Hey if want to take XLR outputs out of this mixer, I would need 2 short 1/4TS - Female XLR cables - where hot is TIP and pin 2 and ground is SHIELD and Pin 1.
Does anybody know if I would need to jump pins 1 and 3 within the XLR connector??
What I really want to know is: can you plug a mike with a 0.25in jack (I guess they call it a TRS connector nowadays) into the "line input" (below their xlr3 connector)? My two mikes have mono TRS inputs.
What I really want to know is: can you plug a mike with a 0.25in jack (I guess they call it a TRS connector nowadays) into the "line input" (below their xlr3 connector)? My two mikes have mono TRS inputs.
@2migell You can connect it to the in and out sockets of the soundcard, or you can connect it by USB via the U-Control UCA200 (now UCA202) interface. A word of warning though. I bought the Xenyx802 and it is a touch on the noisy side when the treble is turned up; if you need to turn the trim control up all the way it's horrendous. Behringer use cheap noisy ICs where a cheap low-noise transistor would do the job better. And they don't give out technical info to help you improve the components.
Hi! If I'm using more than one channel, can I select wich channel to listen in headphone or in the headphone I'll listen exactly what is playing in out? thx so much!
Alright, check it out people. This is how it works: You need an audio interface in order to use this product with a computer. Because the 502 does not come with a USB output, you will want to use an interface with 1/4 in. inputs and a USB or firewire output. In addition, you will want some sort of recording software on your computer to manipulate the input data. Hope this helps...
whats annoying is you didnt show how this connects up to anything, just flashing around with the buttons. Thast why you music retailers go out of business, cos your actual customer sales service is shit.
@pirell I know! I just got the 1002FX and am waiting for it to show up. I did my homework and this was the better choice in its series. Anyway, I wish someone would demo this series fully. This video stunk.
@pirell If you're buying a board, then you should know how to hook it up. If you don't, then you shouldn't buy it. This is a product review, not a tutorial.
@pirell this is a 5 channel board. this is as basic as it gets. i didnt say that you need to know everything. just enough to use it. he describes all of the inputs and out puts in the video. if you need to know how to plug a cable in, dont waste your money on this board.
@nikylasuckes13 the mixer itself doesn't record, you need an external recording device, this simply takes multiple inputs (like voice and guitar) and mixes it down to one channel
I have one. Its great for the very basic mixing one may do. although, there is a faint hiss(I manged to get rid of most of it after experimenting with different settings and outputs) and It needs a power switch, because unplugging the back is annoying.
i jst bought it 92 Euros in Europe! I want to sing & record it and i can't! actually i don't know to use it.. i'm reading the directions over and over again.. nothin! plus it's not in my language! Guys help me pz!
Ok, I measured the phantom power this mixer gives and its around 31v instead of advertized 48v. If you get a mic that requires 48v and think that this toy can handle it... think again.
Has anyone tried this mixer (the version with phantom power) with SE X1 condenser microphone? I get very low output from the mic, I have to crank up the gain/level/master all the way to be able to hear it which throws in a lot of static noise of course...
I just purchased this podcastudio kid but the UCA200 was missing so got to wait for them to get it for me... in the mean time, thought I would learn as much as I can ..... thanks for posting:)
is the xenyx series just for microphones or for other instruments too like the guitar?if so than is there a point of having one if you arent going to record a guitar?
how do i connect my xenyx 502 mixer to my DJX-750 mixer?? since there are no 1/4 inch jacks on the DJX-750 mixer.. do i need specail patch cords??? since i bought PODCASTUDIO , i need to know how to make this work.. i want my turntables hooked up through the Xenyx.. PLEASE HELP!
to connect it to the computer you need a 3,5mm stereo jack which attaches to 2 6.35mm jacks (they look like amp cables leads) then you plug the 3.5mm stereo jack into the line in port in your computer
Ive been running PA and recording with this for a while, it works good but now that there is going to be more people in the band I gotta get bigger one. I like the Xenyx line so I think Ill get the 8 track one next.
I have a e914 condenser mic that works fine into this 502 , mine had a sticker on the box too'now with phantom power' . I too was dubious because there's no swith to turn on or turn off the phantom power as have the bigger zenyx's. but hey, it's a condenser mic, and it's working just fine - so yes looks like mine has phantom .... can we test it with a multimeter ?
I have it connected to my computer and im recording vocals and when the xenyx marks that the main mix its in "0" my computer says its too loud and clips and if i lower the line in volume the audio quality is bad. If i lower the behringer my computer says its okay but in who i trust to obtain the best quality?? (i think this mixer "knows" more about sound than my computers sound card so im confused)
If the box says 'now with phantom power' then yes it does, even though the unit itself does NOT have a physical switch, I tried it with a condenser mic and it worked
i'm not sure it really has phantom power. it works to record but one side is louder than the other. the right vocals are louder than the left for me. i have all the nobs at zero in the middle.
if there is no solution by now, and your microphones are XLR, get mogami 1/4" stereo cable to an XLR. that way your guitar will run on the same channel your microphone runs on
would this be good to plug in a wire from a pre amp jack off an amp to practice quietly, or no because i would kneed a speaker simulator or something?
No its stereo output. You'll need to connect this to an audio interface, which will enter the computer via USB. You can get some pretty cheap interfaces, so you just have to worry about less desk-room really!

False advertising!! It says right on the box "Now with Phantom Power" and after I get to the gig, rip my whole setup appart and plug it in, it doesn't work with my SM87. It made me waste and hour plugging and unplugging sh!t and now I still have to waste gas money and time back to the music store (another town away) to get a refund. I will be calling Behringer on this one.
OMG Dude!!!!!! I just went thru that same exact fucked up shit u went thru today! Exactly the same shit I went thru..wasted hours pluggin and den i realized this piece of shit has no phantom power! now i have to return it fuck it is false advertising!
Connect the CD/Tape Outputs (the red and white RCA-style output sockets located directly above the power LED) and connect them into the 'Line-In' of your PC's sound card (usually the 3.5mm socket with a blue ID ring).
Read the manual for your sound-card to be sure.
Then make sure you have set up your sound-card's mixer to record the Line-In.
DON'T have everything cranked up. Increase the levels a little at a time, in one location at a time - this saves your speakers and minimises confusion! ;)

its pretty much a plug in.
like an a/c adapter i believe.
but its with xlr cables
fv123hb 3 years ago
Its usually 48v of power that runs a condenser mic. Without phantom power you can't use condensers, and only dynamics.
ihopeyouredone 3 years ago
It puts 48 volts across two of the lines in a mic cable. XLR mic cables have three pins two for signal and one ground. The 48V is signal to ground.
Most condenser mics require phantom power. Dynamic mics do not need it but are not damaged by it.

Read the manual for your sound-card to be sure.
