  • A lot of the jokes and the references are timely and were the subjects of 80s and 90s. However, it is hard to ignore the similarities. I like Denis Leary but after seeing the footage side by side, he obviously got his "inspiration" from Bill Hicks. I think a big difference here is production value and promotion, as well. Everyone knows mass appeal doesn't always mean a better performer.

  • Can Leary be sued?

  • @MrMrfamilyguy01 he should be, but he stole hicks idea's and legally you cant patent an idea, i agree leary is a talentless thieving cunt

  • Thanks for putting this together. It's clear. But something else. The comparison shows how critical delivery can be. Leary is caricature, not a person. He's cartoonish and annoying compared to Hicks, even if he did not steal from Hicks. But he clearly did. Shameful.

  • Denis Leary is like Spongebob Squarepants without the charm or good intentions. He is able to sponge ideas, however, and likewise also gets overworked by crabs.

  • Denis Leary is a joke stealing, unfunny, talentless cunt.

    Hicks is a legend.

    Case closed!

  • Q: Why is Denis Leary more famous than Bill Hicks?

A: Because there's no cure for cancer.

  • @phsyan absolutely genius reply that I don't think many understood.

  • hicks+kinnison-actual talent=leary

  • after seeing this Denis Leary did rip off hicks, thanks

  • i seriously cant believe he even stole the ending to bills act, when bill feigns death. i mean WTF???!

  • This isn't really stealing, this is more like comparing the comedian and the "comedian" and seeing who tells the joke better. Plus Bill Hicks does some studying and relies on whit to enhance the joke rather than being outright obnoxious

  • is the volume low on all 3 of these or is it my shitty computer i can barely here my boy hicks and leary is slightly louder other you tube stuff sounds fine and i really want to here this because i have never heard of this conspiracy between these 2 can someone tell me if its just my computer please? i'm holding my laptop to my ear and have the volume cranked and hicks and leary both are not soft spoken wtf?

  • @longlivestaley If you try another video and its louder, than its probably the video, dummy...

  • It was manly the same topics really not denis ripping bill off

  • Leary is a much WORSE performer. He just shouts and spits jibberish. He's like Dane Cook. Just talks a lot and doesn't really say funny things.

  • Comedians influence each other. When it comes down to it, it all depends on who´s style you like better. Personally, I think Dennis Leary delivers a better version of the same topics. I think his timing and intensity is taking it to another level. That is my opinion, and I don´t mean to piss off any Bill Hicks fans here. If you like Bill Hicks better, I have no problem with that.

  • @oyra123 yea but bill hicks did it first. dennis is obviously ripping off bill hicks acts. think about it.

  • @SWED19420 BS asshole

  • @0p9abc haha hater

  • @0p9abc It's almost as though Denis Leary was such a Bill Hicks fan, he became a poser and started doing comedy. I mean really! Of course he's not completely ripping Bill Hicks off, but he must have seen Bill Hicks! I'm sorry, but you would not just hit on ALMOST ALL THE SAME TOPICS as someone else AND the same NAMES, POINTS, and WORDS!

  • @oyra123 it was well documented, bill and leary were friends until leary ripped off his promises and jokes, as you see by the examples here. Bill started and did most of these jokes before leary was even in comedy. And no cure for cancer was cited as a complete rip off of bill hicks' reckless. The only reason leary didn't have a career past bill hicks' death was there was no cure for cancer. RIP BILL.

  • Would Denis Leary have been smart about it, he would have made No Cure For Cancer a tribute to Bill Hicks, because he took Hicks material - no question about it - and added his own persona to it. It's sad, though, that without the intelligence behind the attitude, Denis Leary isn't much to put on stage.

  • The assassination jokes are an odd comparison. Hicks' joke has a premise about how in real life the inverse of karma is actually at work. I don't find it funny personally (just my taste), but I do think it's a clever riff. Leary's joke is similar, but doesn't have the same premise. In fact, it doesn't have a coherent premise at all. It makes no sense if you try to parse it closely. That's unfortunate, because his contrast of the Kennedys is potentially funnier than the Reagan/zombie idea.

