  • Where did this documentary come from? What's the source for this? Can you cite this please? :)

  • @08Pixel MOFAS, Minnesota Org. on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

  • The courage of these women is amazing!!

  • Many parents arent aware of the symptoms and do see it as a behavioral problem, not being aware that the child's developmental growth is affected depending on the extent of the condition. I had a child in my classroom that had many behavioral issues and his parents were in denial, i referred them to seek help, the child had mild retardation. Although there were no physical symptoms of it, all the mental issues were present. Sad when they parents or doctors dont recognize it or assest the child.

  • Thank You for the wonderful information!

  • Then again I started to self medicate even more with alcohol and drugs. Using both at the same time. So I guess I just blocked a lot of things out. Alcoholic blackouts.

  • I grew out of the violent behavior. In grade school a teacher made me stand up in front of the class and she said that she knew were I was going to be when I grew up. She said that I would be in Kingston Federal Penitentiary when I grew up. I have always been very good with animals. By high school I pretty much grew out of the violent behavior.

  • What your teacher did to you was WRONG, to tell a child something so negative is very destructive, it hurt you deeply. Just because someone is a certain way doesn't mean that they will be that way for the rest of their lives.

  • Well I never did go to jail and I am 42 years old now. However I have been through many jobs. My wife says that I have no internal thermometer. She says that I don't seem to know hot or cold like a normal person. She complains about my long term memory being poor. Also my wife does have to handle all the money and pay the bills.

  • My biological mother had four children and she was a sever alcoholic. She left my dad for a man that she met in a bar. She had two boys with him and gave them up for adoption.

  • I seriously now believe that FASD is the reason my family is so messed up.

  • you may well be right William, it's too bad that your mother made such bad choices for her live and the lives of her unborn children. It's a blessing that you turned out so well in spite of it all. I do believe that God can heal you, if you are willing I would LOVE to pray for healing for you :) God bless you William.

  • When that girl learned her times tables and suddenly forgot them 2 weeks later, she was exhibiting signs of autism.

Kids with autism can learn skills and forget them suddenly.

  • @MondoBeno FASD and Autism are very similar in some aspects. I've worked with kids who have FASD, and kids who have Autism, and it's very similar in some aspects, and VERY different in others. You need to be able to see those differences to label correctly, and thats where it goes wrong. I've had to help correct many cases, because they look at the social awkwardness and read it as ASD, when it should be FASD. Thats why it's so hard to label these kids.

  • Thank you for the message. Everyone needs to know this information!
