Thanks a million ELONut for posting this. I would have never guessed that they had live footage from this period. I love there stuff from No Answer up to (and including) Out of the Blue. This album was quite experimental.
Excellent post ELONut. I would never have thought live footage of them in their early days would be available, so this is a treat for me. I love ELO from 1972 to the double album.
I wonder why Jeff wasn't doing the "oooh oooh oooh ooh, dooo doo dooo doo doo" thing when the first break of the song came on like the studio version.
On the third day es a mi gusto el mejor disco de la Electric Light Orchestra y este vídeo es sensacional ya que pertenece a esa época, ademas de ser muy raro. Que perfecta canción es King of the Universe', gracias por publicar este gran vídeo!!!
This was a peak for ELO. This is one of the greatest live performances of anything I've ever heard. Also, this suite of songs or sections is one of the most stupendous creations in music, including the work of the great classical composers. This work could hardly be stronger, from the sweet lilting sections to the fiery dramatic parts. Mr. Lynne & Co. outdid themselves on this work. I only wish Lynne had included his beautiful wordless singing in the sweet, soft section.
@sweetbrowneyedlady I pretty much agree with what you are saying! I discovered (pun intended) ELO kind of backwards... "Time" caught my attention as a kid, and as I collected the albums it took me a bit to appreciate the early years. I think "Dreaming of 4000" might be my fav song by them ever.... but ask me tomorrow and it may be different!
@Rex1Mem Probably weren't that many people there since they really had no hit songs yet! Jeff talked about how the band members outnumbered the audience members in those early, lean years! Anyway, you are lucky!
ELO is amazing up to Out of the Blue. It's amazing to see them in their prog rock period -- On the Third Day is an underrated masterpiece. Thanks ELOnut for posting this.
I think Elo was great when the audience was a bit smaller than in the space ship concerts. No, I don´t mean they should have performed to the larger audience.
The first four albums are my favorite ELO time period, with "On The Third Day' being my favorite album. What a gem this video is: thank you for posting this -- such a great find
A founding member of rock band Electric Light Orchestra was killed on Friday in a freak accident with a giant runaway bale of hay.
Cellist Mike Edwards died instantly after the 1,320-pound bale came tumbling down a steep hill and onto the van he was driving through Devon, England. The bale is believed to have fallen from a tractor working nearby.
I like almost ELO songs. But I think their realier stuff had more fun. Fun to do whatever you want. That is the birth of a creative material. But like I said I like also later ELO stuff as well for other reasons. Perfect production, beauiful songs, luxus material.
@FinnMove Same hear, Jeff produced different styles during the ELO years and all of it was great from the creative early material to commercial material from the 80's.
Amazing!!! What a great line up this was!