  • I don't know what to make of ending the show with a fake death. The Hicks version struck me as an allusion to the Alan Berg incident and a self-aggrandizing implied message that he's a prophetic truth teller. The Leary version was more about how with his smoking and drinking (and given that his persona was so much more high energy- which was the essential difference between their styles) the character he played was likely to stroke out at any second.

  • The Judas Priest joke was definitely stolen. "I missed that meeting" and "the boat left without me" aren't jokes. They're phrases in common usage and have been for decades.

  • I really don't think that just because they're similar acts means he "stole" anything. And how can u, the real assholes, accuse somebody of something when you don't even know them.

  • @juggaletteBaby94 I dont know Richard Nixon, but I do know he was a crook. Observation and common sense is all you need to read the available data on any given subject. In this case it would seem more likely that Leary stole Hicks' jokes.

  • he DID sing hes is an ashoooole....

  • Leary definitely stole the material from Hicks, but then again, he is an asshole......

  • assassinate leary....ASS HOOOOOOLEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis Leary's act "No Cure For Cancer" is all bill hicks most wonderful jokes in disguise of fast talking. The first time I watched No cure for cancer I recognized every joke. I love bill's quote saying that he [bill] stole his [dennis] act and then says "here's the real scoop. I did it a year before he did." just to prove that he's laughing at all the morons that like dennis leary and think the act belonged to dennis. bill is #1 and shall forever remain. Dennis even stole the song at the end.

  • @CameronJamesPhillips The first part of this video is so prophetic!

  • Wow, amazing documentation. Thanks for putting this up on youtube. Leary should be ashamed.

  • Leary seems worse after watching this and I wasn't big on him in the first place.

  • Dennis had hicks assassinated.

  • @MoonAtsu

Cos he thought the golden goose would deliver more eggs when dead than alive? I think Leary's bad acting career on basic cable is money enough to keep him and his alive... It's what he's earnt and as much as he deserves.

  • I see some similarities but I still love Denis and I don't think they are that much alike as persons on stage. So they similar pointers, so what. Denis is still funny alone.

  • @Lillah75

    alone on a desert island

  • @opethgarzaMD Probably ripping off Bill's line about eating his own flesh while he's there.

  • @mootle661

    LOL xD

  • The song would be more believable if it were "I'm a Douchebag".

  • shit denis is fail...thank you utube for waking me up...bill hicks is killer!!

  • I like his comment on Denis Leary at the end.

  • Denis Leary also stole the "I'm an asshole" bit from Louis C.K. --- He literally stole his entire career.

  • Let me get this right-Bill Hicks is the only one allowed to make a joke about subliminal messages on Judas Priest albums? That was a HUGE story-I'm sure there are another dozen comedians who made jokes about this, so they all stole from Bill Hicks, too?

  • @charcoal33

you have a point, but... that's only one of all the jokes exposed

also, the point of view of that, was kinda similar, don't you think? you can talk about the same shit, from a different angle, and it's different than the same angle with a twist to disguise it

  • Just the sight of dennis leary pisses me! Fuck that fucking piece of shit.

  • The most compelling argument for the Bill Hicks vs Dennis Leary is that we don't hear from Dennis anymore, and for obviously different reasons than Bill. I wonder if Dennis really had nothing more to offer after raking through the Hicks' performances. Hicks would never have stopped, especially today - I think he'd have had a thing or two to say about how things have evolved. Plus, he never saw the internet...

  • @Quixoticah 1) Leary has been doing movies and TV steadily since the mid 90's. 2) Leary did Lock 'n Load in '97, and recent douchebags and donuts. Lock 'n Load was fabulous, douchebags I've only watched once, thought it was pretty crappy, save for Ferrara. Also, Denis had been touring with a Rescue Me comedy tour for years, so yeah, he's still doing it. But acting has taken the bigger load than comedy.

  • Leary definitely stole one thing from Hicks: neither one of them is funny.

  • @jstohler lol. while there's no accounting for taste, the popular opinion - especially the educated opinion - clearly disagrees with you. You might find solace in an extended television session.

