Do you put something on the tool you use to make the trees?

@FunkyFreshest12 Nope! Its all abount manipulating and blending the layers of paint with the palet knife to give it the effect of bark. Just make sure the paint is wet so you can scrape away existing layers of paint.

Do you have to use a special kind of paper for this, or does anything work?

@TheAliBarnes I use $.89 glossy posterboard from Walgreens. Anything glossy will do because the paint doesnt soak into the paper so the paint can be manipulated better. Hope this helps!
