SICK playing! I'm trying to decide between a fretless or fretted Carvin, do you notice any lack of "bass" with your fretless? As in, does it still growl and kick ass in the low tones?
@turoniner my fretless has a very extreme low end.....this one is set up with a mid control and the bottom is awesome.....but the difference in sound is very marked....actually the fretless even slaps great, but, the frets give the sound a lot more percussion and high end......this fretless also has the HAN finish on the fret board which makes a big difference in tone and playability......either bass is a great choice...
I stand corrected. Boy, is my face "red". I'm sorry. I guess I was listening and watching your hands too intently to see that you had the mid control. It's just that I have an SB5000F as well w/ the standard V/V/T/t/b control and I get that same type of tone w/ my passive tone rolled back a bit. When I use more of the passive tone control, the bass really starts "singing", for lack of a better term.
Very nice fretless finger style at the end! Sounds like you had your passive tone rolled back a little on that take ( not that it sounded bad, just an observation).
@DangableQ ......good observation!!......this is a different SB....this is my fretless......and it has the active mid-range ....not the passive tone control.....
Is that a Mogami cable?
