To be fair, Playtime may not be the best movie to start with if you are introducing people to Tati. Although fantastic, it is a bit of a slow starter. Might be best to start with Les Vacances... - there are loads of little sketches in there to keep people entertained. With Playtime, you're kind of waiting for something to happen.
Good to see that the legend of Tati lives on and is being passed on from generation to generation, though!

I can't blame them. Hulot's Holiday & My Uncle were funny in their endearing little ways, but WHAT is supposed to be funny about this movie, pray? More of a tragedy and the ruin of a man who missed to bow out at the peak of his success and destroyed his entire principal in the process.

I love watching Hulot being completely fascinated with this guy. And the sounds are brilliant - my favourite is the zip as he closes the briefcase.

I own the australian DVD of this film which has the same trasfer as the first OOP criterion DVD. In one scene - I forget which one it is - there is a sudden pause and then a cut to a new scene. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this specific cut, among others on my version of the DVD because I have the international version or is my DVD just faulty?

I love this moment. And the film is quite an eyeful, to be watched several times to get it all in.
