I was thinkin that was a lil over kill when I first saw the set up.. After seeing it into play I think its pretty cool!! Our hands can cover many a drum.. why not are feet??
neil, garthly that is. you have surpassed neil, peart that is on my list as on of the most talented drummers i have seen! keep up the good work. is that drum kit a premier artist birch or maple? it sounds amazing. how do you get that set up to work every time? looks like a lot of stands and pedals to carry around! cheers!
@soundmind529 Thank you for the kind words. Alot of practice to get to this level. It is a Premier Artist Birch. I have everything marked to easy tear down and set up. But it still take an hour for both. The kit doesn't move much. Check out some of my performances from the Cape Breton Drum Fest. That kit was a Mapex and had some extras on it. Thanks again and enjoy!
@DrumologyTV yeah, im simple drummer. i dont like having more than four stands to carry around to gigs. im not as talented as you are with the multiple limb independence so my kit is pretty basic. youre right up there with marco minnemann. any advice? should i just learn rudiments with all of the limbs and apply it to the kit? thanks.
When I saw your video where where you explain everything about your pedals I taught that you are one of a 100000 copies of Thomas lang, but when I saw this video I find out I was totally wrong! You got ambidexterity, groove, technique ,polyrithmic knowledge, and everything sound like you are octopus! Not my kind of drumming but are best of "your kind" I ever saw"
@NikeDrums Thank you very much for your comment. I have always tried to make music with my drum set. My advanced set up allows me to do just that. Check out some of my other videos from the Cape Breton Drum Festival. I play "Ticket to Ride" from the Beatles along with some solos. Enjoy!
"he doesn't look cool doing it"? Maybe you can make us all a video on how to look cool playing the drums gylfi88 apparently thats real important, you could include a clip on how to apply eye liner.
wow this guys good, and his style is diffrent. but does he really need all those pedals, think about it, some of them can go to the people who reall nead one. im just saying
Yes, but with some slight changes. I use a ride cymbal all the way to the left. Look at some of my videos from The Cape Breton Drum Fest. You can see my set-up from one of the camera angles.

Amazing. Absolutly breath taking! The first 1 minute got a little repetative, but its stil amazing foot work! It around 2:15 it sounds like your playing all of a drumline music at once. Amazing amazing!
-What is holding the marching snare up so the pedal strikes the center?
-What is holding the closed hi-hats that are played with the foot?
I enjoyed watching =D. Thanks for the post. I was on a drum forum and somebody mentioned this guy because another person was asking how to stabilize their pedals. Turns out it lead me to a great video.
Thanks. I am glad you enjoyed it. 1) The marching drum is held by a regular snare stand. I spread the legs all the way out, turned the basket 90 degrees, and really tighten the tension on the basket to hold the drum. 2) It is an X-Hat holding the high hats closed. I then turn it 90 degrees and use a hard plastic beater to get the attack. All of the pedals are velcroed down so they won't move. Check out the new videos that are on the way!
The pedals are not attached to the snare drum in any way. The key is to have a pedal with a solid foot plate like the Pearl Eliminator and stick velcro (the hook side) on the bottom of the foot plate. Make sure you use a carpet that can grip velcro, like burber or industrial carpet. A pile or shag carpet won't work. It's that easy.
disgusting playing man. when you leave the pedal boards constantly they have a tendency to bounce. How do you control your pedals, from bouncing all over the place so that when you go to slam on one its not bouncing down/ and you can get a strong stroke (opposed to a dead one). does a particular tension help with this or tempo/bpm. great playing.
Thanks! I found that using a strap drive instead of chain drive helps keep the pedals in sync with the movement of the beaters without the extra sound of the pedals flopping around. Spring tension is medium and the tempo help assure that I get a clean stroke. In the beginning I was getting dead strokes, but with alot of practice and some tweeking of the pedals, I was able to perfect it. Thanks for watching!

and another question (i hope all those questions of all those people incuding me ain't annoying), how do you attach the pedals to the snare/hi-hat
and keep them from wobbling around because if I just put a pedal to the floor, it starts "walking" around.
sikory 4 years ago
The pedals are not attached to the snare drum in any way.
