  • Hey, anyone know what this pedal is worth? I have a mint one, but no real use for it and want to sell it. It's a spectacular pedal, from what I have seen/heard.

  • i love the song man.. cant find it any where on youtube or myspace tho.. please upload it

  • great sounds

  • this reminds me of between my friend billy and abr <3 u gotta amazing style to you

  • i could get lost in this riff. awe inspiring

  • what a fantastic riff.

  • I really enjoy watching you dude, you've got a fan in Mexico

  • chupala puto

  • That slow phase with the reverb is really awesome!

  • I hear sounds unborn chicken voices in my head. is that a good sign?

  • nice radiohead poster :D

    and nice playing as well!

  • where does the shimmering come from? is it the RV-5? or the DL4?

  • Abit of both to be honest. Its probably coming mostly from the RV-5 on the modulation setting.

  • @craigmcarthur1 thx for the answer. another question.. do you remember the effects chain of your video?

  • DD-3 -> PH-3 -> DL4 -> RV-5 I think

  • that actually sounds pretty damn good, wish i could hear it in person cause i know it would be 10 times better... keep jammin.

  • No videos, no opinion. My spanish is poor, however I refrain from leaving stupid comments in spanish on others videos.

  • remember the RV-5 and delay settings at all?

  • Not really to be honest dude. how are things?

  • @craigmcarthur1

Aw well, i watched a demo video on it, and it has some rather intresting harmonized delay and tap "rhythem" delays.

I finaly figured out how to use my cubase recording software!!! =)

So i will be uploading recordings if i can today.

  • Cool, look forward to hearing them

  • how to play this riff =) ? please TAB

  • Afraid not dude, I dont have any tabs for it. Its fairly easy to play however just work it out

  • yhym ok....

  • @craigmcarthur1 you should buy a gibson es-333 / 335

they're great with effects, especially delays and reverbs. les paul's not so good.

also so many peopl eask for your tabs, don't you think you could tab them out for them if it gets asked enough?

your stuff is heaps good btw

  • I use a PRS Singlecut as my main guitar, I like the sound from it. Using a 335 would be problematic as within one song of my band I go from my fairly heavy down tuned 7 string stuff to spacey cleans. So although the 335 would be great for the clean tones it wouldnt cut it for the heavy stuff. Hence the PRS

  • @craigmcarthur1 hmm k. you'd probably be surprised how heavy it could go if you put a different pick up in it. like the dirty fingers or something. it'd be pretty sick. that being said PRS's are insane

  • Friend of Radiohead is friend of mine :)

Nice sounds btw. Don't have the memory man? Is really great.

  • I like the Memory man, but I already have 3 delay pedals, thought I should stop somewhere!

  • I LOVE THAT RIFF!

  • hey bro, are all of your reverbs, delays, and chorus in the effects loop of your amp?

  • Yup always

  • so the only thing in front of your amp is your overdrives? and how do u run pedals in your effects loop if you r running your pedals thru the gig rig pro14?

  • I run my volume pedal, wahs, whammy pedal, overdrives, compressor, moogerfooger phaser and boost pedals thru the front of my mesa boogie head and my hiwatt via the pro 14. You use one of the pro 14 loops for fx loop use.Guitar->pro 14 input. pro 14 send->amp input. amp send->pro 14 return. pro 14 output-> amp return.

This setup allows u to drop pedals in & out the signal chain in front of the amp & the effetcs loop. it also allows some cool mix n match i.e hiwatt pre amp into mesa boogie power amp

  • damn this sounds really great

  • You have an amazing tone, and I especially love how your guitar sounds in this video. I ordered a PH-3 a few days ago and I'm pumped to get it, where do you have it in your signal chain?

  • Thanks for the kind words. I generally have phasers in the effects loop of my amp near the end of the chain. In reverse order, Reverb,Delay, Phaser, Flanger, Tremolo, Chorus etc. Its also personal taste, but reverb always last, delay always second last, generally phaser near the end. Always in the fx loop tho

  • Alright, thanks man, thats basically my setup, but I've never used the effects loop though, do you run all your pedals in the loop?

