it will be hosted on a few game sites and you can find a server that hosts it as a free download, do not pay for it. you dont have to, just find the right patch. you should be able to find it on the battlefield website but maybe not. its out there, for free.

Well....there are still people that play it. You'll find about 150-300 servers open at any given time. But...it's def. less than the 1000+ servers one once saw....

But I would def. recommend this game. If you get good at it, it's HELLA FUN.

Yeah, there are lots. I just got back to playing it, and there is usually around 100 active servers at the moment. Sometimes it goes rely high...if you think every server has generally 15-64 people on it, thats allot of people!

lol...LAN means Local Area Network...so thats only if you have computers right beside each other and your playing in like a LAN party or something. Otherwise, you buy the game disk, and once you install it on your computer, create an account go to online and there is a list of like 200 servers you can play on. They are all owned by individuals and clans and such so you will have to follow their rules.

Ummm, not too sure. But one thing I can speculate is that just a bit ago they made a patch for battlefied 2 which enabled it to be played without a CD. My geuss is they will do the same for 2142, since there is already an update in progress for it.
