Did I hear Weissenberg briefly going into the interlocking octave-chords at 5:18 that rightly belong at 5:23, or was that just an audio error? Oh, I see crazyunicorn caught that to. Karajan appeared to glance at Weissenberg, eyes closed, at that point. Interesting goof for one who has played this hundreds of times.
Mr Weissenberg is a true Master at the clavier! No matter what kind of music people listen to, or choose to play, the true essence of music is what a human feel when listening to it. I can't help a stream of tears, true beauty! It is as if everything in life makes sense somehow. In the future, when all world ends in a havoc of fire, cosmic radiation or whatever, the few seconds before the End of the World, I sometimes imagine hearing this music, or Chopin's Winter etude.
this never fails to make me cry. so beautiful

Why is it that von Karajan never makes eye contact with his Orchestra?