  • Nop only time and modulation style effetcs i.e reverb, delay, chorus, tremolo, phase, flangers etc. I run my whammy, wahs, volume, overdrive and boost pedals into the front of he amp

  • Oh, alright, thanks for clearing that up.

  • thanks for the tip.. I get quite a nice tone but not that shimmering (almost string like) sound you got. :/

  • does this shimmering, dream kind sound in the background come from the mod. reverb?

id really like to know how to create that shimmering sounds. do you think it might be possible to get such sound on the boss gt-10? (or in generall on the gt-family?).

  • Try moving a chorus after the reverb in the fx order on the gt10

  • what a beautiful chord progression

    please send me the tabs?

  • yes nice poster

  • Can you please send me the chords for this, i would really appreciate it , this literally is one of the most emotionally driven chord progressions that ive ever heard and i would love to be able to play it as well. -Many thanks

  • I would like to have the tabs for this too! PLEASE!

    ~Thank you

  • I love how everyone comments for about the Ok computer poster more than the actual music in most of your videos. Anywho, great riff. I'll probably get around to figuring this one out eventually.

  • It is a nice poster to be fair lol! Look forward to hearing it

  • You have the Seymour Duncan SH-2n Jazz Model Pickup, right?

  • Nop 59 and a JB

  • Gomez rules! (old Gomez, not the new crap)

  • you are wicked wicked good

  • Wow! Ok Computer !

  • bad ass luv the sound got to me some more gear

  • yeahhh!!

  • Nice, but you haven't lived until you've put 2 DD3's in series, in a poly rhythm! the only digital delays that re-sample, making a third amazing poly rhythmic rhythm ride. Simply astounding.

  • wow you make like the best reviews of pedals and amps. you really can make a career in music making all these effects. you can make some really nice music using these pedals and stuff. GREAT JOB

  • i love the radiohead influence... so awesome

  • You play well and rise high above the average level of the YouTube gear videos :-)

  • Thank you

  • Craig, I've been looking at a decent Phaser pedal. Any recommendations? I realy like the sound you get out of the PH-3 - it's very digital and apparent but it seems to lie in the mix very well.

  • I have 3 on my board. The PH-3 is versatile in its range of tones, but is very digital as you said, but I liek that. I also have a Moog Moogerfooger analog phaser which is cool for more natural organic and vitage vibes. I have a TC Electronic Nova Modulator aswell which has a great phaser. Other than that I have played the two MXR phasers the EVH and the original phase 90, bot quite cool with great sounds but less versatile. I have played a few others, I will reply to your email about those

  • That would be cool! Versatility is a must though!

  • I own a EHX Small Stone Phaser, Analog and true bypass. I also highly recommend that pedal. Its probably my most used effect (other than distortion but some don't even consider that an effect anymore, but my delay pedal is up there) and I love it.

  • I see! A Small Stone .. good point. It's well-known, not without any reason, of course. Perhaps I'll check it out some time!

  • Nice demo of Fx-mixing this is. Really like the dry sound of your lp and flex. What Sd-pups are in the guitar? JB and 59? Changed anything else in it? Pots etc.? Great tone.

  • Yup JB and 59. Had it re-fretted, replaced allthe pots, toggle switch and had it rewired. Jack replaced with higher quality componet. Sounds much better for it.

Also removed the scratch plate, added a chrome jack plate, better machine heads and locking strap locks.

  • Bloody hell. Did you do yourself or d'you have a reeeeaaally handy guitar tech around who you trust with your life? :P

  • Yeh I wish I could do all that on my own!! Gary my bandmate is very handy in this area but even he wouldnt attempt a re-fret (yet). The guitar tech at my local store Guitarguitar is great he done most of the work

  • Man...I'm just drifting away with this tune...Well done man..!

  • Thanks for the kind words. There is a link in the video description to the whole band playing this song. This section sounds excellent in the full song with myself and the other 2 guitarists playing. Cheers

  • my hat goes off to you for this one

  • Wow...that sounds nice.

