  • i'm in love..

  • Great review - I wish everyone knew how to give a no-nonsense review! Imagine someone actually knowing what they wanted to say before the camera was turned on!

    Thanks!

    best

    mqqn

  • why does this guy sound like he talking to a class full of retards :/

  • @ladyfeind I'll take that criticism and try to do better in the future. I have to make an assumption on the level of knowledge of the audience which won't match everyone. It's a hard balance to find. If the "tone" is insulting I'll see if I can improve that. Thanks for watching.

  • Shutup about safety u get thumb down

  • You do not need the break down tool to field strip this weapon..

  • What's the difference between this and the Kimber Convert II?

  • @leeradio13 its also a .380 vs .45 ACP what would you rather carry?

  • leeradio13 its also 380 vs. a .45 ACP what would you ratger carry?

  • the walther ppks .380 is more accurate.

  • As far as the take down there are some places (got mine on Ebay) that make a delrin piece that clips onto the spring guide on the end and come right apart. best $9 I have spent on a gun.

  • Grear little guns!

  • very thorough and good review. i feel like i have enough information to help me decide on a future purchase. Thank you.

  • Looks like a cap gun. Ugly grips, trigger and hammer.

  • Skip the first minute if you don't want to waste 60 seconds of your life watching the obligatory youtuber safety lecture.

  • why do you act like everyone is so dumb when it comes to safety? you talk like we r two years old...

  • How reliable has this gun been? I have heard that short barrel 1911's have reliability options like crazy.

  • Great review!!! I may be in the market for a 1911, later this year.

  • have you ever had ejection problems?

  • Good vid man; I'm thinking of picking this one up in a few months. How much did you get yours for? I'm seeing $965 in my area.

  • kimber sucks using plastic on there frames. will never buy one. Go Colt....

  • I spoke with sales in Kimber today before I purchased my new Ultra Crimson Carry II. They advised me that for a Kimber with a three inch barrel you should only shoot 230 grain rounds in either ball or hollow point. For a self defense round they recommend :

    1. Federal 45 ACP 230 gr Hydra-Shok Premium Personal Defense

    2. Remington 45 ACP Golden Saber 230 Grain Brass Jacketed Hollow Point

    3. Winchester Ranger 230-Grain .45 ACP

  • @MrLittleblindshakey

Has to do with the short stroke of the slide on the 3" barrel versus the 4" or 5". The idea is to try and get a Hollow Point with a similar profile to a 230 grain ball. Also, recommended I do not use +P or +P+ rounds (high power) rounds either. I believe the short slide action and ramp angle on the three inch is more finicky. Buy whatever you want for the four or five inch.

  • You have had this gun for a while now. So are there any more hiccups any more?

  • Excellent review. Thank you.

  • Without being perceived as a "Glock only" guy, the problem I have with 1911's are the considerably long break in period. In the end you'll drop a grand on this weapon and at least $500 on ammo before it's considered reliable enough to carry (remember, you must fire at least 500 rounds of your defensive cartridges before carrying them as well) and for me, Golden Sabers aren't cheap.

  • @Christopher71488 yea, the break-in may be long by your standards, but a few weekends at the range will run through 500 rounds easily, and if you reload your own ammo, it doesn't cost anywhere near the amount you posted :) Happy shooting

  • Can you please explain what the purpose of a bumper on a mag does?

  • @Mentoque they save your hands when slapping in a mag quickly. It makes a huge difference, at least for me. The flush metal ones have a tendency to pinch your skin in between the magwell and the mag. Doesn't feel too good.. ;-) They also can help with quicker reloads and insuring proper seating.

  • @wishbone1138 Not trying to be a "know it all" but the bumper pads are protection when the mag falls to the ground during fast reloads. H4T

  • @Mentoque Protects the mag from damage when you drop it. Allows you to load a mag more readily. Your hand is cupped not flat. Loading a flush mag is hard. Quicker to extract a stuck mag. Basically its a point of purchase that is always exposed, 100% contact.

