  • If you haven't seen Dan Deacon live, it needs to be on your bucket list. Best show I have ever been to (and I am not even his hugest fan).

  • Good song.

  • I like his compelling drive to create this music with the equipment he uses. He seems like a cool dude.

  • Dan Deacon is amazing. No other words are needed.

  • This song makes me want to run a 10k

  • His music never gets old.

  • @chrisdazzoo ITS BAD BECAUSE I DONT LIKE IT

  • @cockroachbalogna yeah, man. that's kinda what bad means. he doesn't like it, so to him it is a bad song. whatever. you know what he means. chill out. i think it is good... because i like it.

  • @cloudsinyrcoffee Just because we like it doesn't mean its a good song though. just because someone dislikes vinegar means vinegar is bad? :s

  • @cockroachbalogna it means to them, vinegar is bad. i'm sure he wasn't trying to say it is bad in some universal sense because i'm sure he knows just as you and i and everyone over the age of 8 does that there is no definitive good or bad and everything is subjective and blah blah blah. perhaps it was a bad choice of wording... but i imagine it was just what sprung to mind

  • @cloudsinyrcoffee Maybe he meant it was bad that he hasn't started liking it yet

  • This is bad. I tried to like it, I really did. I listened to the album twice through. Still hated it.

  • awwww yeah I LOE DAN DEACON

  • penis

  • mhm.. tak uvidime co predvede v sobotu :)

  • @JGSlevin to some extent, you are correct. Bands that go from indie to mainstream often lose their original sound. However, the incessant chatter of self-titled "true fans" is annoying to say the least. I do agree with you about Vampire Weekend though. Their newfound popularity made them lose their flair.

  • @1Tyrano1 I understand you qualms with the "true fans", people who think they are above someone else because they like something older or more discreet are still basing their sense of cool off of the mainstream which makes them just as bad as anyone else. I'm simply putting my opinion about a positive corellation(and probable causation) between a move towards the mainstream and the quality of music/ genuineness of the music going down the drane.

  • Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Regardless, i love Dan Deacon

  • Why?

  • First comment in a month!

  • This is one of those songs that I've chosen that I would prefer during the ending credits of my life.

  • hey all of you arguing, shut the fuck up

  • @mdvavdm This should be the top comment for EVERY VIDEO ON YOUTUBE

  • On a related note, and this is just my opinion, what chapwells brings up(I will call it indie cred) is a hypocritical and impossible standard. The music of Modest Mouse didn't change. All that happened was more people started listening to them. That's beyond their control. Your definition of indie is not based on what music and artist or band produces, but on how many people listen to the music. Good bands get popular. Just because you found their music first doesn't mean your opinion is better.

  • @1Tyrano1 HERE HERE!

  • @1Tyrano1 I get your argument but the music of Modest Mouse did change for the worse. Also even if hadn't changed and became the forefront of a mainstream movement of the same sort of stuff their then the stuff they were putting out during and after that point would be contrived and not good.I won't rag on The Moon and Antarctica because bad bands play similar stuff now(also because its one of the best albums ever) but I won't support their new stuff that sounds like alot of other mediocre bull.

  • @1Tyrano1 If bullshitters embrace your music you can't embrace them back, thats when you get back. Modest Mouse isn't even a good example, for me the best example is Vampire Weekend and MGMT just because I was istening to them at similar times. Oracular Spectacular and Vampire Weekends first album came out at similar times and had nearly identical overembrace by people who don't listen to good music or didn't really get the music. MGMT didn't embrace the overhype and Vampire Weekend did.

  • @1Tyrano1 To put it quickly MGMT's next album went away from the part of their music that was embraced by the mainstream, and this helped them overall. Vampire Weekend kept their music along the same path and pushed it towards the music that embraced by the mainstream, this made Contra suck. Complacency with a relatively high level of misinterpretation of your music by mainstream zombies will only make your music worse both through sound and the level of contrived content in your music.

