more notch better. As it has for the last 48 years.

Please Porsche, keep this shape / chassis for the next 15 to 20 years. You are not like other manufacturers that need to upgrade / change the design every 4 or 5 years. You have reached the perfect shape with the first 911. The performance is incredible even with the basic 911. Keep it for longer. You can afford to do it.

To create an object which is instantly recognisable in relation to it's heritage yet to remain state of the art and modern in it's appearance is nothing short of design genius.

Porsche's design ethic is too subtle for some people but for me it's as pure as design evolution gets. It's just beautiful and always remains true to the brand.

(I notice Michael's IWC Big Pilot, so the man obviously has great design taste!)

Why are you surprised? This is typical for Porsche; the 911 has a rich heritage and cult-like following. The shape of the 911 is instantly recognizable and a demonstration of timeless design. I quite like the idea of taking a fantastic car and refining it to perfection.

Not all of the design updates are bad, but 997 (especially gen I) looks MUCH cleaner. The taillights look good on their own, but look awkward when coupled with the round shape of the 911; they don't flow at all. That being said, it's still the latest, and most technologically advanced, version of one of the greatest road-going cars ever.