  • Wow. Wow. Someone here actually wrote, I assume, with conviction & sincerity, that "comedians are supposed to make people laugh, not think." Maybe they should forget about working so hard to craft jokes, and concentrate on learning how to tickle people & practice throwing footballs at men's groins. Guaranteed laughs there. On the bright side: somone else made the point that if these acts were submitted as college papers, the rearranger would get nailed for plagerism. Laugh, not think. Wow.

  • @Snowflakebleed011 You misinterpret my outlook of Denis Leary. Denis Leary totally ripped off Bill Hicks. A blessing in disguise. Leary saved Hicks by taking that worn out bit and making it useless. Leary does it for money. His soul, sold like a red cup at a frat party. Hicks, Immortalized. Or do what Stanhope and Chappelle do...for the love. And be legends. All greats so far have never sold their soul. Even Carlin went from legend to loser. Watch the interview with john stewart.

  • @bizz4ethix Thank you for your civility. That's a rare thing, or at least it seems that way.

I'm sure I missed something, was drunk or not drunk enough.

  • @Snowflakebleed011 Thank you for being you. I think it's safe to say that most of us are ever changed by the stand-up master, Bill Hicks. He has led me to experience Lenny Bruce, Buddy Hacket, and Woody Allen. Woody Allen started doing stand-up and he was fucking hilarious.

  • @bizz4ethix watched the interview with stewart...why is carlin a looser ?

  • @Your247Boss because, he becomes Grandpa. He starts preaching moderation in regards to doing drugs. His multi-decade career destroyed in 15 minutes of shame.

  • A Boston comic doing Kennedy material? No Way!!!

Now, another thing. The dates on the screen don't really mean that much. Even though Denis was a bit older, Hicks' career was established earlier, so there are more performances to sample from. Denis didn't do many televised specials.

So for what it's worth, I've heard that the heavy metal material that both use was actually written first by Leary.

  • Is it ironic that as @ALEXPLC said: Death took the wrong performer?

Both performers had bits regarding the death of the 'wrong performer' (such as, John Lennon).

    Be it stolen or not.

  • Literally just got into Hicks today... through Tool, don't shoot me... and he makes me think. It's great. I laugh and I think. Dennis Leary makes me squeamish and itchy. He looks like a dirty, slimy, schitzophrenic, angry little man-turd running around on stage like his toupe is on fire. Go fuck yourself, Leary, and RIP Bill Hicks.

  • i looked up what happened apparently bill hicks was friends with dennis leary but after dennis leary made no cure for cancer in 1992 with 80% stolen material bill was furious and they stopped being friends

  • I came into this on hicks side thinking the rumors were true. There is no stolen material in learys act. He used same subject matters.comics often use each others topics. There is more than one comedian to make a michael jackson touches little boys joke. I love Hicks but to say Leary "stole" punchlines? I have watched video after video and havnt seen a single stolen punchline. Leary takes the jokes in different directions and in most cases is better than hicks. Pay attention people

  • @RAMZIWAREHOUSE If you say so...

  • @RAMZIWAREHOUSE - Silliest comment ever. And to make it worse, you felt the need to post it multiple times.

  • @frokenstein Im sorry, I actually didnt mean to post many times. I was having a problem with my browser I guess. or it was you tube. either way, I examined many many vids that compared the 2 comics and I will say there is deffinatly borrowed parts but in every vid I saw; the puch lines were different. If you cant see that, some of us need to look up what a set up and a punchline is. peace

  • Comment removed

  • @RAMZIWAREHOUSE Yeah I can tell by your caps and multiple spam postings you are a Denis Leary fan. These comics are on two different levels. One is annoying one is graceful.

  • @Ziru322 one is enlightening, one is "like taking black spray paint to your third eye."

  • @mcmillianq Best reply ever!

  • you people are fucking TOOLS There is no stolen material in learys act. He may have used same subject matters(they were friends) commics often use each others topics. just like there is more than one commedian to make a michael jackson touches little boys joke. Leary takes the jokes in different directions and in most cases is better than hicks. Pay attention people

  • OMG...They said some words that were the same. AMAZING!

  • @13andincradiblycutt OMG...He stole several bits and even used the same exact references, exact same punchlines, and move for move copied several of Bills trademarks, undeniably, and here's the video... Discerning, aren't ya?

