Wow. These colleges are losing money big time. $22,000 worth of propaganda spewing? What a desperate attempt of the few to try to dominate the many. I would have done a lot worse than a protest. I would have mopped the blood stained pavement with her.
Why are these students so arrogant. Why do they have to disrupt freedom of speech? Anti-Constitutional/Communist? They are so close minded they can not even listen to another persons opinion. Grow up, these walk out protest are childish. I bet not one of those students would last more than a few minutes in a debate with Ann, so they have to create silly slogans and chants and try to speak over the opposition. What a disgrace to that college and that democrat group.
Why is it that these little weinerwussies can never respect a person's rights to speak pubically without getting yelled at. You see that is the problem with most of these babushka wearing wiener ding dongs. They just do not respect other opinions. For those who disagree with Coulter, but sat quietly while she spoke, I applaud you, but for those little wussy britches who got up and disrupted the event, well maybe someday you will grow up and respect other views.
Ugh I think Ann Coulter is just a charecter and she knows it. She says what she says for attention and to get money. Have you noticed when she speaks she pauses between every sentence and looks up as if she were thinking "what's something offensive and controversial I can say?"
why is she lecturing to anyone? may as well have jerry lewis up there. she is an attention whore with nothing to offer. throw her out with the trash. anyone who takes her seriously, needs serious help.
Naahhhh, you have it all wrong, Obama, Bush , Mccain, they are all the same, run by the same people and it isn't you. Sorry to break the news to your immature mind. Anyone with a brain would know that whatever she says or writes is pure trash. Go ahead following dopes like her, it makes you a dope too.
For as long as I've be associated with TCNJ - former Signal scribe - liberal "tolerance" went exactly as far as anyone's views were in line with "accepted truth" of Liberal elitism. I was actually banned after writing an anti abortion opinion column.
This "outrage" was, as Coulter posited, manufactured to silence an opinion offensive to liberals - their offense is proof of a wrong done.
In the grip of liberals, the 1st Amendment is hostage with a gun to it's head, the image of fascism.
The college Democrats joined the Islamic society in protesting the same person? What's that all about? Islamic zealots have about as much use for democratic beliefs as a cat has for an attack dog. Although it's true that Democrats have displayed traits of intellectual bankruptcy, forming this type of alliance is pushing the envelope...even for them! Sadly, Ms. Coulter appears to have more temerity than the majority of our elected officials.
Mr. Ann is about getting as much public attention as possible, those of us that don't agree with her we should not listen to her outragous and racist rants. By us listening and reacting to her comments it only makes her stronger and again she is in the news. Let her speak in peace to those that want to hear her hateful messages, and soon she will turn on them so that she make her millions
Just because she has a different opinion than yours you have to call her names? You call her a man and a racist? Wow real mature. What a great debater you would be.
I'm not calling Mr.Ann names. I do think she is a he and as for her being a racist, all you have to do is to listen to some of her speeches when is describing Muslims (raghead) and who know some of the other things he has said about the rest of the races. but once againg i do think she deserver to speak in peace espcially since some people pay their hard earn money to hear her rants.
wayne, I'm just concerned about this trend of campus protesters crossing the line from peaceful protest to varying levels of censorship because they're so gung ho about exercising their "free speech" rights they haven't bothered to understand the parameters of the 1st A. And when called on it, they just rationalize that even if they did cross the line, nobody cares if the rights of a "racist" like Coulter were violated, right? I think it's a big deal, but I guess that just makes me a troll.
We were let in, the people running the event were told ahead of time by one of our group's leaders what we intended to do, and they accepted it. They have not called us back saying that our protest was unacceptable because we would let them do the same. Please re-read the 1st amendment, it says that the right for the people to peacefully petition. We did not fight, we cooperated with authorities who told us to put our signs down upon entering the the theater. We did nothing wrong at all.