  • Oops you already mentioned the mags. I hope you get it figured out. Recoil springs is another good option. Goodluck

  • @JungleJimAB9AB unfortunately this seems to be the case with some of their firearms. Id stick it to them and keep sending it in until you receive a new gun. Theres no reason for a 1000+ 1911 to behave that way. Only other thing I'm sure you've tried is changing mags. That really helped me.

  • CONTINUING PART 2 of 2: I'll shoot another 100 rounds or so through my Ultra and see if that really "breaks-in" the pistol and cures my problem. Please note that my Kimber Ultra CDP II Custom Shop has been sent back to the manufacturer for warranty work once and back to the Dealer's gunsmith twice. Nothing helped. I've changed magazine manufacturers, ammo and my grip. Now I'm going to change the recoil springs, shoot more rounds and maybe grease the slides. Anyone else have a similar problem?

  • Super good video. Like your production values and excellent content. I've only just gotten around to watching this episode, so hadn't notice from your other outstanding videos, that you said it takes about 1,000 rounds to break the Kimber Ultra's in. I may have the only bad Ultra CDP II CUSTOM SHOP, but I'm at around 900 rounds and it's not performing reliably for me. It's failing to feed consistently. Couldn't depend on it to save my life. END PART 1 of 2.

  • This is a good option... have you reviewed the Colt new agent 90? I looked at both and decided on the Colt. It has a thinner profile, no top sights to snag on things (lets face it... you are probably going to engage within 10 yards), does not require a tool to break down, and is about 300 dollards cheaper (maybe not so much once you put on the crimson trace grips). My only complaint is the beaver tail on the back. It is a lot thinner than the kimber's and it bites just a tiny bit.

  • Love all your reviews. This video lead me toward the Kimber line. I have a Kimber tactical ultra II that i conceal with a crossbreed holster. Check out my videos and let me know what you think.- Thanks again for the great reviews. - Shane George

Concealed carry golf shirt with crossbreed holster

  • I love my Kimber, but I don't like how the mainspring housing is made of plastic. I know that Colt used plastic in their mainspring housings and you don't need very much strength in the MSH, but when shelling out 1,400 dollars for a pistol, you think that you would get the best components made. Also I dislike the take down tool idea as well. If I'm in the field and need to disassemble, I'm pretty much screwed unless I have my toll with me, and you can't carry it in your pocket, too fragile.

  • @shem1911 It can be disassembled without the tool, but it is something that takes practice and I'm not fond of doing it that way. I think I link to it in the field-strip video. I don't remember my MSH being plasic? I'll have to look again. I don't think it's a huge deal, but I'm with you. There are a couple of places Kimber cuts corners these days that is undesirable for a firearm of this price.

  • @shem1911 I'll buy a plastic Glock, but you're right for this kind of money the MSH should be steel.

Kimber probably knew they would take flak for using MIM, so they went with plastic instead.

  • Excellent Review.

  • They should have made a compartmen in the grips for the paperclip tool.

  • Can you tell a difference from the 4 inch barrels? Great vid.

  • WISHBONE1138!!, Do you know what¿¿¿????

I loved yours hand!s!! and of course perfect guide`s video, 2!

    I already suscribed you :)

  • Great review of a great gun. The allen wrench thingy is kind of lame but the gun is awesome.

  • can you use +p ammunition in the ultra carry just wondering i have 230 grain jhp in mine havent shoot none but it has a bull barrel so i was thinking it might withstand it

  • i love my kimber .the part i really like about it is the trigger ,if you carry you should not modify your gun because they would tear you to pieces if you was in court about you modifing your gun if you was to protect yourself with it .remember that .its best to have a good gun to save your life and one that is dependable also .. just things to remember and id wait and save a couple of hundred dollars and get a kimber its allready been modified to fit your likeings i give mine a 10 out of 10

  • @whatsmyname252 I couldn't agree more about the modification stuff. Same arguments can apply to special "self defense ammo" and any handgun that has extra features above and beyond a standard model.

  • Good review watched your vid often to learn about the firearm before I purchased.