  • @Archetype77 Same punchlines? Which ones. "Are you in touch with your inner child? Yeah, I found a picture of him on a milk carton."..."There's a small child inside of you so now we have grape, cherry and orange flavor... not niquil."

Yeah, those are EXACTLY the same. Yeah, WOW. Fucking AMAZING.

Do you also think he stole "How are you all doing?" and "Goodnight!" from him as well?

  • @Archetype77 you people are TOOLS .. no stolen material in learys act. He may have used same subject matters(they were friends) commics often use each others topics. just like there is more than one commedian to make a michael jackson touches little boys joke. • Do people actually find leary funny?! Hicks is one of the best. X

  • @subject626 I thought No Cure for Cancer was funny, but I wondered why Leary sucked ever afterwards. Then I found out about Hicks. Leary hasn't been funny since No Cure because his source died and Leary's own shit just fucking sucks.

  • Well from Exhibit A - the Jury decides that Leary is not a Joke theif. Hick's fans are full of hate & bitterness at his early death, & you would have seen the completely DIFFERENT comedic styles HAD Hicks lived his fair share of life. However, Hicks didn't, and they are both social commentary comics, SO OFCOURSE their subject matter will be similar. just look at social comics today - ex Pres. Bush was (according to Robin Williams) a comedy pinata, don't recall any claims of joke stealing though

  • @arh003 Yes the styles and content are going to be similar as, like you said, they are both social commentary comics. However it becomes more of a rip off when you use word for word bits that another comedian has performed or written.

  • @adamwuk but that didn't happen in this set of video clips - & this has been the most 'just' towards Leary in that they showed larger portions of the act. You & I could use the same words, but it wouldn't be stealing for that, there are only so many words in our language - these clips show completely different delieries & uses of the same social commentary material - what you DO see is the same matterial, but again, both social comentary comics. So you'd expect that.

  • @arh003 just a side note, but can you tell me of a clip in here where WORD FOR WORD the material has been copied, because I didn't see it ... I did on one occassion see some paraphrasing, but it was rather different and used in a different context, so I'm not sure what in THIS set of clips you see as 'stealing', I'm a Hicks fan, but also a Leary fan, so I'm open to proof if it can be found. (TBC)

  • @arh003 I know Hicks was miffed at Leary for copyrighting the material, but had he lived, I think he'd have turned even THAT into a joke (Sorry for the long reply, I am open to debate on this, I just don't think these vids proved that Leary was a joke theif, quite the opposit actually - that he was able to take the same social commentary & make it his own HOWEVER I will bend to the fact that having watched 'no cure for cancer' there is a part in there that could be likened to a "hicks" delivery)

  • @arh003 These are lawyers loophole wet dreams. "the accused said And instead of Also, therefore, no plagarism."

  • @arh003 I doubt this is a worthwhile debate if you can't even see the word for word copies. End

  • @adamwuk I ask you to point me to ONE of the vid's in THIS set where WORD FOR WORD - not a few words - more than a sentence is repeated. "we live in a world were john lennon is killed and yet barry manallo continues to put out fucking records..." is NOT WORD FOR WORD to "We live in a world where john lennon gets 6 bullets in his chest and yoko ono sitting right next to him - not one bullet, explain that to me god ..." that to me is social commentary comedy, same subject, different spins.

  • @adamwuk I agree with arh.

If Leary is a comedic fraud, then just say George Carlin is a fraud - since he did the same bit on Judas Priest.

Difference is when you're a topical comic, poignant topics are going to be a subject for more than one of you. The spin is half the fun. What makes certain comics genuine is that they all seem to be on an even wavelength, and style separates it. We enjoy their sense of logic in a fucked up world.

Not worthwhile if you can't understand this.

  • @adamwuk you are a TOOL There is no stolen material in learys act. He may have used same subject matters(they were friends) commics often use each others topics. just like there is more than one commedian to make a michael jackson touches little boys joke. • Denis Leary talentless fuckwit, ripped off Bill Hicks act! Should be fuckin ashamed of himself.

  • neither of them didnt steal from each other they both had different jokes of the same subject!

  • @youkid1991 they're the same jokes man

  • @PokerJoey888 which one is the same? Different jokes, same topic. Its like how every black comedian ripped off richard prior

  • Denis Leary kicks arse!

