I think your approach to music is somewhat narrow. Not meaning to sound disrespectful, but since when was music about chords? The plain-chord -approach to songwriting is quite meaningless to f.e. classical composers. Talented songwriters realize that chords and progressions are only limited. In fact it's the melody that makes the real difference as new harmonies formed by fresh melodies played on old chords, paint the different sounds and atmospheres in music.