    Thanks

  • Your experience with your Ultra is very informative, consider me sub'd. Have the Pro Crimson Carry II (4" barrel, aluminum frame) and had NO break-in period with it (have run about 1,200 rounds through so far without so much as a hiccup). Picking up an Ultra TLE (3", stainless steel) at the end of the month and very curious to experience the dreaded "Kimber 3in. break-in", as well as the difference in the shooting experience of my 4" aluminum vs. the 3" stainless. Keep you posted.

  • @FistsOfLegend1 I hope you're happy with it. I like this one so much I really want another one. Let me know how it goes.

  • love the review, your voice sounds like an announcer at a gun safety class..or even an operator at an amusement park

  • @creation94 hah! Thanks, I think?

  • @wishbone1138 It wasnt really a compliment or an insult, but now that i saw some of your other videos i say compliment because your voice doesn't get boring or annoying in longer videos

  • I really wish I could afford one of those. I'm happy though, I got myself the same model that LAPD Swat and SIS uses, the TLE 2, but damn, I really want a compact version. Maybe after a Glock 26 and a nice burner revolver in 357/.38...sorry, just fantasizing :P

  • Great video, very useful! I agree with the 'take-down' tool, seems like they could have used the same barrel bushing mechanism as the 1911 without copyright infringements. I will be ordering some more 'take-down' tools and the 1911UltaTool as well!

  • Wow! This was a very good review. Well organized and quick pace. One comment on the gun, I believe the .45 is already a slow lobbing round, but now you have taken away two inches from the barrel; that slows it even more. Pro carry would be my choice.

  • @PowerForGood You are absolutely correct of course, but at the distances most people are likely to use this it will honestly make very little difference. Thanks for watching!

  • I can't wait to take mine home, I'm paying on a cdp ii lg and it's my first gun ever and going to be my carry. Only two more payments to go X)

  • Great review and a beautiful firearm.

  • nice vid man!

  • You can remove the recoil spring without the little tool. I have the exact same weapon and do it everytime without the tool, someone else already has a video up of how to install remove it without tool.

I give this pistol 5 stars!

  • Great review, very professional. This gun (or a similar Kimber) will probably be my next handgun.

  • Man I was looking at this one today but at $1200 I had a hard time buying it, but its still on my mind so I may get it still.

  • I want a revolver for personal protection but I don't want the bullet to go through the intruder and hit someone else. What would someone recommend?.

  • @MrWorldbefree A 38 snub nose.

  • The ambidextrious safety on the 1911 must be bobbed or simply removed in order for it to clear the laser light. I put a set of Crimson Trace grips on my Kimber Ultra Carry II and it had ambidextrious safety that either had to be removed and shortened, or purchase a bobbed right side safety. By having a bobbed safety, you still have the ambidextrious safety use. Hope this answers your questions.

  • @kb8bs ahh, good information, thank you!

  • What is in original weigh and weigh with full bullet @wishbone1138?

  • @sandor139 - anything that shoots a hollow point! 45 with a nice fragmentation round will do the job nicely :)

  • the best money i have ever spent ,,it is worth every penny in every aspect..dont leave home without it

  • So to continue with my point, round #7 and round #11 out of a Kimber were failures of the gun (not the ammo or the shooter) I'm on round #158 and have yet to have a malfunction. My gun $465 (+ tax) his gun $975 (+ tax) So like I said, I'm not so sure about Kimber's guns...

  • Honestly speaking, I used to like Kimbers alot more than I do now. IMO they are just too expensive. I know "You get what you pay for" and Kimbers are good guns. But I have a Rock Island Armory M1911 A1 that functions exceptionally well considering I paid only $465 for it. Brand new gun, 158 rounds fired, 0 malfunctions. My friend has a Kimber Custom Stainless II and after 6 rounds it had a failure to feed. He cleared it and loaded another mag and after another 3 rounds it had a failure to eject.

  • i heard that you can also use a paperclip for takedown in someone elses review

  • Very professionally explained.

  • i love my ultra carry 2,the very best gun carry ever made besides a 380 and i have power

  • GREAT review! Thanks!