  • @JGSlevin surely the whole Contra being a fantastic album, being much more subtle and nuanced than their first and not as good album and contra being near universally critically acclaimed (certainly more so than the first album) would somewhat dispel your notion of them becoming mainstream zombies

  • @mytimetravellingdog How many V-Necks have you bought from American Apparel or Urban Outfitters in the past month? White Sky is a rip off of a Paul Simon song, Giving Up the Gun is a piece of overwhelmingly poppy bullshit. Shall I go on? The album is trash, now this may just be my opinion but everyone I've talked to of whom's opinions on music I respect has thought it was garbage as well.

  • @JGSlevin And you talk to retards, blind leading the blind. Music is great in all forms even if YOU or YOUR friends don't get it. Just because you respect someone's opinion on music doesn't mean that it makes their opinion any more valid than yours. Like everything, music is also in the "eyes" of the beholder. So get the sand out of your vagina.

  • @symposiumoffilth Don't really know much that isn't relative. Facts are relative. As time periods change what used to be in stone will crumble. Everything that is, is relative to now as what comes after now, will be then. If you get that explanation then like you i agree, preference is personal. However, truths proven during relevance support the foundation of society. If someone didn't have something to depend on as a constant imagine the chaos. Realize why change seems difficult.

  • @chapwells and Brightfur10 please stop talking. This is a song that, DEPENDING ON THE PERSON, can be a good or bad experience. Your views of the "indie" genre of music being superior are just that; they are YOUR views. Just because another person doesn't think exactly the way you do does not mean they're wrong. So please leave your incredibly rude comments out of the comment section. Let other people enjoy the music.

  • I don't think his stuff is amazing. it's good to listen to but not all the time. because frankly, it gets repetitive and annoying.

  • I think songs of this genre are longer because they have bigger ideas than those which are communicated through the average 3 minute songs on the radio.

  • @CraterMuffin

ive also had big ideas while playing with the presets on a keyboard in guitar center. perhaps im just as talented as dan deacon

  • I totally understand this song!

  • ugh more hipster shit

  • @omghai2u

    frrrrrttttt moar napster flipeeeeddddddddddd

    stfu fargot

  • @omghai2u

It's called indie, and it's the most creative type of music you'll ever hear. if this isn't to your liking, try Modest Mouse or Ugly Casanova.

  • @Brightfur10 dont get ahead of your self. there is much more creative music out there than the simple "indie" genre. look up aphex twin. theres people out there that put much more effort into music than you obviously realize you just havent heard it yet or dont understand the technical side of music as much as you think you do

  • @omghai2u

Indie isn't simple. Did you not look up Modest Mouse? I understand more than you think, sweetheart.

And no thanks. I'll stick to my indie and alternative.

  • Comment removed

  • @omghai2u

I did look it up, honey.. electronica disinterests me. Dan Deacon wouldn't be my favorite.. In the beginning I was simply putting out that Indie music, if not Deacon's style, is an underrated genre of music which is why i take pride in listening to it... But Indie and Rock mixes are the only styles I stick to. Anything else is crap. And don't really so much as like anime as I do the ART of the videos. Oh wait, you like death metal, haha. nevermind.

Get the hell off my comment stream.

  • @Brightfur10 lololololol Modest Mouse are the bastardization of what used to be indie. You can't be played on the radio and "indie". By that time you've already sold out on your "indie status". Same goes for the Shins and pretty much every indie band people have heard of. But good job and thanks for trying.

  • @chapwells

    Modest Mouse rocks, bitch

  • Comment removed

  • have a listen to the dross on the baaaaaaaassstaards. comments are shite

  • my mind is doesn't need drugs to trip out. I just play this and its like O___o

  • o ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma

  • All this from a guy whose never done acid? Yeah right no way.

  • @Renaissanceish u so silly an misguided.

  • @theblahs Actually, you are. Because you didn't get the Dan Deacon reference I was making. So yeah.

  • @Renaissanceish Except your little acid reference has got zero to do with Deacon and everything to do with dumb assholes on Twitter and Youtube comments losing their silly fuckin heads over a cute little monologue.

    Keep on emulating, cowboy.

