hmmmm well if your dad or someone you know has a like a workshop or something you could try there. just make sure whatever you do the wire is thick enough to hold a shape.
yes, there is a polerization made when the electrical feild amplifies thru the dc, current.... it is the magnetic feild of electricity around the wire, that is attracting it towards the magnet in a spiral effect ( note , the eziest way nrgy seeps into a core is with a vortex. The vortex of the magnet, and the wires magnetical feild make elecrto magnetical attractions ) etvoila , ur answered
The copper I had was to short so I had to put 2 pieces together and it was a very thin and flimsy bit of wire. But it was still mostly my horrible copper bending skills lol
the wire isnt supposed to toch the magnet...

Then where does it connect...
lawsonfulton 2 years ago
1. I think I found it in my basement. In a drawer.
2. $1.45/lb
3. Some random neodymium from lee valley.

This is actually pretty cool. I'm building one now. :)

you can just strip any old wire (i.e. power cord -make sure it's not plugged in lol, headphones, etc.)
the best is an old phone cord since there's 4 separate wires inside that you can use.
frankwilliams987 3 years ago
You could do that, just remember the wire has to be adequately thick to bend into shape. Preferably more thick then what I used.

does it have to be that kind of magnet?
plz reply

As far as I know yes.
I don't think any other type of magnet is strong enough.
They are very cheap to buy and they are a lot of fun to play with :)
try ebay for starters.

heheheh, a gay motor. ^^

ok question. i know its spinning cuz of the magnetic fields and not using the battery. but is the battery getting drained, or no?
inad316 4 years ago
yes the battery is getting drained and fairly quickly at that. do a google search on homopolar motors and you will find out how they actually work
