Dude, your truck makes it realy tempting for me to put stacks on mine. Cause your truck looks damn good with stacks! I have a 93 GMC Sierra 2500 with a DD.
what kind of gas mileage do you get out of it? Im considering throwing in a 6.2 turbo because it would be more simple swap but a 6.5 is known to make a little more power but I hear the injectors are bad
@Camscape I've seen a 6.2 non turbo get from 18 to 24 mpg. I own an m1009 cucv its the blazer version and has a non turbo 6.2 and it gets around 19 or 20
WOW that sounds awesome. I have a 94 with a 6.5td. Love to put stacks on it what did you do muffler/exhaust to make it sound awseome and give it the bark?
@randombk82894 in your opinion would it be smart to stay away from them? I really like the 88-00 chevy and gmc duallies and also want a diesel but if the 6.5 is a hard motor to want to mod then should I stay away? like would upping the boost a lil or tuning it be a handful?
@keith91z28 they are not hard to mod but the pmds on them like to overheat which can be fixed by relocating them..if your going to really mod your engine get a 12valve cummins..the 6.5s arent the worst diesel engines to mod but they are harder to tune
@keith91z28 if you know what your doin it prob wouldnt be to bad but i know the oil pan of the cummins hits the front diff but thats all i really heard...it would be easier to use the cummins tranny if possible because if not you have to buy adapters and shit which is a lot more.
no not yet im having alot of Pump related problems idk if its the PMD or the injection pump the injection pump is original but the pmd was relocated and replaced on the intake manifold but i think it over heated and is giving me problems now i may have to replace it again and move it somewhere less heat exposed but i will get a video of it on here one day lol
i loved my 6.5l turbo diesel but there so unreliable in my opinion. the pmd will burn up. its not *if* its *when* them pmds will brake the bank. i even relocated it with a heat sink and dual fans
Where I live if you went through a water hole over your bumper yer truck would disappear like you were in quicksand. Trust me I've been up to the window cranks stuck with 9" of lift and 38's. Sticky situation.
i had a 95 gmc with a 6.5 diesal really loved the truck but the 6.5 is such a peice of SHIT!!!! now i got a 03 dodge with the cummins love the motor but the truck is such a peice of SHIT!!!! if only i had the 5.9 in the 95 gmc that wouldve been a sweet truck!!
sounds like a 400 with a loud engine and a turbo sweet lol i know couple for sale cheap to im buy one just to make ppl look like huh with a exhaust on it lol
i got a 98 GMC 2500 4X4 with a 6.5 that i would love to do stuff like that with. all my buddies got fords so i'm the lone 6.5. so i love the video showing some 6.5's having fun.
Whats on this for exhaust? Im guessing straight pipe, but is the catylidic converter off it? I took my muffler off and it wasnt much louder. . . I guess the stacks make a big difference too probly.
im looking at buying one just for a toy. its a 96-97 1500 4x4 with 6.5 turbo. it runs good an does good but its been flipped. he wants 800 for it you think it worth it for a toy or should i go to a gas?
is there any tricks i can do to make my 97 diesel blow nice black smoke like yours? like a power comander or something similer without going to bigger injectors and stuff like that?
@Camscape whay do mean by treat it right. do these motors like to be run long distances. i am thinking of getting one but in the winter i only drive 10 miles a day. in the summer 50miles a day.
@Nate71Taylor i love my 6.5 i pull all our farm crap with it, never had a problem, if you have time to take care of it and a dry place to park it i would reccomend it
@Nate71Taylor not unless you have a mechanical background. if not and you want a diesel get an old ford with a 6.9L they just dont really care, sure they have to have about 150 bucks put into them to make them completely reliable but reliable none the less.
electric transfer pump, 12V 6.5L glow plugs with a push button.
@Nate71Taylor well then get one like this and swap a cummins 6B 12V into it its amazingly cheap and easy to do and getting more and more common every day many companies make adapters and prefabbed wiring harness conversions just a little wiring work to hook up all the gauges and a cummins will drag 3 6.5s tied together up a hill
The GM-X Turbos don't quite whistle as much as other turbos would, but open up the intake a little bit (I have an AFE intake system) and open the exhaust up (3" downpipe and 4" exhaust).
How Pete and Mike can have so much fun and still have time to handle all those reported post I'll never know, lol. Great vid guys, looks like you had a blast !
How the hell did you get three 6.5's in the same place!?! Lucky bastards! I'm one of the only people in my area that has one, nevermind one with 620 rwtq thats highly upgraded... You guys are soo lucky...