They "accepted" it? What the fuck does that mean? Didn't the college Repubs pay Coulter 22K to speak for 45 mins? (significantly less than her usual fee, btw) Why would any group blow their budget on a speaker and then tell a bunch of losers, yeah, sure, go right ahead and bring the speech to a halt in the middle? If so, they're dumber than you are (and exceptionally bad hosts) And I've forgotten more about the 1st A than you will ever know because I've been practicing law for over a decade.
It's no secret that neither you, nor anyone in your group have EVER read one of Coulter's books. Students are supposed to be open to different viewpoints. If that's true, at least one conservative book should be on your reading list--since Coulter is THE #1 conservative author in the US, one of her books would be a good choice. You don't have to agree with a single word of it. But instead, all of you think education is about shouting uninformed chants about racism and hatred. To what purpose?
Wouldn't your education and college benefit by you and your comrades reading Coulter's work first. Discussing it with your peers. Rejecting all of it, or just some of it. Going to the lecture and challenging Coulter with a respectful question. Discussing it more with peers afterward. Then you would actually LEARN something, instead of how to organize screaming protests and walkouts against authors whose work you've never read. Which option would make you less of a self-indulgent douchebag?
No shit! I dont agree with Anything Ann says either but I've at least READ what she says, and I think she's still funny and smart. I don't understand this childishness.
@seanarther LOL if this wasnt coulter, and someone actually remotely serious. Then yes. BUT ANN COULTER, deserves none of these things. QUESTIONING her is like questioning a wall, and why its there. U CANT learn anything from coulter. ALL u have to do is silence her. I completely agree wit organizing a screaming protest to keep this stupid bitches mouth shut, so no one else could hear her dumb ass.
That the college did not stand behind that woman 100%. So, what! I guess that all the kids that wanted to listen to her, dont count, right? I thought you liberals were all about free speech. Or, are we just free to speak, when its some ideology that liberals happen to agree with? Why arent you guys protesting Obambi, for not backing gay marriage?
This makes me laugh... alot. these students are out of control and need to realize that no matter what they do, they will not make a difference. Normal, down to earth people just laugh at these people. haha. and for the kid arrested, after reading his post on facebook, he deserved it. get over yourselves.
Untrue. I happen to be one of those protestors that walked out that evening. I'm clean-shaven and people say I look rather boyish for a 19-year-old. Don't stereotype if you're not prepared for a response countering it.
We have our rights and can use them as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others. Ann Coulter uses her right to free speech as an excuse to spread hate and racism and try to tell us how we need to live our life. No one has that right.
Exactly, JawSeven. You disagree with Ann Coulter's ideas. Thus, she has no right to speak. Accordingly, your disruption of her speaking engagement didn't infringe on anyone else's rights. You decide who is heard and who is silenced based upon your own ignorant, subjective interpretation of what constitutes "hate" and "racism." Trust me, there's no need for you to explain. Your pathetic, arrogant acts of fascism are not complicated in the least.
When has she been racist? By saying Jesus perfected Jews into Christians? By saying that without the single motherhood factor the black and white crime rate would be the same? By making a gay joke? I'm sorry but that hate speech (you calling someone a racist or hateful) is hateful to me, so I guess you shouldn't have the right to say it right?
99.99% of the terrorist attacks committed in the last 40 years were committed by Muslim males between 17 and 40. That's a FACT, and Coulter's point is that it isn't racist or bigoted to acknowledge it. But you are more concerned about offending Muslims than protecting lives so we engage in the ritual of searching 80-year-old grannies at the airport to ensure Muslims' feelings aren't hurt and Coulter is condemned for merely speaking the truth. It values feelings over safety. It's ridiculous.
I'm not worried about insulting Muslims because I AM Muslim, and to be racist against oneself is idiotic. First of all, Coulter needs to learn to pronounce it "Muslim," not "Mooselam." I'm not some outside source charging Coulter with racism, but someone who has been subject to her racism. I know when someone is being racist against me; I'm no moron.
I am a Muslim and she says that we (Americans) should go over there (the Middle East), kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity. If such were done years ago, I would not be Muslim. I would not be who I am today.
