for the first example you gave during your shot fake to jab my opponent generally would throw an uppercut or a knee to prevent the shot in the first place any tips?
@tomygirl652 You can try throwing a cross/overhand instead, while shifting yourself diagonally. Move to the left of your opponent if you're orthodox, and right if you're southpaw. I've seen a vid of anderson silva knocking someone out by feinting that takedown and going for a spinning elbow. The general idea is that you want your opponent's hands to drop as he goes for a sprawl.
@xc8759, do a youtube search for "MMA Techniques In Fights" (Parts 1 and 2) and "Utah NHB MMA Thai Boxing I" as well as "MMA NHB Thai Boxing Utah II" These are clips of our students, Coach Kiser and I. You can see a newer highlight reel at vimeo i you do a search for "Damage Control 2009 Training Montage" And we're currently working on the 2011 clip.
As a boxer, I think a pretty cool mma combination would be my fav 3 jab combo ended with a muay thai kick to the leg. Slip, jab solar plexus, jab head, slip, jab solar plexus, leg kick. Ahh...can't wait to join Muay Thai next year..
is mma conditioning as hard as wrestlng conditioning? cuz i want to be a fighter in the future and wrestling for 2 years i have no boxing or kickboxing experince i just wana know if conditioning is harder or same?
@AdrianAwesome69 depends you are probably in good "grappling shape" so more than likely striking and grond and pound will be harder but wrestlers have good condition so you shouldn worrie to much
Wrestling is fairly laborious so you should be ok if you don't smoke weed or cigs. You should go get some stand up skills because pure wrestlers without stand up skills are oblivious to striking or reacting to a punch. Boxers take punches like champs. When you get punched your trained not to blink and if you do, don't scrunch the eyes and don't back peddle.Just march into war through anything. That takes training and discipline. Most people that come through my gym with mma quit
If your serious, go join either a Muay Thai gym or a boxing gym. I'd recommend boxing for one year and pulling some amateur fights. Amateur boxers can pull a fight per weekend in the peak season if they want. From there, you can move to Muay Thai poses serious problems for boxers. With all this being said....never doubt a boxer. And a starter tip....if you have to clinch when you're getting slaughtered. You'll be getting destroyed for at least the first 6 months brutally
I love watching you guys, you're great teachers. You explain things so thoroughly with effective but simple stupid technique that's easy to digest. Keep up the good work!

Love it. I agree with the couple other comments asking for more setups in the future. BTW, your new gym looks massive in this vid.