  • hey, would you be able to send me that email explaining pedal orders and loops...thanks

  • Did I ever send that email? Not sure if i did. If I didnt send me an email to remind to do so. Not on my own PC or I would hav sent it now! Cheers

  • hey, yeah,i think you forgot but dont worry about it,i would greatly appreaciate it if yuo send it to me...thanks

  • No probs, next time I am home on my own PC Ill send it over to you! Cheers

  • do u need an original boss adaptor or special power supply to support the different effects pedal brand?

  • It depends dude, alot of the manaufacturers use the same 9V DC Negative centre supply as Boss. Other companies do not, and will use 12V 15V DC and AC or positive centre or a different connection type.

I would recommend the gigrig website. They make excellent supplies if you have a baord that consists of a few different brands. Look into their Power Generator,Power Distributor and the Virtual Batteries.

  • I like your music man.

One question about this video, ¿What is the order for the effect? I read the video description and I know the pedals you use but I have a doubt about its order Is reverb before delay or after delays?

    Keep on rocking VF

  • Hey man. Always have the reverb after the delay, sounds much better. Heres the order for this video. I have also sent you a detailed email explaining pedal orders and fx's loops.

    PH-3 -> DD-3 -> DL4 -> RV-5

  • get ready for another cover video lol

  • Fuckin' hell man!!! this sound takes me to another dimension!!! You really got style!!! Pretty Radiohead's OK Computer poster too.

  • fitter happier poster nice

  • Quick question: how long have you been playing the guitar and what was your first ever electric brand?

  • about 7 years roughly. Learned on an acoustic first. First electric was a Squier Strat my borthers friend gave me. My first electric of my own, was the guitar I am playing in this vid. Its been modified quite abit since I bought it tho.

  • so you have two delays goin at once?

"Boss RV-5 Reverb set to modulate mode + Boss DD-3 Delay pedal set to a short delay + Line 6DL4 set to a very short tube echo."

  • Yup, two delays goin, thats right. I quite like analog, tube and tape style delays and echos on my clean channel to fatten the sound with a lo fi style sound.

But I then like having a more sterile digital delay ontop to fill the sound more and give a rhtyhmic delay bounce on each note thats played. I use two and three delays at once a fair bit.

  • Gimme some of that you playing there? tabs=)? I love music like this:) TABS=D

  • Sorry no tabs as of yet dude. You can check out the whole song tho if you follow the link in the video description. Cheers

  • Sounds really good, very similar in style of many post-rock bands (later Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, etc). Keep it up.

  • omg you have no clue how awsome it would have been if you started to play and awsome guitar solo but i love the whole thing it sounds like a intro to an awsome song your really awsome

  • do you get any volume loss with the 4-stage mode on the ph-3?

  • Yup. Most phaser ill give u a degreeof volume loss as they literally filter ur guitar signal in order to produce the phaser signal. S unless u buy one with drive feature like my Moogerfooger 12 stage aalog phaser thn u will always experience a volume drop. I compensate using my gigrig pro 14 switching system which has a class a ampbuilt in that allowsme to ater the volume of any pedal in my signal path

  • word.. dude i saw Radiohead this past Friday and again on Sunday. My hands still hurt from clapping so hard during 15 Step. Such a sick live show it can't even be put into words..

  • Cool, I have seen them on every tour since the bends! They are coming to Glasgow next month, cant wait!

  • very nice playing and sound

it sounds like this song is

going to a sad song or

a song for a video game

or a song for the army

  • Thanks man, I understood your comment just fine...your english is perfect. Thanks for the kind words about my band.

  • GREAT PLAYING AND SOUND!

Couldn't agree more regarding the conversation below. I'm just beginning to explore fx pedals or, more importantly, the sounds I may like. Whatever I end up using to get there is legitimate as long as I like the sound of it... Thanks to both of you for your clarity of thought.

One question though...why are you not a fan of EHX pedals? (Wondering if there is an objective reason for this or perhaps a matter of taste which is just as legitimate.)

  • Thanks for the comment dude.