  • please can you tell me how much you paid for that kimber tax included? good review by the way-i dont understand why ppl gave you such negative comments fuck them!

  • mommy mommy, i want dis one.

  • great review - thanks man! one quick question.. how is the laser sight powered? is battery power going to be a problem?

  • @highwingprop Thanks! Small watch battery. Battery life seems to be good, but I don't use it daily. Changing out the battery isn't difficult, it's contained in the grips.

  • Nice gun but boy do you like to hear your self talk!!!!

  • this guy sounds pretty gay. the fact that he is holding a kimber almost makes up for his gayness but not quite. sweet ass gun though

  • very good review. i was debating on a Colt Defender or the Ultra Carry II. i have made my decision to go with Kimber. I just hear so much on reliability that Kimber has on many other brands out there. also the are not many models to chose from w/3" barrels 1911. thanks for the review

  • @danielbn0987 I don't think you'd go wrong with either choice. Colt makes a quality product, but I do love my Kimber and I'm very happy with my decision there. It's still the firearm I carry with me everywhere.

  • you are stupid

  • why are all the comments paragraphs?

  • Looks like a sweet gun for carry. Do you happen to know if an ambi thumb safety is available?

  • @unicornlxi Yes, any ambi 1911 thumb safety should work. I think wilson makes one? Don't hold me to that though, there are a lot of custom stuff out there these days. This is something I'd really like to change on mine actually. I'll post up if I end up doing it.

  • @wishbone1138 Thanx, if you find one, will you post it on my account message page. I appreciate it!

  • @wishbone1138 You are right. Wilson Combat does make an Ambi-safety and they have them fitted for different models of 1911's.

  • Napolian, you're just jealous that I have been chatting with hot babes online all day.

  • nice gun!if u dont mind,how much u pay for this!

  • I got a raging clue right now

  • you sound like a homo.

  • @WILCOX11B I don't think a man's voice has any bearing on his sexual preference. Nor do I believe it is our business to judge. Just my 2 cents.

  • too much talk about safety, 1911 has enough safeties on it, wasted time, yea we get it, anyways I have the ultra SS and love that fucking thing, got it cheap and spent the extra money for the laser and night sights, fucking beak in period was apain the ass and expensive, about 4 bills in ammo when said and done. it loves the golden sabers and eats them up. now the slide racks effortlessly, and the recoil is non existant. patience pays off. i like the ultra better than the pro, easier takedown

  • beautiful gun nothing better than a 1911 but ur telling us u have to put 500 rounds throught it b4it will feed and fuction properly im sorry but other 1911 companys that make 3 inch barreled 1911 function how they should right out of the box and no matter what the size of gun for 1200 dollars it should function properly right out od the box but great video and beautiful gun

  • i was designated 45 b 20(gunsmith) in the army in the early 70s i worked in 3 different shops, including a stint as a company armorer 2 posts involved total rebuilds, disassembly, parkerizing, reassembly including inspection&replacement of worn parts.i did every damn .45 issued on 3 continents (well it seemed like it any way)everything was mixnmatch in parkerizing tanks and every .45 reassembled was at 41/2 lbs trigger weight tested nice vid keep on truckin mr.browning rocks reply welcomed

  • Your the man verry helpfull

Do you know whare I could find a ultra carry lg at a good price

I like the black on black like you show what is the color codeing called

    Is the frame steel?

Once a gen your the man

  • you don't need the tool to break it down in fact it just gets in the way

  • $1240 isn't expensive? Geez I almost choked on my food. I'm not saying Kimbers are a rip off or anything, but come on $1000 or more is a lot to pay for a pistol.

Is there a reason they don't/can't make 1911's break down as easy as most other pistol designs? I would think a manufacturer could make a pistol that looked the same as a 1911 but was easier to take down.

  • @whitey211 I agree.. it's a lot for a pistol, not a lot for a quality 1911 design. They are complex firearms and thus can be complex to disassemble. I can think of at least one manufacturer that's does some good work with a similar design and safety features but a lot easier to break down. That's the XD line with thumb safeties. If I get time to actually start making videos again I hope to review that design soon.

