Superb interpretation from David and the band. Harmony vocals quite an unusually good feature. Is this fully live? Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers had the hit version in the UK in 1966, before the Beatles Revolver album came out. It is good too. Also Beatles put the single out successfully in the US in 1976. Shows that this was indeed a "Memphis Soul" masterpiece - a Beatles standard for ever with the group at their peak.
So, you're saying there's something unsoulful about this rendition?? Really??? I think it's damn good. Not like the Beatles version, or EWF's version. I like them all. But, this one definitely stands alone. I love the vocal harmonies and the horn arranging. There's nothing boring or "Wonderbread" about it IMHO.
I'm a big DCT fan, and I love most everything blood, sweat and tears did in this era, plus his solo record, from their deep album tracks to their undeniable singles, but this overly-scatty mccartney cover kinda makes me want to go back in time and get into the ramones instead. Too schmaltsy.
What is this facing away from the crowd business?

I like it but Earth Wind & Fire's version is better.

Are you out of your mind?

@shellshockkd12 agreed. BS&T managed to make it more wonderbread than Paul somehow...
ericandrewmcleodhowk 1 year ago
@shellshockkd12 The song is a standard open to many interpretations. EWF were probably influenced by this version 3 years earlier than their's