EHX Pedals....well I need alot of pedals for my live sound, and EHX pedals are all massive!!! So my board would be the size of a small country if they were all EHX. Of the pedals I have used I thought they were noisey when engaged, sounded slightly thin, and sucked tone away from my valve amps. So its a slightly objective response based on a personal opinion haha!

I am strting replace pedals on my board with higher boutiquey stuff like Fulltone, TREX, TC etc

  • Thanks for the reply! Personal views are often subjective but that's not to say they're not correct or valid. But they can also be objective, just like you're displaying because I think everything you're saying is valid and I'm also grateful that you've told me the reasons why.

I wish boutique pedals weren't so expensive! It's half prohibitive for most folks to get them. But if they weren't, they wouldn't have expensive and high quality components in them. Thanks again CM!

  • do u have a memory man

  • Nop afraid not. NOt a fan of EHX pedals dude

  • Dude, nice playing, but this song is SCREAMING for a Memory Man! Best delay (that most people can/will afford) in the universe.

  • Not big fan of the Memory man dude. I like my three dleay pedals Boss DD-3 for short delays on my cleans. Line6 DL4 for atmospheric delays and my TC Electronic Nova delay for everything else.

  • Well, regardless of our difference in opinion, it sounds great and I like the song a lot. I guess that's what really matters, right?

  • Here here. Couldnt agree more dude. People are forever arguing with me on youtube about my opinions on gear and the one thing I always try to get across is that all this guitar tone stuff is hugely subjective. Its all a matter of opinion. The vids I have uploaded r there soloey to let people hear the various pedals I owe before the buy something themselves, not to promote opinions or dis other gear.

So thanks for the kind words about the song and your refrshingly intelligent comments.

  • "Refreshingly intelligent" is quite the compliment! Thank you! And you're definitely right about the "gear wars", people have gotten so far removed from the real reason why we play music and have chosen to instead focus on whether or not the pedal, guitar, or amp that they feel defines them as a person is at their local "Guitar Center". I'm glad to see someone out there who's really doing cool and creative stuff without pretense who's willing to share his tone secrets. Thanks again!

  • I really love that RV-5 modulate mode. I'm not sure why more people don't use it. I'd buy it if we weren't in the same band!

  • Glad you like the band dude. Seymours - Neck: '58

    Bridge: JB Model

    * Your English is perfect

  • what's the difference between 4 stage, 8 stage, and 12 stage phaser?

  • it almost made me weep. lol.

    fantastic.

  • beautiful...just beautiful

  • Truely awsome. This is amongst the best riffs I've heard.

  • Cheers man, there is a link to a rough rehearsal vid of the whole song by my band.

  • Dude. The sound of this riff is absoslutely fantastic and being a fellow effect-nerd I absolutely drule on this and how you combine the effects. Phat!

  • dude its awsome (tears up) a master peice, it sound so far away and alone

  • I also have the PH3, it's great!

  • i like the sound, the tune, the way you play. Thanx for video :)

  • hey man have you put up tabs anywhere for this yet? sounds cool

  • Frai not dude, u can hear the full track on my bands myspace tho.

  • send me some tabs my man great song peace

  • why do you use two delays(boss dd3 and line6 dl4)??what do you think about the line6 delay?

  • I use alot more than those dude. I quite like using a short delay like a tube echo style delay infornt of a longer delay in my chain.

  • cool...you're so good in creating "atmospheres"...

  • Thanks for the kind words dude. As a band we do alot of effects laiden atmospheric stuff, sounds cool when the three of us are doing it.

  • have you played the rc2

  • I have had a quick go of an RC-2 in my local shop dude, its quite a cool pedal. I use my DL4 on its loop setting on one of our tracks called 'Never Run With Scissors' when doing live shows, quite a handy function.

  • so what do you think of the new Radiohead album bro? i love it.

  • Its amazing!!!! Sounds different as always, but really getting into it. Cant wait to see them again in the summer, seen every tour since Ok Computer, was too young for the Bends and Pablo Honey tours despite loving the albums at the time!!! There is a cool vid of them playing the whole album in a rehearsal studio online, its called scotch mist, check it out!