Find me a word that means discriminatory against a religion and I'll use that instead, ok? Is it religionist? No. So the best I can think of is racist. Clearly your "investigative" instinct only spans the realm of the obvious.
Find your own words! YOU'RE the one trying to make a point.
Interesting that you made three mistakes, which I pointed out, and you only chose to address one of them -- and at that you addressed it by asking me to be your speech writer. The other two . . . ?
Did I ever say I was a genius? If you are going to criticize something I've done or said, offer an alternative solution. The reason nothing ever get fixd in this world is because people always point out the prblem but rarely if ever offer an alternative solution. It's clear that you don't know a word equivalent to racist for religions. And I chose not to address points 2 and 3 because they are trivial. You missed the point that I was pointing out that he's not a Muslim and was still a terrorist.
"Did I ever say I was a genius?" No, and rightly so.
"If you are going to criticize something I've done or said, offer an alternative solution." OK, how's this: make yourself clear by using appropriate language to communicate whatever point it is you are trying to make.
"You missed the point that I was pointing out ..." Again, because you were making a point badly, and since only know what you write (not what you mean) I am left to rely on your words not intent.
If you go back to the source, I was stating that I take offense to Ann Coulter's racist/religionist remark that not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. Maybe you should stay in school so you could understand how to comprehend writing. By stating that McVeigh is Irish or WHATEVER I was merely showing an example of someone well-known as a terrorist who is anything BUT a Muslim. And I find it hard to believe you are too dumb to understand what I am saying. Everything is clear
Oh I forgot that sentence, while posted on THIS video, could be referring to a million other things. Clearly I was answering a question someone had asked me. And yes I've heeded your advice and I'm staying in school. Clearly you have nothing better to do than to heckle others for standing up for themselves. And by the way, I thought Irish WAS a race. Is it not now?
"Oh I forgot that sentence . . ." While in school, work on the memory skills.
Glad you are staying in school. Hope it helps.
I have many things to do. Setting you straight is just one of them. When were you "standing up for yourself"?
You thought Irish was a race? Even after I pointed out that it was an ethnicity? Take a basic sociology class -- or just look up "race" in the dictionary.
Oh THANK GOD FOR YOU SETTING ME STRAIGHT!!! And I was being facetious you dimwit. Learn to read full sentences. Take out the middle part of the sentence, and it says, "Oh I forgot that sentence could be referring to a million other things." When stating that sentence you referred to earlier, it's hard to believe that you, an educated and upright citizen who sets others straight, wouldn't understand the context of what I was saying. And drop the race thing, it's trivial and pointless.
After all the mistakes you've made in this exchange, you have the gall to call ME a dimwit?
I'll drop the race thing when you do. You brought it up as recently as an hour ago. BTW, you really should drop the race thing. You don't understand it.
Investigator, Irish is neither an ethnicity nor a race. It's a nationality, as much as the Irish would beg to differ. The only thing separating the Irish from the Scots is a sightly different accent, and their two different whiskeys. And the only thing separating the Scots from the English is one tends to be richer than the former, and the latter has an obsession with tea.
And making fun of people's grammar and spelling without touching their actual argument makes you look like a prat.
One could argue ethnicity vs. nationality, but I tend to agree with you here: it more likely nationality. Regardless: definitely not a race any more than muslim is.
Had JawSeven MADE a coherent and supported argument, perhaps it would have been easier to address. Had he used correct grammar and spelling, perhaps it would have been more coherent.
Coming along two weeks after the end of the exchange with someone else to add your two cents -- is that "prat-like"?
We didn't terminate her speech in any way. Right after we left, she continued to speak. Stop your childish name-calling, it doesn't make you look very mature.
You didn't terminate her speech? Is that the standard? Free speech isn't just about volume. By standing up and staging your childish antics, you were conveying the message that Coulter has no right to give her speech without it being accompanied by a self-righteous walk-out to convey to HER audience that YOUR message is that you disagree with her. It is no different than if you forced her publisher to insert paragraphs throughout her books stating your disagreement with her views. (cont)
Look, why do you deny our rights to free speech? We didn't deny her right, but you criticize us for showing our right? If Ann Coulter were to ever come back (God willing she won't), we would do another kind of protest, but we would not do anything that would terminate her speech.