  • Holy shit!! He stole Hicks entire fucking act!!!! I used to hear stories about this for years, but this is the first time I've seen side by side comparisons. WTF?!?!? Penis Leary, you fuggin suck!!!!

  • I'm a gas-station attendent, and I love Bill Hicks!

  • Why do we live in a world where Bill Hicks dies and Denis Leary lives?

  • wow, Leary really is an asshole

  • I love the crack on the chat show.Very sharp. :)

  • Hey Denis Leary is right, He is an ASSHOLE xD

  • 2:25 Who let Arsenio Hall in?

  • This is just PERSONAL OPINION, so don't troll me. Watching this three part series, it seems that Leary may have directly plagiarized from Hicks on a very small percentage of his stuff, and Leary otherwise _possibly_ used Hicks' material as "inspiration" and adapted it reasonably well enough for Leary to "make it his own". There is also the chance that in many bits, Leary and Hicks simply made the same observations, coincidentally. Either way, I find almost nothing entertaining about Leary.

  • @MrDorkusMaximus Saying they made the same observations is a cop-out. Comedy isn't as simple as making an observation and turning that into a successful joke. There is much more to comedy writing than most people give credit for, and that is shown in the idea that comedians simply made the same observation.

Think about it like this: Nothing these comedians write material on is anything your average person hasn't experienced or observed, yet how many could create and equally humorous act?

  • @MrDorkusMaximus Look and Joe Rogan, Doug Stanhope, George Carlin and Bill Hicks. All of them had a similar perspective, wrote on a lot of the same topics yet they all deliver an act that is discernibly different from the next. They also live out their persona, not just create one (or steal one) for better delivery. That's part of the genuine feel you get from these guys, and not Dennis Leary.

  • id like to see leary steal from dane cook that be about as original as islam...

  • @escapethecrash What an odd simile you used....Almost as odd as chicken tenders....

  • @CoolerKing37 just killing two birds with one stone lol denis leary and dane cook are both hacks telling recycled material and islam is really just recycled religion.

  • these videos have been a stretch compairing Denis leary to Bill Hicks, While Bill hicks is funny more than half of those jokes we mearly about the same material not the same jokes. Of the approx 15 jokes heard maybe 5 were definatly the same. I wouldnt say thats stolen. And if Denis was such a hack, we probably know more about bill hicks,

  • @Bbaldonado007 yeah, leary didn't make hicks a genius. where do you get that idea? i heard about hicks long before i knew leary ripped him off. that's like saying i heard about Louis C.K. because Dane Cook stole his jokes. It could be a stretch if there weren't those 5 jokes you claim. But, because he 100% stole those, it becomes clear Leary stole his smoking routine. it's not a question about individual jokes, but the whole routine

  • @Bbaldonado007 It wasn't just similar material. Aside from a handful of jokes he stole nearly word-for-word, just look at how much his entire act is derived from Hicks' act. He didn't just make a joke or two about smoking, he made it part of his entire persona, like Hicks. You can make a joke about a similar topic, but his jokes were ALL modeled from the same perspective and angle that Hicks wrote his jokes from.

  • @Bbaldonado007 As far as 'if Denis was such a hack, we probably know more about bill hicks' the fact that Dennis is much more widely known by his media whoring and acting career, Hicks will still outrank him on any credible all-time comedian list. Hicks is far and away a more respected comedian than Leary could ever dream of being.

  • hmm...

  • Leary should have copied that last seen, and used real bullets

  • I never realized how much of a hack Leary was. My best friend used to love him.

Oh, and Hicks died on my birthday. I was 20. 17 years later and I finally know who he is. Funny shit.

  • seriously if someone watched this then saw denis leary he would get deservedly beaten

  • "I'm going to the U.K."

"Denis Leary is big over there right?"

"Yeah, it's weird, their comedy scene is like where ours was 5 years ago."

XD, hicks ftw, such a legend.

  • I think I only saw about 5 or 6 jokes that I could honestly say went too far in stealing. Most of these examples are actually just attempting to draw a connection. Sure they both did jokes on smoking, but it doesn't make the joke a copy. However I agree about 5 or 6 jokes were too copied.