  • @theblahs @joerussoe2 You sir, show yourself to be truly ignorant of Dan's true work. Not that I claim to be knowledgeable on the subject, but I do recall the quote that @Renaissaneish was making, and it fits in the way he said it, so just be quiet, and enjoy the music, instead of trying to prove yourself superior to someone else.

  • @Renaissanceish No way. Get real. (Did I get the reference?)

  • yeah.........new sound for me......the go team sounds similar!

do u know more of that stuff???

  • the lyrics for the second part of this song are absolutely beautiful

  • *Deep breath*

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC

  • @Darkel08 If only every youtube argument went like that, the world would be a better place. And if there was mandatory communal dancing and singing of this song every day at noon, that would do it, too.

  • you know whats crazy i think ive been faking eargasims

but this time ive actually fount some one who can hit the right spot

    thank you dan deacon =)

  • Now you can upload the full song :D

  • 8 people dont know where the mountain of snow is.

  • Don't laugh...but this is good Wonder King grinding music.

  • Acid triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip~

  • So I hate to just sound like another druggie, but last night I must confess that my friends and I got moderately high, and we were listening to this song while watching my friend play Earthworm Jim 3D. Wow that was an experience.

  • i think dan deacon's creativity is a bit overrated. im not going to as far as saying he is not creative at all...but ive seen more creativity..

  • @rosss88 me either,,, untill i seen him live and now i'm looking up songs of him on you tube, as local dialect goes, he's savage so he is

  • @rosss888 i think i understand where you're coming from, though i myself (would, and do, and am about to) phrase it in such a manner: i can see that Dan Deacon is highly creative, though it's not a creativity that resonates with me. he is no more or less creative than others, but his creativity doesn't speak to me in the same manner that it seems to speak to everyone else, nor does it speak to me as strongly as the creativity of other artists.

  • @rosss888 ok, but hes a one man band, hes pretty creative

  • This is awesome.

    ...and that's all I've got.

  • even better live! we love Dan Deacon!

  • he played at my school a week ago FOR FREE, but I was working on a film set at the time. :( missing that sucked so much.

  • WILLY WANKA ON ACID!

  • @jameshippiekid *highfive!*

  • so cool

  • assault my ears with violent screaching! abuse and disrespect my sensitive sound sensers mate!

  • what a fucking genius

  • dan deacon is such a coolguy

  • silly happy when i die i going there!

  • reminds of me mgmt without cultural constrains

  • remids me of the willy wonka song.

  • damn sure I wanna see this guy live! I saw a clip on youtube from a show of Dan Deacon, what a party!!! DAN PLEASE COME TO HOLLAND! ;)

  • @yoeriyoeriyoeri Agreed. In the Northn pleasae!

  • this just sounds like a children's music parody.

it should be on yo gabba gabba.

  • i love my friends and everyone

but we've had our chance let's move aside

let time wash us out with the tide

yikes this is pretty cute you guys

  • anyone know where i could find the vocal/acapella part of this song?

  • you can use a program like audiovox

or the website myxertones. you can just clip section and save it to your computer

  • O ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma

  • this always makes me so happy.

  • this is just fantastic, weird but in the lovely way of weird

  • great work. sounds good

  • *O-U-T-R-A-G-E-O-U-S

    *Y-O-U

  • Is there an effect to make it sound like a crowd of ppl?

  • Check out AVOX plugins - there are Choir and Throat plugins avaliable, one of them lets you take a single voice and turn it into many. Dan hasn't done that here though, this is a crowd of people.

  • its like 3 songs in one

  • pink batman!!!!!!!

  • Some of the less noteable artists just try to be unusual for the sake of being unusual, and there's no passion in their music.

    But this... This is...

    This beautifully weird. Love it!

  • dis man is sick. revived music

  • *than

  • This man should have way more recognition that Owl City...

  • they can both receive awards on the same stage!

  • @Clemyntine

please no, owl city was bad enough we dont need to hear this shit played on the radio

  • I wonder why the band broke up...

  • you could have split this into a two part playlist and fit the 1st minute...it all stops and changes at 5:55

  • Yeah, I would say Dan Deacon is a quite "acquired taste." For me he is really hit and miss. I like about 20% of his stuff and hate the rest. But this song, in my opinion, is just great.

