As an Alabama fan, I'd have to say Romey nailed it on almost every point. 'Bama' was great & LSU didn't even show up for the game. If Lee would have played, it would have a totally different game, surely a different result. Even Saban said that in an interview the next morning. I don't think Nick wanted to put down Miles, but he was basically saying he played the wrong QB. It's easy to get outcoached when you don't coach at all. LSU players should be infuriated with Miles. You know it's really bad when even an Alabama says "I know we're good, but we're not 'that' good."

What: "Morning after" trophy presentation and press conference. Why: because I'm sports media - and there were about a hundred others standing next to me who heard him say the same thing. Sorry if you weren't there or your local sports guy didn't report it or you missed it. But you're a fan - you think with your heart, not your mind. That means nothing.

@guyfroml I can't get past your first response. I question your being a member of any sports media. If you were, then you would know his name is spelled SABAN, not SABIN. So I'm supposed to believe you because you say so....that is your proof? My dad was a sports radio pioneer. I work in radio myself...for an AUBURN affiliate. I'm much more than a mere fan. You know nothing about me...lmao.

Oh, and I never claimed to be a sportswriter or reporter. I did all the videography for the Sugar Bowl and BCS. All the pregame press conferences and post game conferences you watched on ESPN, your local news station - that was my feed.

@guyfroml Where did I say me working for a radio station makes me more than a fan? The work I do at the station has nothing to do with me being a fan, let alone define me or my mentality. I question Saban stating that "it would have been a totally different game, surely a different result" as that infers that LSU would have won had Lee been allowed to play. And the "not that good" quote came from a "person" at the BHM NPR station? NPR??? BWAHAHA! Alrighty then...smh.

@THEALABAMANATI0N Saban's comment was classy. Unlike a fan, he wasn't going to stand there and say something dumb like"oh, we would have kicked the butt of anybody who played QB." He's an experienced coach- he knows things would have been different with a different QB. Now, what kind of difference?..who knows for sure. No one will ever know since Miles didn't put Lee in the game. The one thing that I and other writers covering the game agreed is it would have been a diffferent offense and game.

@THEALABAMANATI0N Oh, and the other person I quoted ("we're good, but not that good") was one of the guys with Alabama radio out of Birmingham. He was with the local NPR station there and we sat together during most of the pregame press conferences.

i'd really like to know what was wrong with LSU that evening. Watching them on the sidelines and on the field, it looked like they had quit by the mid-point of the 2nd Quarter. Like, seriously, any opinions would be welcome

@dtblitz55 i think lsu knew it was lucky to beat bama in november, i mean bama outplayed lsu in the nov game except for spcl teams, so i think after a few series that lsu realized it was over, and to top it off, the defense from bama was unstoppable!!!!

As an Alabama fan, I'd have to say Romey nailed it on almost every point. 'Bama' was great & LSU didn't even show up for the game. Frankly, even though I'm obviousley thrilled that Alabama won, I'm disappointed that LSU played like that. I was expecting an old fashioned SEC style slugfest. I was only half right cuz only one team was doing the slugging. It looked like LSU spent the last 5 weeks getting themselves fitted for their crowns while Alabama was preparing for a football game.

Rome laying down the law of what really happened, the way i se it, if you got 40,000 fans yelling jarett lee, jarret lee, then dang it put the guy in, he may could have done something, jefferson was stinking up the joint, and their were 40,000 lsu fans paying customers who felt like he deserved a shot (jarret lee) I for one agree as well, but know les messed up...biggest blunder ever in a college game, ever...Bama stomped them..

I don't understand people saying this was the worst national championship game ever! I guess they didn't see Nebraska manhandle Florida in '96 62 to 24 and USC beat down Oklahoma 55 to 19. Congratulations to both teams for another great season. Hog fan here.