  • Leary you are a CUNT !

  • @Mavericks411991 What kind of hillbilly backward thinking fucktard are you? Could you not even see the difference in the dates FFS

  • @Mavericks411991 However i may have went too far with the insults, srry. BUT Leary is still a thieving dirty plagiarist

  • I've never found Denis Leary funny, at all,,, not once in my life.

  • Dennis Leary and Bill Hicks are not the same. Their comedy has completely different motivation. I never listened to Bill Hicks until recently. I did, however, listen to all of Denis Leary material and his audiobook. I just recently fell in love with Hicks, but not after Doug Stanhope. Why does everyone think Hicks' style and his jokes were original? What about this?

Has anyone listened to Sam Kinison? Bill Hicks completely ripped off Sam Kinison. But no one says anything about that?

  • @bizz4ethix How does their comedy differ in motivation?

We never said that his style was original. Well his PARTICULAR style is, but not the main style itself. Yes, many people know who Sam Kinison is. They used to be friends, and they both affected each other`s comedy. It is unknown who STOLE more from whom, but what is known is that THAT particular line is grey shaded due to their convergence and influence. No, there is no proof that Bill stole from Sam

  • Using Statistical Probabilty, I can accurately determine how most people view themselves. Using the common cause variation the comments share. I find 80% of viewers believe 20% of the viewers are stupid, cocksucking, retards, Obviously they are mistaken. The common cause is not found in the 20%. All of the 80% are exactly what they describe. And they support this about 730 times. PLEASE READ MY NEXT COMMENT TO SEE A TRULY CONTRARY OPINION.

  • Leary is a cocksucker. He obviously stole the jokes, and he's not funny at all. For shame.

  • Time to kick over the hornets nest. DENNIS LEARY RULEZZZZZZ BILL HICKS SUXXXXXXXX!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAH FEED ME!!!!!

  • Legends never die: RIP Bill Hicks

  • Death took the wrong performer

  • @ALEXPLC what gives you the right to make a call like that? your stupid ass comment needed to plucked out of the bunch. THINK before you type! damn cyclopedic disjointed internet troll !@#%^

  • @ALEXPLC I think only one of them actually counts as a "performer" the other one is just an exceptionally annoying chipmunk with a big fucking mouth.

    FUCK YOU DENIS LEARY.

  • @ALEXPLC I think Leary should steal that one too !

  • Yeah, I can take video clips where two different people say the same three or four words and make ridiculous claims about one person copying the other person, too. I'm sick of this bullshit. You're just jealous because Denis Leary is hilarious and rich, and you masturbate to your high school yearbook. Go fuck yourself.

  • un f*cking believable! f*ck denis leary! i was a fan but what the f*ck?! i'm blown away... denis leary, carlos mencia, and all the rest of u joke thieve hoes GO DROWN IN A POOL OF AIDS!!!

  • What a disgrace of a human you are Dennis Leary. He should be ashamed of himself. No matter how much money Leary made off this, it wouldn't be worth it to embarrass yourself that badly. Shame! Great vids btw krak, thanks.

  • Hicks is king!!!

  • Wow.... you know Leary's mannerisms are very Hick-like and the fact that he used Judas Priest in his example of rock bands and suicides have pretty much confirmed my suspicions: That he is in fact a hack and he did in fact lift Bill's material, now other comedians have in fact done this... just not on such a scale. Waaayyyyyyy too many similarities.

  • I sincerely want leary to get cancer he doesnt deserve to live

  • @Fr0gEyE It's like Leary said (after stealing it off Hicks) All the good guys get killed or die and we're left with the shit afterwards.

  • what Bill said at 5:00 when that guy say something about leary? I can't understand

  • @Attacco1919 I think he says something like "it's funny that he goes where I've been five years ago" which is so funny to them because of the "he steals my material" implication. But that is just a guess, I can't hear what he says clearly neither, sorry.

  • Leary = wanker

  • LOL Hicks loses it at his Leary joke. Thanks so much for these Krak.

  • BOTH ARE GREAT!!

  • what did bill said about leary at the end?? please, could someone write it down ?? thank u.

