a pretty fair analysis, but i would disagree with some of it. Obama is very duboisian, but i dont think it will amount to much. i think people are getting their hopes up, and setting themselves up for a big disappointment. republicans didi the same thing in 2000. they thought bush really meant what he said. obama has made a lot of promises that he wont be able to keep. they are simply unachievable in a charged partisan environment like washington.

Is he truly uppity or is he simply "playing the game" to get elected? It's all game, just a different court. Everything from the handshakes to kissing babies and signing autographs. It's just unfortunate for him that his conversation with a group he was speaking to (in such a manner to connect with them and get their support) was recorded and blown out of proportion but again, it's all just a part of the game. ;-)

the flaw in your argument is that it only takes one dynamic of a very complex individual into consideration. Actually what you said here is true of any politician DEM or GOP - they speak about your problems and then they offer solutions. Not sure why you had to take so long to say something so simple.

But what i want to know from you is do you hold Dick Cheney in high regard as a leader? Do you think his clear lack of empathy has been good for this country?Should Politicians have less empathy?
