Too bad you don't meet yourself LOL I'd tell "myself" hey don't move to where I live you're gonna waste at least 20 years there for nothing!!! I'm with Zaphod though: let's meet the meat ROFL!
Well, okay, maybe most of you like the TV's casting better, but when I see the characters here, it's just too different than how I imagined them when I read the book. The movie wasn't exactly spot on either, but it was closer.
Actually, most of the TV cast was the same as the original Radio show. (Except for Ford and Trillian, that is.) And who wouldn't prefer this Zaphod over the movie's disaster?
@Polaris912b I agree - the Ford and Zaphod here are much better cast than the Movie by far. I did like Zooey better as Trillian over Sandra Dickenson here, but the original one on radio was the best.
I liked both Arthur's quite well and both Marvin's were well voiced (though the Movie version of him didn't make as much sense as the one here.)
@Polaris912b i thought the movie was well done, considering alll the challenges they faced. zaphod was a good interpretation but because of all the history surrounding the stories it was always going to be a thankless task, with people already being set in their ideas about the characters. i wish adams had bitten the bullett and made the film in the 90s. the director who would have done it went on instead to make MenInBlack.
I really don't like how the show brought the book to life, yet then again it would have been at least decent for the days it was aired.
Those the story itself was genius on Douglas's part and I can't wait to see it being made into a movie with at least the same standard of effects and actors as the Hitchhikers guide
Hey Ford Prefect is my husband! This one, to be specific. The book one is not bad ether:). I call dibs on him! I told all my friends already so hah. My husband. Mine.
how about not. this was the original cast and best. Simon Jones was actually Douglas Adam's first in mind choice for Arthur. And Ford.. well he's just plain hansome.
(sorry) I didn't realize they changed it for the TV series. Huh. That's weird. Anyways- Sorry about that. I just knew that was how it went in the book, well- Thanks for the video. Lovely!
I agree with the other darth about the star Wars. If you're gonna insult American sci-fi classics, go after Star Trek. Or at least only insult the prequels, 'cause those really did suck.
Besides, Adams lived in America as well. Just in case you forgot.
I love the original H2G2! You gotta love the fact that Peter Davison (AKA Doctor Who #5) plays the cow. He is married to the actress who plays Trillian.
Jeff Albertson,[1] better known as Comic Book Guy, is a recurring character in the animated television series The Simpsons. He is voiced by Hank Azaria, and first appeared in the episode "Three Men and a Comic Book". He is the proprietor of a comic book store, The Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop. Comic Book Guy is based on "every comic-bookstore guy in America"[2] and represents a stereotypical middle-aged comic-book collector.
The new movie is SHIT. And is not Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy
I'm not racist, but why the fuck was Ford Prefect black.
And why the hell was Marvin stupid looking and not depressed.
And why did they cut out nearly every single good part of the movie
At least the Vogon's were almost right.....

no joke, legend has it that Fifth Doctor Who Peter Davison plays the Dish of the Day.
chargermaniac 1 year ago
@chargermaniac it's no legend, the cow of the day was indeed Davidson during one of his many stints on All Creatures Great and Small...ironic
Migglyman 1 year ago
@Migglyman the Dish of the Day sounds nothing like him though. He must have lip synced and someone else dubbed in the voice.

@er10b It's Davison's voice too.

Arthur and Zaphod are AWESOME. Ford's very nice too, though I prefer the radio version. This Trillian... not so much.

It's funny how Arthur smiles when the waiter calls him a monkey.

Yeah, this is more faithful to the book, though the movie did a better job with casting.

I liked that the original TV show followed the radio series closely, but they did an awful job of casting, I think.
Still, I'd rather watch this than Family Guy any time.

BritishAlienCompany 3 years ago
Not being rude, but it's not Magrithia they're on when they warp through time, it's a small rather crude planet called Frogstar B.
After a man called Zarniwoop and a bodiless mind help Zaphod escape the eternal perspective vortex and the galactic police.
Great book! :) Wish it were a movie. :(

I have found the ultimate purpose of my life;
Use biogenetics to create an animal that wants to be killed, but preferably when its meat and organs are of the best quality.
THEN, I shall present this meat to an animal-loving-vegetarian. After that, all other achievements are insignificant.