  • yea I actually own an XDm in 9mm. Decent gun and all but I just love the looks of a 1911. I wish I had the money to spend on one.

  • The only safety you have to "think about" in a panic situation, is the thumb safety. With training, I doubt it would be a problem. Since it is included for safety when carrying cocked with a round in the pipe, you don't HAVE to use it.

  • Thats your opinion. Yes you have to remeber to kick the safety off in any single action only pistol but they have there place in a ccw role. I really do not like the feel of a glock but love the sig.

  • I agree with you IF you keep the thumb safety on when you carry. If you don't then it will have one safety (grip safety) just like the Glock (trigger safety). Like frei1furimmer said, it's optional.

  • Do all of the Kimber 1911 "Carry" guns need a special tool?

  • yes because it is a bushingless disign but you still need or should use a a special tool for 1911's with a barrel bushing. A barrel bushing wrench.

  • @outkasst88 just the three inch. a guide rod is necessary for the three inch and you need the special tool to keep the dual guide rod spring from rocketing when disassembled.

There has been little evidence shown if a combat or government 1911 slide benefits from a full length guide rod. I'm a purist and feel that if john browning wanted a full length guide rod, he'd designed one into it.

  • When carrying a gun for protection, chances are youre going to practice religiously w/ that firearm. If you arent practicing, you might as well not carry it... This also means practicing drawing/firing/disengaging safeties and whatnot. In regards to the design of the 1991, you WANT a few safeties. Some pistol designs dont require them. However, I guarantee no pistol has had the service life of the 1911, and no pistol is in such current use as the 1911 either.

    Safeties arent a bother...

  • 1240????? R U F KNGME

  • you talk a bit girly, but excelent review!!!!!

  • I bet his voice makes your dick hard. Homo.

  • why is every dealer I go to bad mouthing kimbers lately and pushing the sig and springfield 1911, although non of them make a comparable one to the ultra and the pro. they keep telling me the quality is horrible and I will regret buying one. are any of competitors paying the dealers to do so, is there a larger profit margin? I have a pro and a raptor series 1 and love both, now want to get an ultra any help will be appreciated

  • Commisions most likely. Kimber is top shelf. That Springfield is top shelf too.

  • if they are telling you that Kimber is garbage I wouldn't listen to them anymore.

  • I wonder what the author thinks of the Para Warthog.

  • HIGH accolades for your video! I bought a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II & used BOTH your videos to break down & clean it. As others I too had a little trouble re-engaging the slide lock. If you dont mind Id like to respectfully offer a little insight for those who may have made the same mistake as I. You say to use a "downward & sideway" push to get it in. The downward part confused me. From my perspective using an upward angle push easily popped it in. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom!

  • recoil isn't bad..unless you're a pussy. It's very nice, and really comfortable despite it's size. Very good gun.

  • Hows the recoil? I love kimber, great weapons. I personally carry a XD .45 ACP 4" 13+1.

  • damn I love that gun

  • dam now thats a gun

  • Kimbers are true works of art. I just don't care for grip safeties.

  • god its small

  • that gun is beautiful

  • You can take it down with-out the tool.

  • Comment removed

  • Outstanding review! I own a Kimber Ultra carry, and LOVE it. The only thing you didn't mention, is the magazine brand you had, which is Wilson Combat. Go out and buy Wilson Combat 7 and 8 round magazines, designed for the compact 1911s. Throw the included magazine in a box. Make absolutely certain it is the right magazine for the short barrel version.

  • Thanks! I might have mentioned it in one of my other videos, but you're absolutely right. The included mag is crap, I think half the issues people have with these is due to the mag that comes with it. I like the Wilson mags and even the pro mags from kimber are pretty nice.

  • Great review. How much did that Kimber run you? You should check out my video called 'First Time Kimber'. Its me shooting my Kimber for the first time. Very accurate, very reliable. I love these Kimbers.

