@Idontcare.... just a correction and for your education. Higher octane does not burn faster. It is harder to burn the higher the octane which is better for engines that produce large amounts of heat due to their high compression setups. Also carbon deposits are not necessarily left behind because of low octane. Mainly poor engine tuning. Last but not least I do believe that nitro is corrosive and causes problems at least in fullscale applications over time but longevity is not their purpose

I use to be all into nitro and all I had was nitro. I had the nitro mind set that I had electrics when I was a kid and they're just toys, nitros are for the real pros and people that are smart enough to tune an engine. Had all my cars that I had from new running in top shape...Then I got an electric...don't have any more nitros now. And the cars I didn't sell I converted. So many things I love about EP.

The only advantage for nitro to someone I see is if you want to deal with nitro.

@Idontreallycare80 runnin race gas in a vw is nothing compared to runnin high amounts of current through a circuit that cannot handle it. most race gas is 115 octane and most of the time will actually make an engine run better than it would on 87-93. The higher the octane the faster the fuel burns, making a more efficient burn plus not having near the carbon deposits an harmful emissions as a lower grade fuel. Just an fyi.

Nitro vs electric. Personal prefrence really. I like the realness of nitro. Electric just seems more like a toy than a adult hobby. Plug and play if you will. Brushless is fast but just not as fun as nitro to me. I like tuning and having skill. Yeah, you can tune electric to but the skill level is nowhere comparable. I wouldnt mind gettin a flux though!

Why is everyone crying about which is better? I drive both with 1/8 buggy and 1/8 truggy electric and gas. In the end it really comes up to that did you have fun and a good race day, as long as I can turn 1 lap in a qualifer or main im happy.

I got nitro and electric and although nitro is fun and beefy sounding with electric you can drive it up and down your street and no one will have a go at you for the noise and you don't have to buy nitro and their faster (and if you dispute that just remember that the speed record for an rc car is electric)

Nitros all the way. Electrics arent fun, whoo hoo you plug up a battery=no skill. Electrics are for lazy people who cant tune a nitro. I love tunin an rebuildin my nitro. Its like hybrid vs gas in 1:1 vehicles. I'll take my cammed out race truck over a hybrid anyday.

@chevymanmiked Wrong on so many levels. with the right software, you can tune an electric system to optimize it for your track. most people who buy electric are taking into consideration the cheaper starting price, greater acceleration, equivalent top speed for everyday use, and the fact that electricity costs WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY less than nitro fuel. And, to combat your race truck vs hybrid comment, search for "tesla roadster"

@peroxidal yea you can but youll need like an xl5 out of traxxas model itll work great i did it to my sons but make sure your mesh between the pinion and spur is good because youll eat the spur better just keep some on hand till you get it right.

i have a question, i want to get something like a e-revo or e-max or sumthing like that thats brushless and i know they make aluminum parts for the revo's and stuff but i know they are for the nitro's, are the nitro and the electric built the same? would the aluminum parts work on the brushless ones?

@FrankfortHigh dont get aluminum parts bro.. and heres why: Aluminum at this speed and impact.. would bend permanently.. plastic is lighter.. and has some bounce! None of the machines in my videos have aluminum parts.. for exactly that reason my friend. Aluminum is great for a shelf queen.. looks good - but not very practical