  • @nicoshattered bill said something about going to uk on tour, and dennis miller said "leary is big over there, isnt he?" and then bill said "its weird, their comedy seems like where ours was five years ago."

  • Why would Leary steal Hick's material so blantently? Didn't he think anyone would figure this out and expose him for the talentless annoying asshole that he is? I just don't see the logic.

  • @LondonIrishRover it's called money. Leary, the prick, wins :(

  • I can't really call any of this nonsense conclusive evidence that Leary straight up ganked Hicks' routines.

I can, however, call it conclusive evidence that Bill Hicks is funny and relevant, and Denis Leary is not.

  • It's amazing that there is PURE PROOF that Leary steals yet ppl STILL defend this scumbag....

  • @permexOQ

    Serious Cases of Denial.

They don't want to admit that they suck for ever having liked him, and not knowing what a faggot he really is.

  • I love how at the end of Leary's routine when he rips off Hicks' 'dying at the end of the show' gag, even Leary's own fans aren't sure what they should do. They just start clapping and cheering out of pity.

  • "tayjrich" Just responded to something I wrote a while ago by writing: "Dude fuck you, pretentious asshole. It's Bill Hicks not Franz Kafka." - I guess what "tayjrich" is trying to say is that I should just calm down and not have an opinion about Bill Hicks as it is not important. Or, at least, not as important as it would be if say, the topic was about Franz Kafka. - But how ironic that "tayjrich" is upset over what someone said RE: Bill Hicks. I think Bill would find that irony funny...

  • @corebare You are an idiot. My whole point was not that Bill Hicks is not important, but that his comedy is not nearly as deep and intelligent as your earlier post said. There is no doubt that Hicks is smart, but you make it sound like you are so much more intelligent than others just because you understand his stand-up. The comparison is that Bill Hicks is a comedian, not a deep thinker like Kafka, therefore the ability to understand him is nothing to brag about.

  • @tayjrich - Who's the "pretentious asshole?" The guy who defends a brilliant comic (don't get confused, I'm not comparing him to Kafka, I'm just saying he was a great comic) or the guy who has to put down someone for not defending someone like Kafka instead? A more noble cause I guess. - - Aren't you above arguing with someone on You tube?

  • @corebare Dude you weren't defending shit, you were putting somebody down for liking Denis Leary. I'm just saying that you're not as smart as you think you are.

  • @tayjrich - Opinions vary.

  • @tayjrich I agree, Hicks is almost hopelessly simplistic. Good vs. Evil, Right vs. Left, Smoker vs. Non-Smoker. He has hardly any nuance in his act or his philosophy, and I should add that he makes me laugh more than most other comics of the last 40 years.

  • Denis Leary clicked 22 times..

  • It's embarrasing really. If I was gonna be a hack comedian I'd at least be smart enough to steal from several people and put it together then it might be less obvious. He has so blatantly ripped off so much of his material, of course everyone is gonna call u on it

  • I never understood why Judas Priest is so liked. They're so goddamn mediocre. Iron Maiden I can see, those guys have a lot of talent, but Priest seemed like they were at the low end of the talent spectrum. Even Def Leppard is preferable.

  • This is the part where it Leary actually almost word for word steals from Hicks. Before that it was juts the same topic, now it's the same fucking thing. He truly is a hack.

  • Leary said it best; he's an asshole. Bill Hicks will never be forgotten, Denis Leary should be in the ground instead.

  • Damn all the way down to ending the show..

what a fuck that leary , he is like a rapper, making money off of other peoples talent

  • DENIS w/one N D E N I S Just like P E N I S And yes Denis Leary Is a total dick!!! BTW has Leary ever

Really spoke on this whole Bill Hicks Issue??

  • Ok, the part with both mentioning "did I miss a meating", doesn't really qualify here :)

But yeah, it's clear that he stole A LOT of his stuff. Never knew why I never watched Leary's series although lots of people prased those. Still don't know, but I'm glad I didn't.

  • I hate Leary`s guts, that untalented mediocre hack.

  • @BillHicks420 Why do you hate Leary? Because he is still alive? He obviously is not untalented. I don't put him in my top-ten. But he also has a film and tv career. What movies did hicks do? And, if Leary became so successful because he was hicks, why didn't hicks become so famous????????????