  • could you put like a 16 round para ordnance mag in it or other kimber 1911s? it's just i like the idea of having that many rounds, but i want the quility of kimber or colt. so shouldn't it work if; they are both 1911s after all

  • If you're ok with the mag sticking out the bottom of the firearm any 1911 mag should work. Might take away the point of getting such a small firearm, but it's personal preference.

  • i was thinking on a larger sized 1911 and was thinking para because from what i under stand the quaility is good and the mag caps. on some are high. but then i got a idea knowing kimber is top of the line i thought i could put a para mag in it, getting the mag cap of a para and all the quality of a kimber.

  • This is very important: Para-Ordnance high capacity magazines are double-stack mags and WILL NOT fit into the single-stack magazine wells of Kimber 1911 pistols.

Double-stack magazines stack bullets side-by-side in the magazine body, allowing them to carry more rounds for a given magazine length, but making the width of the magazine body much fatter. If you can find a high-cap single stack 1911 mag, it will fit into a Kimber mag well and just stick out way past the grip :)

    Hope this helps!

  • ok thanks man

  • COLT DEFENDER

  • Very informative video. Great info. Can you give me your opinion on a Springfield compared to a Kimber? Thanks

  • I cant get past the 1000+ price tag. Or the poor capacity.

  • and if you cant get the job done with 7 (or 8) rounds of .45 acp you shouldnt be carrying at all

  • If you cant get the job done with a .22 pistol with two rounds you don't need to carry in my opinion. Concealed carry doesn't mean your going to take on a army. Unless your using a gun as your patrol carry. Then obviously 9mm is as low you can go.

  • He did the review in exactly the model kimber i wanted to buy. I think i will still get it. The assembly question was what was alluding me. I am a big fan of 1911.

But i think carrying a full size or pro carry 1911 (especially like a conceal firearm) is too much. This is the next logical choice

  • yea, a full sized 1911 would be extremely difficult to conceal but if you could manage it would have a heavy intimidation factor

  • Failure to Feed? FUCK THAT NOISE.

I'll stick with Sig and HK........

  • Excellent! However, at 8:20, you have the muzzle facing you. I know its empty, but still don't point a gun at yourself, because eventually you will unconsciously do it with a loaded weapon!

  • There's a reason this video has 5 out of 5 stars as an average rating... excellent video man.

  • He may cover this in another video, but you do not need the tool to break this gun down. It does make it easier to RE-assemble though... I use a paper clip - I lost the tool long ago.

  • Great video, very professionally presented and nice info!

  • The 500 round breakin period is bad news...but the take down tool is a deal breaker!!! My SigSauer P239 357sig drives nails right out of the box and no breakin or funky tool required.....

  • NO NEED FOR THAT BREAK IN TOOL. Mine shoots bulls eye right out of the box and I can field strip it with out that tool. That tools for pussies.

  • You obviously do not own a 1911 or atleast a quality one. I broke in my 4" 1911 and it is the most accurate rifle oops handgun I have ever shot.

  • Excellent video, and I could not agree more with your review. Overall, I love the Kimber Ultra Carry. But I certainly wish that Kimber would improve the takedown process.

  • Great video. I just subscribed to your channel. Going to pick up my Kimber Ultra today. Thanks for your videos.

  • I'm looking at getting my first handgun in the next few months, and due to employment, wish to carry concealed.

I've looked at the Ultra Carry and like what I see, but I am lefthanded. How well will this weapon work for me?

  • Well that depends on how familiar you are with right handed 1911s. The ultra carry has a right handed only thumb safety and magazine release. If you can work this safely and effectively with your left hand then it would work fine for you, but you might want to invest in converting the safety and mag release to left hand or ambi configurations (not difficult). The best is to actually go to a gun store and pick one up, try to manipulate all the features and see how it feels to you.

  • should i buy this gun for $825.00 for concealed carry

  • Thank you for a great video.

  • I really like this gun but not the price...Can you suggest a simular gun (.45 short barrel) for less money? Looking for something like this one to carry, thanks, Great video!

  • Thanks for taking the time. I just entered a raffle for one of these. Wish me luck!

Also, nutnfancy has nothing on you.

  • Goodluck! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