  • so you're over in Europe.. you should check out one of my favorite bands if you've never heard of them. They're called Sound Tribe Sector 9.

  • I will do dude, thanks. Check out one of my fav bands: Oceansize, they r awesome.

  • that is beautiful man, especially when the phase kicks in, sweet stuff

  • Hey! Great Vid. What do you think about Digitech effects? (specifically Digidelay) I haven't seen you use any in your vids so i was just wondering. Thanks!

  • Mmmm I have played one or two. They seem similar to Boss in build quality and such, but the few that I tried were quite noisey so I havent really bothered with them since dude. I recommend going into ur sho and playing around with the different companies to see which u prefer.

  • Dont just stick to one company. Although a chunk of my board is Boss, its nt through loyality but due to the fact that whicherver pedal of theres I bought I thought at the time was the best vaue for monEy, build uality, sound etc

  • Thanks dude! Preciate it!

  • That is really cool playing.... good use of reverb

  • For Rythmic chuggah-chuggha sounding delay, similar to that of U2, would you reccomend a deluxe memory man or a DL4.

    Keep It Up.

  • I get that tone from my DD-3, but if your looking for true U2 sounding stuff u need two amps, or a stereo setup so I would recommend the DL4 for that dude, should be able to nail his tones with that. I have two other called rhythmic delay that use similiar chuggy delays that ur talkin about.

  • the sounds you create is very familiar to that of bloc party.

  • Thank you friend! DIME PLEASE "LINE 6 DL4 CAN USE YOUR TIME IN THE ECO ECO MY AMPLIFIER FOR THE REVERB MY amplifier?

OR HAVE SOMETHING OF THE ECHOES OF 'LINE 6 DL4?

SPACE AS AN ECHO BY ROLAND?

  • Hey dude, your English is great, but I am not sure exactly what ur asking?

  • dude even i dont get what he's saying

  • 0:52 0:52 0:52 0:52 !!!!! It is beautiful! Really hermozo that sound I love using delay dd- 3? And Rv-5 together? Using wha wha?

Please tell me that you run on the pedals minutes 0:52 that it is necessary for me to buy it.

  • At 0.52 I have a Boss DD-3 digital delay on a short delay + Boss RV-5 + Boss PH-3 set to 12 stage phaser + Line 6 DL4 set to a very short tube echo! Hope this helps dude!

  • Hi! Which pedal you use around 0:32 reverb or delay, maybe both? By the way awsome tone, keep good work on!

  • Both dude, dude, short tube delay with reverb. I then add i phaser on top at like 0.50

  • all im gonna say is dude the music idustry needs people like u in it ur music is amazing right up alley love ur shit bro

  • Thanks for the kind words dude, much appreciated

  • np dude i wish i could afford ur gear im a struggling musician and shit low on cash lol im looking for a nice les paul butthe nicest one i found is 1200

  • Gutted man! Just hang in there, took me years to buy all my stuff! Bought a whoel chunck of my gear from gig money playing at weddings and stuff! Playing aint all about gear, but I feel your pain!

  • im so gonna play some wedding show up with my metal band lol hah ah ah ah

  • Haha that would be funny! I play in other bands to fund the prog band man! You should get urself a wedding band together, its amazing getting paid alot of cash for plying guitar!

  • thats not a bad idea but dude im a metal head tht would be so un metal lol

  • Hey man, yeh tone suckage is major problem if I hook everything upto my Mesa! I use a Gig Rig Pro 14 to control all my pedals so only a few are ever in my signal path = awesome tone at all times without tone suck! Check it out

  • ...excellent tone, great work!...

  • The switch at the phaser sounds awesome craig.

Do you actually play using it when we played it before in the studio?

    Gaz

  • Nop, thats a new addition Gaz!

  • Whats this "Gaz" nonsense?

Where are the usual insults? I am disappointed in you slagface.

    There, now i feel better.

    Slagface.

  • Your vids are very impressive. Nice collection of effects. orks out for a killer tone.

  • nice playing