Look, she had a pre-arranged speech. Our march out only made her pause for 30 seconds, it's not like it made her stop speaking entirely or cut anything out of her speech.
You don't have a "right to free speech" during the middle of a paid speaker's presentation. If you did, then that would mean everyone does. And if everyone does, anyone, anywhere can disrupt any event, speech or presentation they disagree with at any time. That is what your conduct means. It would mean I could come to your graduation ceremony and just start yelling through a bullhorn about some random issue that's important to me. By your logic, don't I have a Free Speech "right" to do that?
By the way, you indicate that "God willing" Coulter won't come back to your school. And that's fine, but what really makes me sick about this is it is another example of college students (who are supposed to be the most intellectually curious of all of us) who not only have ZERO understanding or respect for the 1st Amendment, but there's no doubt in my mind that you have NEVER read even a chapter of one of Coulter's books whom you and others cavalierly write off as "hateful" and "racist."
(cont) Coulter was invited and paid to give a speech about her ideas. You had every right to protest before, after, outside, or even inside with your dark clothing. You had NO RIGHT to turn her speech into a DEBATE (even if initially intended as a "silent" debate with the walk out). It's unbelievable--universities are the birthplace of the FS movement and liberals claim that they respect the rights of others but then they act as though they have superior rights over everyone else (cont)
Of course the goal was to cause a disruption it's a fucking protest. What's your point? The idea was not to say she didn't have a right to speak there but to show that the college did not stand behind that woman 100%, if her speech was interrupted for all of 5 minutes so be it.
Your ignorance is appalling. It's not about whether Coulter was gagged permanently and chased off campus. By staging the walk out in the middle of Coulter's speech, you were forcefully insisting that HER message would not be communicated without YOUR message (disagreement) being shoved in there with it. It's the same as Coulter taking a magic marker and writing a response on the protest signs you were holding. If you can't wrap your closed mind around this issue, you don't belong in college.
Next time you are going to try to protest like a bunch of homos you might want to better represent yourselves. You guys looked like a bunch of fags, emo wrist cutters, and morons that only have a few lines in their head that have been propagandasized in there. "RACIST!?!!?!" Woah I just got your whole argument down against anyone who disagrees with you.
I second what the guy below me said, stop being a dumbass. Who says I'm "not prepared for a response countering it"? Based off of your YouTube profile, you're just some emo homo. So just get off my back (pun intended)
Haha actually to be quite honest after seeing the video of him screaming like a baby I changed my opinion of this incident. So I'm with you on this one.
The protesters emphasized that "no attempts would be made to disrupt Coulter's speech..."
Except, of course, the part during her speech when the protesters decided to disrupt it by walking out and shouting at the top of their lungs. Once again, the Left proves that it has no respect for the free speech rights of people with whom they disagree.
Oh, I see. A group of self-righteous, indignant baffoons all decide at precisely the same moment to "stage a walk out" of the venue in the middle of the speech of an invited, prominent speaker, and there was no disruption whatsoever until you were booed? That's hilarious. If your intention was to slip out while being quiet as church mice, why the fuck do it at all? Are you trying to pretend that the "walk out" was NOT intended to be noticed and cause disruption? If so, you're a fucking liar.
I honestly don't know why people can't debate or argue without getting emotional or "yelling" obscenities or malicious comments. The video CLEARLY states that the protesters had said, "No attempt would be made at disrupting the speech other than a planned walkout fifteen minutes into the lecture." You held the contention that our chanting was what disrupted the speech, and I merely said that we did not start chanting until after we were booed. So please calm down and act civil and argue calmly.
You still don't get it. The planned walk out was not only the disruption, but it also constituted a forceful injection of your views into Coulter's presentation. The walk out was an immediate of response to the ideas Coulter was speaking about. She talks, you walk out as your response to her ideas--that is a DEBATE, not a speech. The fact that the speech was ultimately delayed because of the disruption that ensued is incidental. Here's an example: you invite some moonbat liberal...
