Recorded on June 7, 1956; written by Sammy Cahn & Bronislaw Caper for the 1956 MGM film of the same name (starring Paul Newman as "Rocky Graziano")- featured on the soundtrack at the beginning and end of the film.
Always remembered this song from the Paul Newman movie about Rocky Graziano.Remembered the poise with which he sang it right through to the big finish. As some others have noted here, not many crooners could do this.
Mr. C was deceptively casual, but when he needed to, he could amp up the vocal chords & hit the high notes with grace & power (something other crooners like Dino, could not.) Perry was an impeccable singer, whose smooth seamless, seemingly effortless style masked an incredible technical mastery of vocal artistry. He remains, for all his sold / gold records & high honors, one of entertainment history's most underrated singers. Someone should do a great documentary or biopic on Perry Como.
Don't feel sad about the fact that Perry was underrated like singer, for what I've understood, reading about his life, he was happy, that is most important that to be considered the best singer. Maybe to be overstimated like others, he should had done not good things. Con you hear how much humanity in his singing?
I feel he was a really special person. I'm a liric singer, but i like so much to sing sometimes this song and "and I love you so"... he was a bass-baritone...
From the Rocky Graziano bio pic. And refutes those critics who questioned whether Perry had great vocal power, simply because he usually sang mellower songs.
Great voice, great performance... I have been many years looking for this song here in Spain, That ´s been impossible... Thanks for posting once again...!!! I m certain that somebody, yes somebody up there likes me...!!!!

@CarlDuke Yes, the joke was that he was so casual he seemed to be singing through his eyes.
