@zepps88 I agree with stricter regulations, but that will not likely happen without a boycott. Once the companies realize commercial GM crops are not making them a profit due to a boycott it will force the biotech companies to apply more restrictions and do more research to try to convince the public they are trying to be responsible.
boycotting GMO's isn't the answer. biotechnology could prove to be very useful in the future. major restrictions on the production of GMO's should be put in place until this technology is more developed.

Do you guys want GMOs banned? Are those evil capitalists flooding the market with cheap GMO food? Only the poor people can eat GMO food, right? The bourgeois eat clean non GMO food? If you dig deep into what your saying, it sounds like Marxist hogwash. Now, before we can determine what is wrong, we must see how it can be right. I understand what you guys think is wrong, now tell me how you can make it right.
What could make things right is more people being self reliant and paying more attention. I don't advocate government to take care of us. I'm a Rothbardian anarcho-capitalist. The free market would provide better alternatives to the FDA in the long run.
The ambiguity of the phrase "self reliance" can make you sound like a Marxist. I would drop using it; anyway what gives you the idead that I'm arguing for the FDA? I'm arguing that GMO's have done some good.
What good have they done? Everything I have read about this says that in the long run we are gonna have SUPER problems. Like gm corn, its pollen turns non gm corn into gm corn then, monsanto goes in a sues the farm for replanting seed when they never bought monsanto products to begin with. Look up on google video "the world according to monsanto"
well they own 90% of them. Thats what I thought I read somewhere. And given their history as a company, they really are our worst nightmare to own patents on the food we eat.
I'm arguing that the existence of genetically modified food should be left to various competing firms and farmers to increase output of their farms. Monsanto is a neo-mercantilistic behemoth thats power needs to be abolished. Slightly off topic, but whoever are downrating my comments please stop. I rather have a good discussion, I admit that I got a little petulant some posts, but I think some of you were too with the shouting that all GMO's are bad. I was just trying to guess your implications.
"The ambiguity of the phrase "self reliance" can make you sound like a Marxist."
I can't help but look at this statement and be totally bewildered why anyone would ever say that. Marxism is a collectivist philosophy a anti-self reliance philosophy in every sense. Who the hell associates the phrase "self reliance" with Marxism..
I say this because of the implications they give out with their LTV. If the workers are "exploited" because the capitalist doesn't pay them for their total value. When you think of the implications of this, how would you apply it to assembly lines? How would the modern economy work with its complex capital structure with many stages? Nobody reaps the total value of their product, because all the(almost all at least) products go through various stages.
Least us NOT forget the "NANO-world"... After the introduction of nanotechnology, in the light of "the gray goo" there was a flood of questions regarding the safety of nanotechnology - plenty of questions - but few anwers where given nor are they being heard now.....(???)
Yes yes all true you better believe it, also the Hormones they pump in live stock to make them grow faster and produce more meet and the Radiation dust in our air produce all these symptoms you discuss here. You will also find the topic is government secrecy and Taboo. Pointless to fight against and make our case. Some American foods are even illegal in other countries, this is no joke.
Shit will kill you. That simple. Eat it if you want. But now you know. No market for it and the farmers will stop planting it or get paid not to plant anything from the government. Local market places are going up everywhere and are huge hits with the local populations. Find one near you.
You guys are a group of food marxists. It's quite easy to complain about our food when you have so much of it, but people in third world countries don't. I'm appalled that you guys actually consider yourselves "liberatarians," or for "liberty." Do you want GMO(you changed it for the original GE) banned from the market? Ask yourselves this, " Before we find out what's wrong, we must find out how it could be right." That's what I see with you food hypocrites.
Don't blindly trust that the GMO foods are safe. It is tinkering with nature. One of the problems (yeah, one of) that I have with this tech is the Terminator gene. All through history farmers have been able to save seeds from the previous year to plant. In many third world nations this is still done. I don't think any company should have the 'right' to endanger the food supply, or modify it to the detriment of traditional ways. I don't trust it.
The main issue is that the companies receive subsidies and utilize the government to push out competition. There is nothing libertarian about that and due to those actions they have an enhanced presence in the market. Unfortunately that usually plays second fiddle to the potential risks of GMOs, which regardless of what the truth is... the market should be allowed to work it out without intervention.