(cont) to speak on campus at an arranged time and venue (and for $). I attend by standing next to the light switches and every time I hear something I disagree with, I flick the lights a couple of times "in protest." I say nothing and there is not even a delay of the speech (as there was with Coulter). Is that ok? By your logic, it is. But it is wrong because I am not allowing the speaker to communicate his message without my "commentary" being served up with it. Your walkout was the same thing.
Yes, we forcefully inserted our message in there, it's a protest, that's what a protest is. It's an exercise of our speech and a contribution to Jefferson's marketplace of ideas. We recognize her right to speak and expect the same in turn.
And she didn't stop speaking UNTIL the crowd began booing. We just walked out. Are you saying that by some miracle we all had to go to the bathroom at the same time and all got up she would have stopped talking?
No, because going to the restroom isn't a disruptive objection to the message and no one would interpret it that way. Also, your group took as many seats in the venue as possible to ensure that those who want to hear Coulter's ideas wouldn't get in. I'm sure if you had the resources your group would have bought ALL the tickets so that no one heard Coulter speak. You can't stand ideas freely competing with your own on their merits, so you interrupt it and "protect" others from hearing it.
Keep on showing those mindless libtards the facts (i.e. the many studies on children of single mothers in your latest book GUILTY) and MAKE THEM respond to the facts instead of just hurling insults, slurs and empty venom towards us Conservatives!

Let her speak in peace to those that want to hear her hateful messages, and soon she will turn on them so that she make her millions
shiraja1 2 years ago

I think it's a big deal, but I guess that just makes me a troll.
seanarther 2 years ago
We were let in, the people running the event were told ahead of time by one of our group's leaders what we intended to do, and they accepted it. They have not called us back saying that our protest was unacceptable because we would let them do the same. Please re-read the 1st amendment, it says that the right for the people to peacefully petition. We did not fight, we cooperated with authorities who told us to put our signs down upon entering the the theater. We did nothing wrong at all.
wayne388 2 years ago
They "accepted" it? What the fuck does that mean? Didn't the college Repubs pay Coulter 22K to speak for 45 mins? (significantly less than her usual fee, btw) Why would any group blow their budget on a speaker and then tell a bunch of losers, yeah, sure, go right ahead and bring the speech to a halt in the middle? If so, they're dumber than you are (and exceptionally bad hosts) And I've forgotten more about the 1st A than you will ever know because I've been practicing law for over a decade.
seanarther 2 years ago
It's no secret that neither you, nor anyone in your group have EVER read one of Coulter's books. Students are supposed to be open to different viewpoints. If that's true, at least one conservative book should be on your reading list--since Coulter is THE #1 conservative author in the US, one of her books would be a good choice. You don't have to agree with a single word of it. But instead, all of you think education is about shouting uninformed chants about racism and hatred. To what purpose?
seanarther 2 years ago
Wouldn't your education and college benefit by you and your comrades reading Coulter's work first. Discussing it with your peers. Rejecting all of it, or just some of it. Going to the lecture and challenging Coulter with a respectful question. Discussing it more with peers afterward. Then you would actually LEARN something, instead of how to organize screaming protests and walkouts against authors whose work you've never read. Which option would make you less of a self-indulgent douchebag?
seanarther 2 years ago 6

TheProudConservative 2 years ago
Untrue. I happen to be one of those protestors that walked out that evening. I'm clean-shaven and people say I look rather boyish for a 19-year-old. Don't stereotype if you're not prepared for a response countering it.
wayne388 2 years ago
So, you're a boyish-looking, 19-year-old douchebag who has no respect for the free speech rights of others. Well done.
seanarther 2 years ago
We have our rights and can use them as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others. Ann Coulter uses her right to free speech as an excuse to spread hate and racism and try to tell us how we need to live our life. No one has that right.
