@GreenPencil305, that's probably because you don't know the language, and not knowing something can make you uncomfortable and feel inadequate. You're probably used to knowing things. You might also have prejudices that you are not even aware of, that would be eliminated if you took the time to learn about deaf people. It is discriminating if you are aware of these feelings but do NOTHING to change them or educate yourself.
@GreenPencil305, it seemed to me like you were asking a general, open question to the public, because you wrote "probably someone who can hear," about the person who made this video, as if you were not addressing her. So my conclusion was that you were asking for a response from others who might read your question. Calling me a bitch because I answered your question is immature. Don't ask questions in a public forum if you do not want them answered in a public forum. Send a private message.
@GreenPencil305, not wanting to be friends with any group of people belonging to a cultural or ethnic group is bad because it shows that you refuse to see people as individual human beings worth the time taking the time to get to know. You are allowing your prejudices about a group of people guide you. This is like being racist, sexist, or homophobic and it is wrong and dehumanizing. So yes, I would say that's bad.
@Banerika OK, first of all, who asked you, bitch? And second of all, I don't think I can help but to be uncomfortable around the deaf because it's probably part of my autism.
Probably someone who can hear.
Look, I don't mean to be discriminative, rude, or unfriendly, but I just don't feel comfortable around the deaf.

Is not wanting to be friends with deaf people bad?
GreenPencil305 3 years ago
If that is the only reason, who would want to your friend?
