  • He is right, the C4 Corvette motors "burn up" too easy without hardly any stress. The correct figure is 235hp & 295t I know because I own one and am an aviation electrician NASA electrician. The Corvette is better. The white smoke is the driver over pressuring his intake which is the pinging & knocking you hear. He has bad valve seals, more then likely his front cam seals or his rear main seal/s.

  • I had a white 92' Talon, loved that thing :) Didn't race with it or soup it up, did put it through its paces a few times though... Got it mostly for the AWD which I actually needed, got me home in some bad storms!

  • i miss my 1g 91 gs-t, we rebuilt the 4g63 and it was a nasty beast!! Only problem was it wouldnt hook up because it was FWD!! nice talon! Its obviously a 92-94 based on the headlights and taillights, wheels are nice too, are thos Rays?

  • damn idk why everybody is bashing on the c4...the dsm had various mods vs a i assume stock c4...dont get me wrong that dsm is quick but the c4 are not SLOW cars as everyone says. i dnt push my c4 hard alot but ive taken out a 95 240 sx,89 mild modded iroc, and bmw 540i(believe it or not) if thats the one with the v8, and some random h22 prelude

  • Looks like an L98 equipped C4, around 245-250 HP/340ish TQ.

    Those motors die out around the 5k RPM range, maybe less...

  • Firstly, the DSMs are made here in Normal, IL, but it is an import in that it's a tiny car made by a Japanese company (it's pretty much a 2 door Galant). Second, the C4 vettes aren't all that since they had rather anemic engines and can be bought for as little as 5-6k in decent shape nowdays. Third, Eagle was one of remnants of AMC, the most famous of which is Jeep.

  • @Colemode a 1g dsm is a 1st generation eclipse there is 2g 3g and i think 4g now

  • @Colemode dsm means diamond star motors and started production in 1990 starting with the car I have a Plymouth laser rs which only went on until 1994 when they discontinued it. they stopped the talon in 1998 but the eclipse hasnt stopped production. In 1999 they stopped putting the 4g63 motor in the eclipse and chenged it and now thats the motor thats in the lancer evo.

    This Talon was basically stock. The mods besides the exhaust weren't helping make more power, they are preparatory mods for when the boost gets cranked up.

  • @bighunt08 haha, a stock turbo DSM could take your car. 14b's have gotten into the 11's/12's on hundreds if not thousands of cars, and into the 10's on more han 1 car also (though that is pretty far to push a little 14b turbo)

    The 14B on this Talon already has a 7cm turbine housing (as opposed to the stock 6cm), no need to port it.

  • @bighunt08 stock 4g63 motors can handle upwards of 500hp. just get stronger head studs metal head gasket bigger turbo fuel pump injectors and a mild tune a dsm can run low 11s or mid to high 10s with no nos. and ive seen an acura rsx put down 320hp with out a turbo with less money than a vette is worth. try doing some research before you try being a smartass youtube mechanic

We stayed away from the motor at first to avoid the stereotype American cars get of straight line go only (obviously not to say no money got to the motor thanks to the cintrafugal supercharger and others).. And I agree with u... Love the car when it's done well, hate the owner when they manage to fuck up a cool car (like a ricer).. I'd say the talon is done well I'm just trying to weed out the uneducated which u are not..

  • It's the C3 actually, I think...C4 was the early to late 90's model with the more rounded off trun lip. The last year for the vette in this video was 1991 or 92. It's the slowest corvette EVER made. Seriously, it is. It was slower than the model before it AND after it.

    It's a C4. This particular Vette is a 1985 automatic. They 14.1 1/4 mile stock, much faster than the late C3 models.

    The Vette in the video runs 14 flat.