JawSeven 2 years ago
Exactly, JawSeven. You disagree with Ann Coulter's ideas. Thus, she has no right to speak. Accordingly, your disruption of her speaking engagement didn't infringe on anyone else's rights. You decide who is heard and who is silenced based upon your own ignorant, subjective interpretation of what constitutes "hate" and "racism." Trust me, there's no need for you to explain. Your pathetic, arrogant acts of fascism are not complicated in the least.
seanarther 2 years ago
When has she been racist? By saying Jesus perfected Jews into Christians? By saying that without the single motherhood factor the black and white crime rate would be the same? By making a gay joke? I'm sorry but that hate speech (you calling someone a racist or hateful) is hateful to me, so I guess you shouldn't have the right to say it right?
TheProudConservative 2 years ago
How about that not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslim. I'm pretty sure Timothy McVeigh was Irish.
JawSeven 2 years ago
99.99% of the terrorist attacks committed in the last 40 years were committed by Muslim males between 17 and 40. That's a FACT, and Coulter's point is that it isn't racist or bigoted to acknowledge it. But you are more concerned about offending Muslims than protecting lives so we engage in the ritual of searching 80-year-old grannies at the airport to ensure Muslims' feelings aren't hurt and Coulter is condemned for merely speaking the truth. It values feelings over safety. It's ridiculous.
seanarther 2 years ago
I'm not worried about insulting Muslims because I AM Muslim, and to be racist against oneself is idiotic. First of all, Coulter needs to learn to pronounce it "Muslim," not "Mooselam." I'm not some outside source charging Coulter with racism, but someone who has been subject to her racism. I know when someone is being racist against me; I'm no moron.
JawSeven 2 years ago
JawSeven, no one called you a racist, but since you brought it up, how have you been "subject to her racism?"
seanarther 2 years ago
I am a Muslim and she says that we (Americans) should go over there (the Middle East), kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity. If such were done years ago, I would not be Muslim. I would not be who I am today.

Jaw:
For clarification:
1. Muslim is a religion, not a race.
2. Irish is an ethnicity, not a race, nor a religion.
3. McVeigh was an American citizen, not Irish.
So, you were saying . . .
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Find me a word that means discriminatory against a religion and I'll use that instead, ok? Is it religionist? No. So the best I can think of is racist. Clearly your "investigative" instinct only spans the realm of the obvious.
JawSeven 2 years ago
Find your own words! YOU'RE the one trying to make a point.
Interesting that you made three mistakes, which I pointed out, and you only chose to address one of them -- and at that you addressed it by asking me to be your speech writer. The other two . . . ?
Stay in school, Jaw, you have a lot to learn.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Did I ever say I was a genius? If you are going to criticize something I've done or said, offer an alternative solution. The reason nothing ever get fixd in this world is because people always point out the prblem but rarely if ever offer an alternative solution. It's clear that you don't know a word equivalent to racist for religions. And I chose not to address points 2 and 3 because they are trivial. You missed the point that I was pointing out that he's not a Muslim and was still a terrorist.
JawSeven 2 years ago
Jaw:
"Did I ever say I was a genius?" No, and rightly so.
"If you are going to criticize something I've done or said, offer an alternative solution." OK, how's this: make yourself clear by using appropriate language to communicate whatever point it is you are trying to make.
"You missed the point that I was pointing out ..." Again, because you were making a point badly, and since only know what you write (not what you mean) I am left to rely on your words not intent.
Stay in school.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
If you go back to the source, I was stating that I take offense to Ann Coulter's racist/religionist remark that not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. Maybe you should stay in school so you could understand how to comprehend writing. By stating that McVeigh is Irish or WHATEVER I was merely showing an example of someone well-known as a terrorist who is anything BUT a Muslim. And I find it hard to believe you are too dumb to understand what I am saying. Everything is clear
JawSeven 2 years ago
Jaw:
To recap, (and help with your memory):
"How about that not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslim. I'm pretty sure Timothy McVeigh was Irish."
As muslim and Irish are not races, AND you did not mention "religion" in that statement, you were dead wrong. You were also unclear.
So you were saying again about "dumb" and "clear" . . . .?
