This deserved more than 6th place- was well performed with great choreography, quite a good song, not a winning number though , Corinne Hermes' song and vocal was outstanding.
JarvisBoots1 - I never thought about the "winning the war" phrase performed by Brits in Germany! That's such a good observation of yours! Made me laugh. I loved this song then and I love it now. Ryder, Bardo and Sweet Dreams performed the best of British pop in the 1980s and I so wish we could have more of this joyous music instead of the death-wish hatred that forms so much a part of rap.
I love this: and recently got given an original 1983 picture disc single by someone at work who found it in their attic!!! They deserved more than 6th, and when I heard this after nearly 26 years I recognised it instantly. A real classic. Perhaps their chances were damaged by singing about winning the war in Germany in English . . .??!!
there are no bad songs, only songs not in the style of music you like. if you like rap and i said its a bad song because i dont like rap its not true. in the context of pop music at this time its a catchy well done song.
i never knew it was bobby mcvey until now used to listen to him on red dragon radio all the time and never heard it mentioned ....small world loved this song
Did you know that the one in the middle is talent show judge Carey Grant. Carey said on Eurovision "Making Your Mind Up", that she was embarassed about this now. She has no need to be- it was and is still great.
I'm a Eurovision fanatic and have never seen this performance before. I love love love it! Great pop song, cheesy but sharp choreography and pitch perfect vocals throughout. And wasn't Bobby McVey a cutie! Does anyone know what he's doing now?
Hi Daz Bobby is my cousin...Robert as i know him :) He was a radio DJ in Wales for bout 10yrs..longest running DJ but he has moved to Italy now..I was so proud of this moment :)
well, trulyloyale i wouldnt say such harsh words. I agree we, from the south value more deeper songs, more emotional...but this is part of their culture, also as you see very good performance, different style actually, good voices, and lyrics is not negative, generally optimistic...of course this is not possible to measure with Mia Martini :)
The UK traditionally went for bouncy songs because that is what brought us the most success. Unfortunately ESC is that sort of song contest, otherwise Italy would have won far more than just the twice. We need more countries like Italy to compete to raise the standard once more.
Maybe so but the best ever winner came from them (1964) and their final entry in 97 was superb. Every nation has sent 'pure trash' at one time or another some some do it more often. Italy wasn't one of them.
usual silly-texted UK song, as always in the ESC ! And what about the music ? The usual childish worst kind of easy-hearing music and tunes composed only to capture northeuropean people's votes !

Lol, the comment about Argentina by the Spanish man was really out of place and he's also saying somehow that the song is a shit...
Well, apart from all that, I like the song quite much, still the blonde gilr is not the best singer in the world xD

Haven't heard Carrie Grant sing outside of this; I think the group here is better than the song and routine.

Raise the standard ? - some of their entries were pure trash! get real

Yes, my opinion. I respect yours and thank you for sharing it.

I agree with Merkkuri cultures vary. Looking back all those years this seems quite good. It is a good tune, routine and optimistic.
