i just cut a few samples from this and made a hip hop instrumental to it, check it out on my page and i got alot of other beats from various tv theme songs, classic horror movie theme song and so on...
I've seen many versions of this song on Youtube. But even despite the somewhat low-quality of the recording, Calbee's version manages to trump every single one.
Holy man, that solo part in the right hand was just amazing. I've heard this before and played before but you are the only one I've seen that pulls it off so perfectly.
hey but on the OST of Final Fantasy 6, u cant see "mystic forest" anywhere, whats the original name of the song (not the one arranged by reiko nomura)
some mistakes at the solo part...but doesn't care...i really admire you...reallly goood playing...i love how u transmit feelings...i feel as if i were in that creepy, scary forest with some strange high trees talking to me with scary smiles in their faces...really keep on going u will be something great in the future...i love ur playing...really =)
I only got the first part down and some of the second part. But i'm confused as to how to change it from the first stage to the second stage. I can't figure out how to do 00:41 - 1:00 :(
I have this as a track from FFVI OST. Often listen to this tune. Its a beautiful piece of music but i wonder if its effect on me is more to do with my nostalgia for a certain time and place. FFVI was wonderful to play but at times it was a lonely experience. Mystic Forest was a great track to a wonderful game.
Watch dynamics. You have the playing down perfect, now go back and add in the dynamics and tempo changes. You play beautifully! I look forward to hearing more of your work.
I can't believe somebody thought of this theme to play. I LOVE IT! I always loved the theme when I played the game. But that section was soooo short, that always pissed me off, cause I liked the music so much.
Besides that I am also a little confused there, because I see quarter notes overlapping 1/16 notes. Now I know that the pedal must be used, but should you hold your pinkie at the quarter notes whilst playing the rest of the bar?
I hope you can really help me with this, and maybe give some tips how to pedal, deal with these quarter notes overlapping the other ones and to smoothly play it.
I hope it isn't too much to ask, but thanks in advance.
Very impressive. This is one of my favorite songs from the game so i watched this feeling pretty skeptical... however i am extremely impressed. Very nice work, my friend.
Hmm, it seems youtube won't let me paste URL's. Well anyway, to find sheets to Phantom forest type "ff music" in google and click the first website in the results, it's called "final fantasy music & videogames music," and the rest is obvious.
Yeah, that backround pattern is rather commonly used, and can be reminiscent of Pink Floyd, or James bond, however I think that it's Phantom Forest's lovely, variant and mysterious melody that sets it apart from these other songs. When it comes to melody, Uematsu wins!!! BTW, Uematsu used this pattern even earlier on in FF III's Crystal Cave, at least in the OSV.
I used to love this song when I was little and had figured out how to play the first two parts without sheet music. Recently I've been looking every where for the sheet music for this song exactly the way you play it. Would you happen to know where I could find it? Thanks!
Hey! Calbee I learned this on my piano and made my 2nd improv. It's not the whole song because my grannys camera ran out of room. and plus i stuff got to learn some more stiff on that songs. but anyways I'm dedicating it to you. because just like kyle556 you inspiered me (if i spelled that right)
calbee, how long have you been playing piano? This piece sounds like it would have taken you years to acquire the skill to play it. I could be wrong though.
ya um I learned from beginner books, I suggest like the first two or so beginner books to start, and then after that you should have the knowledge to be able to handle easy piece. Um I believe mine were like Alfred's or something...something with the name Alfred...lol
but the general tip is just to find any beginner piano books, that start from scratch teaching you the very basics
this video made my year. i tried to play this song but never could. the fact that someone else out there can and put it on video makes me a very happy muckson. thank you. never take this one down.
Buddha Christ, Jonny, how in Spira did you get that much emotion into that very simple piece? SOUNDS BETTER THAN THE MIDI-FILE!!! I watched ur second vid also featuring this, but I think this one hit the home-run. Best interpretation by a mile on youtube. True artist. U should be payed by utube to post vids!
How long should I play before I am to challenge this piece? Ive played for 4 months. Please be specific.
thanks a lot, although midi quality is crap quality, hahaha im just being a jerk, I know ur complimenting me.
well 4 months may be a little early, although I started this piece very early (cant remember). If you can handle speed, then I say go for it. Although with 4 months experience, it'll take you a long time to polish it and really control the volume.
yeah... i remember it being called the Phantom Forest... but whatever... i have the english and japanese soundtracks, so... >.< anyway... um, yeah... really nice job =) i'm impressed ^_^
one more thing, why don't you guys like te FFVI piano scores? i can play every one of them and i think they are just beautiful... *shrug* oh, well... GOOD JOB <3
hmm its pretty good i beleive your interpretation could be improved. i think u kept too much pressure on an even tempo more than u shouldve in the middle. and u didnt accentuate the melody enough in the same part. great accuracy throughout tho.
I can hear that a few notes (of the melody) are missing or blurry, is this what you mean? or you mean the entire thing generally should be more "accentuated"
i believe u the melody should stand out slightly more than the rest of the notes. via playing them a tad softer, thus moving the emphasis to the melody. this will also bring out the bassline as well. i guess its just getting a bit drowned out with all the notes being played relatively at a loud level.
Ok man, I just realized that you, callbee, are my favorite ff piano player here on youtube. you are simply the best. and youv played my favorite pieces its wierd. I love the mystic forest so much. thanks for all your great choices. i watch all your videos all the time man. how long have you been playing? and at what age did you start?
I especially liked your playing of the "faster" middle part. You play it really how I like it and I could sense the "mystic" feeling into it in that part (I hope I make some sense with this "mystic" feeling I'm talking about).
Anyway, this is just a little opinion I have. Besides that, you play this piece very nice!... And again I must say: nice piano! ;)
I really like this piece too, it's easy to remember this piece and I still play it sometimes.