Stay in school. You have much to learn about words, writing, and memory (it was YOUR statement I quoted back to you, afterall).
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Oh I forgot that sentence, while posted on THIS video, could be referring to a million other things. Clearly I was answering a question someone had asked me. And yes I've heeded your advice and I'm staying in school. Clearly you have nothing better to do than to heckle others for standing up for themselves. And by the way, I thought Irish WAS a race. Is it not now?
JawSeven 2 years ago
"Oh I forgot that sentence . . ." While in school, work on the memory skills.
Glad you are staying in school. Hope it helps.
I have many things to do. Setting you straight is just one of them. When were you "standing up for yourself"?
You thought Irish was a race? Even after I pointed out that it was an ethnicity? Take a basic sociology class -- or just look up "race" in the dictionary.
Best of luck to you in your studies.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Oh THANK GOD FOR YOU SETTING ME STRAIGHT!!! And I was being facetious you dimwit. Learn to read full sentences. Take out the middle part of the sentence, and it says, "Oh I forgot that sentence could be referring to a million other things." When stating that sentence you referred to earlier, it's hard to believe that you, an educated and upright citizen who sets others straight, wouldn't understand the context of what I was saying. And drop the race thing, it's trivial and pointless.
JawSeven 2 years ago
Re: setting you straight, I'm happy to help.
After all the mistakes you've made in this exchange, you have the gall to call ME a dimwit?
I'll drop the race thing when you do. You brought it up as recently as an hour ago. BTW, you really should drop the race thing. You don't understand it.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Investigator, Irish is neither an ethnicity nor a race. It's a nationality, as much as the Irish would beg to differ. The only thing separating the Irish from the Scots is a sightly different accent, and their two different whiskeys. And the only thing separating the Scots from the English is one tends to be richer than the former, and the latter has an obsession with tea.
And making fun of people's grammar and spelling without touching their actual argument makes you look like a prat.
nauset90 2 years ago
Nauset90:
One could argue ethnicity vs. nationality, but I tend to agree with you here: it more likely nationality. Regardless: definitely not a race any more than muslim is.
Had JawSeven MADE a coherent and supported argument, perhaps it would have been easier to address. Had he used correct grammar and spelling, perhaps it would have been more coherent.
Coming along two weeks after the end of the exchange with someone else to add your two cents -- is that "prat-like"?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
We didn't terminate her speech in any way. Right after we left, she continued to speak. Stop your childish name-calling, it doesn't make you look very mature.
wayne388 2 years ago
You didn't terminate her speech? Is that the standard? Free speech isn't just about volume. By standing up and staging your childish antics, you were conveying the message that Coulter has no right to give her speech without it being accompanied by a self-righteous walk-out to convey to HER audience that YOUR message is that you disagree with her. It is no different than if you forced her publisher to insert paragraphs throughout her books stating your disagreement with her views. (cont)
seanarther 2 years ago
Look, why do you deny our rights to free speech? We didn't deny her right, but you criticize us for showing our right? If Ann Coulter were to ever come back (God willing she won't), we would do another kind of protest, but we would not do anything that would terminate her speech.
Look, she had a pre-arranged speech. Our march out only made her pause for 30 seconds, it's not like it made her stop speaking entirely or cut anything out of her speech.
wayne388 2 years ago
You don't have a "right to free speech" during the middle of a paid speaker's presentation. If you did, then that would mean everyone does. And if everyone does, anyone, anywhere can disrupt any event, speech or presentation they disagree with at any time. That is what your conduct means. It would mean I could come to your graduation ceremony and just start yelling through a bullhorn about some random issue that's important to me. By your logic, don't I have a Free Speech "right" to do that?
seanarther 2 years ago
By the way, you indicate that "God willing" Coulter won't come back to your school. And that's fine, but what really makes me sick about this is it is another example of college students (who are supposed to be the most intellectually curious of all of us) who not only have ZERO understanding or respect for the 1st Amendment, but there's no doubt in my mind that you have NEVER read even a chapter of one of Coulter's books whom you and others cavalierly write off as "hateful" and "racist."
