  • I have one of these the DC jack failed after 2 years :(

  • You definately have to upgrade to Windows 7 (Vista be suckin, der dick), also RAM.. And.. its heavy as hell.. but its pretty good.

  • Don't buy SL500 better buy SL410 coz it has no glossy cover, Glossy cover sucks

  • @EgyptianPrinceCB Hey.. Dont insult my laptop xD

  • He forgot to say whether is Touch screen capable or not...

  • @oztronix What Touchscreen?

  • @IsiFlashX he ment touchpad i think cause i hav this computer

  • I have SL500 but not like this. 3GB ram, P8600 cpu and 1680-1050 resolution. One missed thing is 802.11n. (a/b/g included).

  • @Yako2K3

+ Nvidia9300GS VGA. Product No: 2746-A78. You can check this components at Lenovo's Web site.

  • lol this is what i have

it is an ok computer is a bit slow sometimes but for what i payed it is worth it ;)

  • takes a lot of time to load

  • back to 2000year

  • lol "wireless A"

  • lenovo sucks big time compared to ibm

  • Shit man

    how piss weak are you?

get a carry bad. or join a gym.

  • i hav the r400 fer school and i like it a lot.

  • I hate the way they try to advertise a low end laptop in that way, it's not like a $700 or $800 T400 is really that expensive, even at the time of the review.

  • I just got my Lenovo SL500 today. I got it for under 500 pounds brand new. I am really excited. It is really great. I recommend this laptop to anyone who's been thinking of buying a new laptop for themselves - in this price area. Not suited for gaming but I don't care. I got mine for my studies and the occasional movie. I am digging all the features on it and really loving how the whole laptop feels. It runs cool and it looks smart. Best laptop I ever owned. Would recommend, great buy!

  • HP Sucks, I used two HP Laptops and they get heat problems quickly. When I used this Lenovo ThinkPad, it runs normally.

Although, HP are leading with business computers.

  • i love how reliable the thinkpads are. should you get the sl or the r series?

  • its a good design, look at hp ones, they heat like mad, because of the design. still i like the looks, it looks kinda serious. and not too flashy.

  • i had an hp pavilion and that system sucks ass! if i wasn't using a heat pad with a fan to suck away the hot air the right palm area got super hot. uncomfortably hot. got an sl500 and so far the performance has been very good. the hp may look groovier but i'd rather take performance over looks any day.

  • idiot.

  • Sorry, I apparently got lost, I thought we were talking about the minimum Vista requirements, you know, the smallest amount that would be considered "fine"...

  • What you're saying is that you need extra memory so what you're not using is used for prefetch to load programs faster..? You don't need to use prefetch just to use your computer. Obviously the more ram you have the faster your computer will run... that doesn't mean you *need* more than 1GB of ram...

  • No less than 3 is a stupid recommendation, especially since you're basing it off of experiences with a beta version of Vista. I use multiple machines with only a gig of ram and Vista basic, it runs fine and doesn't lag doing anything, and I used them for a lot more than just web browsing. I also installed Vista business on a laptop with only 512mb of ram and it ran fine though lagged a lot if you opened any programs.

  • Um, yes, it is. Vista Basic has no Aero, turn off the sidebar and there's no problems. Too many people harshly overestimate the ram requirements Vista has.

  • well a nice laptop.

  • In my opinion XP on Laptops is a bad move. XP was made for Desktop PC's, and having it on Laptops makes it shit. If there was a specialised version of XP for laptops then fair enough.

  • ...what makes you think that XP was made for desktops? Did we not have laptops in the year 2001?

  • With all the XP laptops I have had, they never seems up to the task of Handling XP and the lack of portability options leads me to assume this.

  • "With all the XP laptops I have had, they never seems up to the task of Handling XP and the lack of portability options leads me to assume this."

wow. thats probably the dumbest things i've ever heard. forgive me if i didnt understand what you said accurately, but... laptops cant run XP??? probably you had the crappiest laptops possible.

  • This is like buying a refurbish IBM Thinkpad aka an refurbish american muscles except that everything inside has been upgraded to the latest like the Core 2 Duo and GMA X4500 is NEW

  • You can see Bauer trying to refrain hinsekf from saying "SOLID" at 4:05 but gives up on the next sentence :p

  • sure wish they didnt have all the glossy crap on it... otherwise this would be a solid computer... those are my only grips about it

  • Why do you hate the Glossy Finish?

  • Dirty s way to easily its a pain to clean and glossy screens sucks for photoshop and video editing the colors tend to blend in to each other.

  • ok i did not know that it made colors blend... thanks :)

  • its really thick

  • ur better getting a dell e5500 well better

  • cool

  • Comment removed

  • Thats one ugly netbook!

  • It's a Lenovo, of course it's ugly.

  • it would be the best if it had an internal webcam in between the intergrated mics

  • It has the option to come with one for an additional $30.

  • looks cool

  • nice..

  • Interesting laptop.

  • nice
