I have a serious question. Who funds and organizes these pageants and besides entry fees is there any profit in it? Who's in the audience and how much are tickets? I've never seen one advertised. Or is it like the holidays where the card companies profit? I've seen grown-up pageants and even drag pageants but I never understood who these were staged for besides the other parents!

@istyledotcom excuse me, but beauty pageants are not abusive to children. many of the girls enjoy pageants. I compete in pageants and I love them. I'm 17, but I know the lil girls here and they have so much fun. Don't be ignorant. They aren't that bad. Pageants do teach good traits. They give the chance to build confidence, meet new people, practice a talent, and develop strong skills at interviewing. Many pageants also encourage contestants to help out in the community. How is that a bad thing?

What you see are young girls made to look far more mature than is appropriate. And why the skimpy clothing and the inappropriate dance moves? Do these not bother you?

@istyledotcom excuse me, but beauty pageants are not abusive to children. many of the girls enjoy pageants. I compete in pageants and I love them. I'm 17, but I know the lil girls here and they have so much fun. Don't be ignorant. They aren't that bad. Pageants do teach good traits. They give the chance to build confidence, meet new people, practice a talent, and develop strong skills at interviewing. Many pageants also encourage contestants to help out in the community. How is that a bad thing?

The kids are way too beautiful for this. They don't need make up and clothes to look beautiful. Why should little girls look like adults when they aren't that far yet? Stop idolizing eighteen year olds and just love every stage as it is! Children as children and fifty year olds as fifty year olds without trying to make everyone look like a late teen?