seanarther 2 years ago
(cont) Coulter was invited and paid to give a speech about her ideas. You had every right to protest before, after, outside, or even inside with your dark clothing. You had NO RIGHT to turn her speech into a DEBATE (even if initially intended as a "silent" debate with the walk out). It's unbelievable--universities are the birthplace of the FS movement and liberals claim that they respect the rights of others but then they act as though they have superior rights over everyone else (cont)
seanarther 2 years ago
Of course the goal was to cause a disruption it's a fucking protest. What's your point? The idea was not to say she didn't have a right to speak there but to show that the college did not stand behind that woman 100%, if her speech was interrupted for all of 5 minutes so be it.
Marlowe3488 2 years ago
Your ignorance is appalling. It's not about whether Coulter was gagged permanently and chased off campus. By staging the walk out in the middle of Coulter's speech, you were forcefully insisting that HER message would not be communicated without YOUR message (disagreement) being shoved in there with it. It's the same as Coulter taking a magic marker and writing a response on the protest signs you were holding. If you can't wrap your closed mind around this issue, you don't belong in college.
seanarther 2 years ago
Next time you are going to try to protest like a bunch of homos you might want to better represent yourselves. You guys looked like a bunch of fags, emo wrist cutters, and morons that only have a few lines in their head that have been propagandasized in there. "RACIST!?!!?!" Woah I just got your whole argument down against anyone who disagrees with you.

Ed76638 2 years ago
The protesters emphasized that "no attempts would be made to disrupt Coulter's speech..."
Except, of course, the part during her speech when the protesters decided to disrupt it by walking out and shouting at the top of their lungs. Once again, the Left proves that it has no respect for the free speech rights of people with whom they disagree.
seanarther 2 years ago
We began walking out quietly. It was not until the right-wing began booing us that we began chanting.
JawSeven 2 years ago
If so, you're a fucking liar.
seanarther 2 years ago
I honestly don't know why people can't debate or argue without getting emotional or "yelling" obscenities or malicious comments. The video CLEARLY states that the protesters had said, "No attempt would be made at disrupting the speech other than a planned walkout fifteen minutes into the lecture." You held the contention that our chanting was what disrupted the speech, and I merely said that we did not start chanting until after we were booed. So please calm down and act civil and argue calmly.
JawSeven 2 years ago 2
You still don't get it. The planned walk out was not only the disruption, but it also constituted a forceful injection of your views into Coulter's presentation. The walk out was an immediate of response to the ideas Coulter was speaking about. She talks, you walk out as your response to her ideas--that is a DEBATE, not a speech. The fact that the speech was ultimately delayed because of the disruption that ensued is incidental. Here's an example: you invite some moonbat liberal...
seanarther 2 years ago
(cont) to speak on campus at an arranged time and venue (and for $). I attend by standing next to the light switches and every time I hear something I disagree with, I flick the lights a couple of times "in protest." I say nothing and there is not even a delay of the speech (as there was with Coulter). Is that ok? By your logic, it is. But it is wrong because I am not allowing the speaker to communicate his message without my "commentary" being served up with it. Your walkout was the same thing.
seanarther 2 years ago
Yes, we forcefully inserted our message in there, it's a protest, that's what a protest is. It's an exercise of our speech and a contribution to Jefferson's marketplace of ideas. We recognize her right to speak and expect the same in turn.
Marlowe3488 2 years ago
And she didn't stop speaking UNTIL the crowd began booing. We just walked out. Are you saying that by some miracle we all had to go to the bathroom at the same time and all got up she would have stopped talking?
JawSeven 2 years ago
No, because going to the restroom isn't a disruptive objection to the message and no one would interpret it that way. Also, your group took as many seats in the venue as possible to ensure that those who want to hear Coulter's ideas wouldn't get in. I'm sure if you had the resources your group would have bought ALL the tickets so that no one heard Coulter speak. You can't stand ideas freely competing with your own on their merits, so you interrupt it and "protect" others from hearing it.
