You got chops man...thats for sure!!! But...your laser rolls seem very uneven. i dont konw if its because of the camera...but i think its more because you seem very tense in your wrists. Your relying on the minor muscles of you fingers a lot...they can only take so much work. try to even out the consistency between your finger control and wrist control
@fuzzButtle You're replying to a 4 year old video man, I'm sure I could've used the advice at the time. But the technique served me well enough at blue knights these past two summers so I think i'm good for now.
@scizatt Oh nice!! Thats pretty sweet man!! Well now i feel like an idiot haha!! Well im sure its more than adequate now lol jk jk. Well keep it up man!
you dont have to get your panties ina bunch, i just didnt feel any beat out of the song... he has some serious talent i just thought he played it too fast
lol okay cause you know me soooo well douchebag you obviously have some issues to come on youtube and start chirping people, i probably have more musical talent than you
ughhh, chirping people? that was a little weird, those are buzz rolls there is no too fast for buzz rolls, if you did have musical talent you should know simple things like this before posting things that you don't know. oh no! i made a typo! that's so terrible! Yeah your cool, your real cool
i know what a buzz roll is you moron and yeah chirping, ragging on, talking shit its the same thing... anyways a lot of people agree that it should be slown down a bit to feel more of a beat, anyways youre probably some highschool marching band failure who has nothing else to do but try and piss people off so... nice try?
wow for one how do you not notice all the dynamic chanes and asents they're obvious. And your judging people like you said i was, chirping isn't a normal word for what you're trying to say eihter :P You can talk much about what i said you're pretty much being a hypocryte
the vertical strokes on ur right hand go inwards a little...and u have a flying pinky my friend...and i do not like this piece at all..its all jumbled together, you can barely distinguish rhythm patterns....but yeah
This seems to fuel the misconception that "fast is automatically good". I'm not saying this is bad playing or a bad piece. It's probably just played too fast for me to hear the significant rhythm behind it. But at this speed, it just sounds like random hacking...
ouch lol. you're supposed to act like that when you're playing in front of 900+ people to sell the piece.. and to keep your confidence up no matter how nervous you really are. I'm the most humble dude ever!
ooook i'm tired of people hacking on the sound of the snare. For the last time, it was the acoustics of the auditorium that created that wet sound. there were no curtains in the place to absorb the vibration. It had nothing to do with the way the snare was tuned. Sorry, I had to say something
ok first of all, those are 2 totally different types of snares, this is a marching snare and metallica has a regular drum set snare. For a marching snare, this one sounds amazing.
Looking forward to seeing your solo at I&E bud... By the ways scott, I will never forget what was going on in your head 1:35 in and what came out 1:45 in... haha, i think adam and I were crying out of laughter. Got to love that natural talent.
just so you know that was a written out snare solo played by mickey burmer at I&E a few years ago. The quality isnt too great on this video so some of the rolls came out as well as it could have. and no, not everyone can play back stick flam drag inverts and book reports along with the combination of cheeses and da chuttas towards the end.
the ones they use at my school double as a marching and consert and they are damn near 500...thats why i said that. probably not ALL of them are, but the particular brand they buy here are.
i have never seen or heard of a head that doubles as a concert head...that would actually be stupid...and paying 500 for a drum head...u would almost b better off gettin a new snare...there are no heads that cost that much. period end of story.
for the high school marching drum heads, they are not. the ones that are 40-50 are the cheap ass ones....look them up online...they are special made...and you would know??
hmm.. the head on that drum is a black remo. they'd go for about 50 bucks. I've never heard of a marching snare head costing 500 dollars. a concert head maybe..
Choking that far up on your traditional hand is broadening the already inherent tambour difference between matched right and traditional left. Your solo would probably be served greatly just by holding back a bit farther on your traditional hand. Great solo nonetheless.
playing snare trad is not impossible to sound even. but yea, that year i was up a little bit. and i believe you were thinking of the word, timbre (pronounced tamber)..
its because when you play faster you have really less control with the stick i have that same trouble when i march but im only a freshman soo give me some leeway lol
i've tried out a few times but things have gotten in the way. this past season i tried out for crossmen and mad first alternate. then around may i got a call back from them asking to come audition for a spot they lost, but i had broken my ankle during spring break :/ i also got a call from joe hobbs at southwind saying they needed to fill a snare spot. yea, i got kinda unlucky this year :/

That is not true at all.
Once you reach this level of performance, looking at the drum doesn't make a difference anyways--it's on a stand, too.
Believe me, it's good because he's amazing not because of where his eyes.
Finally a decent rudimental solo
