Regarding the habit, I can understand your sentiment. It needs also to be practical for the particular work a group of Sisters does. Our Community used to do everything, including washing floors, in the full, long-style habit. I can't imagine how they'd look after very long. Historically, when religious life first developed, the habit really was the style every woman wore. Lay styles evolved, but religious styles not
I've definitely thought about being a nun, but I need a proper, prim habit: crisp white blouse, ankle length black skirt, and rosary beads gleaming. Never understood why a nun would want to look like a golf instructor.
