@lufthansaprofipilot mmmm actually if you have good synthetic minimum 15w-50 with good amounts of zddp in it, preferably mobil 1 or royal purple, this is perfectly fine for the motor... it has a rev limiter on it from the factory you know.... with a chip it raises the red line to either 6800 or 7000 then you could be doing some damage. these engines were ment to take a beating, with forged pistons etc, like all porsches, as long as your belts, rollers, water pump and everything is in tact.
That's interesting. I have an early 1985 and mine dogs out at 5800 also. I had a compression test done and it was good on all four cylinders, by the way.

Disabling the rev limiter is a bad idea, lots of risk with little or no performance gains. If you want a lot of power without a fairly difficult and involved process, buy a 944 Turbo. It's that simple.
Drink without using brown paperbags, taste more then thousand diffrent beers, drive along the Autobahn as fast as you can in non limited areas, mostly outside of city areas. Try the both biggest Volksfests in the world in Germany: Munich an Stuttgart.

that's not good for the motor. you're way in the red..
my S2 cabriolet never goes over the red. check your elec. shutoff if you want your car to last another few years.

ist numberd 401 , or 701.
its the rpm limitter. just cut it trough.
and u'll go like a rocket !

my power actually runs out at 5800 rpms and it redlines at 6400 rpms so i don't think that it will make it any faster...
