That was what the Chase was supposed to do however, they didn't know drivers would actually change their mindset towards it. What Jimmie Johnson did was they prepare for the Chase and the playoffs. Now they have the teams in a mindset to prepare for the Chase instead of racing and letting the prep take care if itself.

Rick Mast wouldn't lead another lap until the Budweiser 500 at Dover the following June. He led 3 laps under a late caution flag and finished 6th.