  • you sir are and idiot

  • Comment removed

  • This is by far Dan Deacon's best song.

  • fuck yes it is my golden birthday so my

wife gave me a golden shower and I

made a golden, lemony, coconut pound

cake. wearing my paisley skirt and white

cotton apron. and this song makes me happy....

  • Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  • i came

  • what the fuck i didn't know i liked electronic music all of a sudden i can't stop liking this guys music intensely

  • One of those things that makes your brain laugh.

  • the closest thing to regaining your innocence.

  • This song is the embodiment of pure, unadulterated, joyful celebration. The kind you only really find at the end of fantasy novels and fairy tales.

  • No joke, I reached enlightenment listening to this song, that's how good it is.

  • Yeah, lsd is fun, ain't it?

  • @Tkon321

youre confusing enlightenment with being smug douche.

    fix'd

No joke, I am a smug douche and I like this song, that's how good it is.

  • i cry tears of joy everytime i hear this song.

  • i came buckets

  • like the volume of semen was such that it could fill buckets, or you ejaculated actual buckets, like pickle buckets? clarify please.

  • Yes, Dan Deacon, yes....

  • I am amazed, just wow

  • It must take a real tool to name their youtube account "MussyPagnet"

  • *burn

  • @paulosham

    ha

  • Because numbers at the end of a name are so much better than puns, right?

  • Oh yeah totally. I went for Grizzle69, but it was already taken.

  • I hope you're being sarcastic.

  • Absolute genius.

  • Have just found this song and could listen to it over and over. It's not just this song though, so many of Dan's songs are so damn good. Every now and again though you come across a song which you just can't help listening to again and again, hoping you never get sick of it. I listen to it all the time and have still not got sick of it, in fact I haven't got sick of any of Dan's songs!

  • Man, that guy is so good!

The "big sharks, sharp swords" part reminds me of a similar use of monosyllabic rhythm and alliteration in Eno's "The Roil, The Choke".

  • 9:17 - Splendid!

  • just read the lyrics on the right, beautiful stuff

  • I bet you would need to be on every drug in the world at once to mimic Dan's creative process.

  • Sir, do not besmirch Dan's good name with these obvious fallacies!

  • It was really a compliment my good squire! I wasn't insinuating that Dan is a partaker of drugs! Merely that your average human would have to go to truly great lengths to reach this mans intense creativity!

  • Ahhh well then right-o good chap. Let us head to the tavern to wet our whistles!

  • I say my brethren, we shall drink our brew and clink our mugs to Dan's sweet melodies until the last ember fades away!

  • you guys are silly

  • silly bo billy

  • this was funny^

  • I love you for this.

  • @Ominous1111 dan deacon was crossing the border in his big dirty trailer with his band and they got stopped...and they said "We KNOW you guys have drugs, buts its too messy for us to even bother looking"

  • @Ominous1111 hahahahahahahahahhahahaha

  • @Ominous1111 mmm wet whistles.....wait what?

  • @Darkel08 But he has done drugs and why would that be something to put past someone

  • @TheEclowngelist Ah, I in no way meant it in a bad way my brethren. It's nothing to put past...or forward anyone for that matter, in fact I plan on taking some relatively soon myself! I simply didn't insinuate as to avoid applying any unwarranted labels to a man of his high esteem!

  • @Darkel08 omg... why are you talking like that? r u o k?

  • seriously i wish this went on for another 10 mins

  • i like heavy metal type music but i listen to dans music when im really happy

  • Truely amazing, this is real music.

  • it keeps on going over and over in my head...

    about big sharks, sharp swords.

  • its already over? i was JUST getting into is. this IS

  • wow... amazing.

  • man you cut out the beginning and end those were my favorite parts.

  • this song

    is just really

    really happy

and its muliplied by 1000 if ur on x,hehe

  • this is very good

  • one of my favorite Dan Deacon songs. I wish his music would get more exposure

  • I'll wham your city if you know what I mean

  • I know a guy named DrFurious who got owned on this song.

oh Dan, good show old sport.
