The turn-downs, when spinning, give the card an Aerofoil-Section, & y're throwing it uphill, whence it stalls & glides back down to ye... Search 'boomerang aerophysics' to see the way Boomerangs do stuff way beyond Frisbee Return Flights... I reckon y'll enjoy it.