I may have come in to your convo at the wrong time but it sounded like you believe we as Americans should give a rats ass about people on the other side of the world who by the way are NOT Americans when we have enough problems in our own country.
Screw the third world.....I'll cry for them when they become part of America. When I see the American flag flying over their capitals and notice a few more stars on The American flag.....Then I'll concern myself with their plight.
Quote me where I said cry for the third world, and no it wasn't an implicit thought just to clear that up. I'm just saying that those third world countries have starving people due to an inadequate food supply thanks to their government's agricultural polices(subsidies, protectionism, etc.), banning pesticides, and in the case of Zambia; blocking all "GMOs"(GE) to come into their country. You can thank moronic organizations like Greenpeace for that.
Go learn about what happened to Zambia. The Indian farmer suicides were due to the those farmers being into unpayable debt because their crop wasn't growing. This is from a 2004 article from the NYT: "With small landholdings, constrained markets for their products, and an overdependence on subsidies for power and fertilizer, India's farmers were ill equipped to compete when the national government undertook economic reforms in 1991." Now watch the video that I gave in my previous post.
Michael Taylor is a piece of trash. It says a lot about President Obama when he appointed him Food Czar. He is as corrupt as most of the presidents before him.
don't worry people, pretty soon hr bill 2749 will pass and growing your own vegetables and organic vegetables will be illegal. we will have to buy GMO veggies which will be really good for us! thank your politicians in congress for that one! doesn't it give you a warm feeling inside that our politicians care so much about us and are thinking every day on how they can fuck the american people over?
GMO crops AKA "Frankenfoods" could potentially alter life on earth as we know it.
A few years ago it was found that pollen from a GMO corn crop is toxic to small insects. What if the next one is toxic to humans?
There's no way we could be able to understand all the possible consequences of mixing animal genes with plant genes. Those mad scientists who are playing god and creating new kinds of plants could really do a lot of damage if they aren't careful!!!
If you REALLY want to get pissed at the FDA, watch 'Sweet Misery' by Cori Brackett. Those assholes approved Aspartame knowing that the shit could kill us. That was nearly 30 years ago.
your gorgeous and smart- quite rare nowadays on youtube- considering Obama Girl just has big tits but no brain and she has millions of views...kinda says alot about our nation.
I've heard and read enough about GMO's and wondered where my unusual illness derives. They don't have a diagnosis and it does appear to be food related. With the numbers you report being significant, it 's time for me to go totally organic. Thank you.
Cut out refined sugar and salts, High Fructose Corn Syrup and all hydrogenated oils as much as you can. It helped my sinusitis immensely. I used to get blinding headaches really often and changing my diet helped a lot.
Probably a TON but I drink too much alcohol. If I stopped that and got enough sleep I'd probably be a triathlete!
Thank you for the response. Sinusitis is a major symptom, yet not the only problem. Only sometimes is food a problem, yet during other periods, perhaps weeks at a time, regardless of type, whether the food contains refined sugars or not, there are no symptoms. However, cutting out refined sugars should be the first thing, then the rest of your list. It could only help.
Let not forget about HIGH FRUITOS CORN SURPE. the people are consumeing 90% of it everyday. Carb, suger and starch is the only form of energy from CORN. which is also found in other food. Corn has no value to the human bio-system.
One hopes your first language isn't Engrish, but I agree on HFCS. It's garbage. I've weaned myself (almost) completely off of HFCS and now it literally makes me ill to consume it.
Partially hydrogenated oils too. That crap ain't real food.
Also invest in omega 3 oil. NOT fish oil (Chinese Junk). Its showed (new England journal) to prevent many form of cancer. Vegetarian are more likely to gain form of cancer since the red blood cell does not omega 3 oil for oxygen transfer with-in the red blood cell.
English is teach in school to pure dummies with a brainwash mentality. Great english ,No success. the banker way of life. I speak, language is a form of discrimination
There is a certain number code in the sticker that's attached to fresh goods in the supermarket. If it starts with 9, it's organic.
Anything processed is probably GMO and all sugar is now being produced by GMO cane and beets. I think the last of the nongmo sugar is in the grocery stores right now but soon it will all be GMO.
I do most of my shopping at an organic co-op. It's expensive but I know that what's there won't kill me.
Wow, you are not just a pretty face ! Where the heck are the women like you?

Thanks.
That REALLY helps.

5 digits starting in 9 = organic
5 digits starting in 8 = GMO/Frankenfood
4 digits = traditionally grown
