@firebear I'm not condoning war crimes even when committed by individual soldiers but I do believe it is wrong to make the generalization that the Japanese, Germans or Russians were all genocidal psychopaths or that entire peoples deserve to suffer, even the ones who did nothing wrong.
Also remember the Versailles treaty and how much Germany lost. We all know that Hitler had far more sinister motivations to start the war, but for the German people this was a chance to take back what was lost.

The US only dropped the atomic bombs because it was necessary otherwise the war would have gone on a lot longer and millions would have been lost on both sides. The Japanese murdered pregnant Chinese women and their babies and used civilians for bayonet practice for PLEASURE. There was even a contest between two Japanese officers to see who could behead 100 Chinese first with a Katana.

When Soviet Union Attacked Finland, they had 1,000,000 Russian soldiers while Finns had only 300,000 men. Russians didn't get Finalnd and the Winter War ended because Russians didn't want to take more casaulties.

When there were not them, Hokkaido was certainly occupied.
As for the brave soldiers, most were dead, and the survivor was taken to the Siberia.

I have to applaud you for showing a rarely-seen side of the Japanese during the war. Most of what we see is from the American side: pushing them off one island after the other, bombing Japan, the Pearl Harbor attack, kamikazes, etc. I daresay you've successfully shown that they were just as human as the rest of the men fighting out there...
Great choice for music. Little odd at the end, but Zimmer fits nicely. "Final Charge" or "Ronin" might have been a better sound bite for the naval scenes.
