This is a video of the NEW BAND of the Rhapsody of fire's drummer Alex Holzwarth and BlindGuardian's bassist Oliver Holzwarth called PERGANA (female gothic metal)
@sonicachilles Simone appeared only in two songs of the classical set of this concert: "Ombra Mai Fu" and "Stabat Mater Dolorosa". Shame they couldt release this song in The Classical Conspiracy :S
You can hear so clearly in this where Epica get a lot of their writing influences from (infact some bits of 'Cry For the Moon' are directly lifted from this Orff piece note for note!). Still all credit to them - atleast they are musically literate and can hold their own with an orcehstra which is more than a lot of Metal Bands could
@rayfan9876 metalmaster29 already answered this, but i think you may have missed it. Carmina Burana is the name of the collection of songs of which O Fortuna is a part of. Carl Orff is the composer of the music, the lyrics are poems written in the 12th-13th century by clerics.
@1991MrJake O Fortuna is the name of the song. Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata written by Carl Orff. This movement is often mistakenly calle Carmina Burana but O Fortuna is the correct name for it.
WOW how original !!! No one would every expect a metal version of this song. You alone must be the inspiration for Trans Siberian Orchestra. Bands like Savatage and Testament could only dream to be like you.
So why do I have a CD version of this with normal epica songs like Sensorium, Never Enough, etc...but there are only videos of the classical songs on youtube.
They play one our of classik songs togheter wiht the band. Then they play a whole epica-concert togheter wiht the ochrestra and the chior. The songs sounds more bombastic and shows the true epcica-sound! It was unbelieveble!!!!
AWESOME!!!! can't figure out what exactly this whole show is and I really really wish there was a DVD of it. If anyone knows of a way to view this whole concert please let me know
My eyes are too watery tf sewhati'm typiiing.
There, I wiped them. This is just amazing. I love this song, and Epica too.

Um, this song isn't by Therion. It was composed by Carl Orff. Therion is just one of the many groups that have done renditions of it.

It's hard to cover "O Fortuna". It's kind of arythimic for metal beats.
EdwinMarc 1 year ago
@EdwinMarc tso pulled it off pretty damn well. But the vocals were crap. They sang in Latin with a thick American-English Accent.

better version than therion's one!

This Track is called Carmina Burana, why have they called it O Fortuna?
1991MrJake 1 year ago
@1991MrJake Because that's the most commonly recognized part of the song.
dqakanic 1 year ago
@1991MrJake Because Carmina Burana is a collection of 26 songs. What they are playing is the end and beginning song which is named O Fortuna.
EternaDevotee 1 year ago
@1991MrJake
Carmina Burana I believe was the writer, and it became known as the track's name for some reason.

While its a good live album, it's a shame that they didn't do 13 minute epic "The Divine Consipiracy", which I believe is the highlight of the cd.
